This facility provides a high-quality range ball with mats that are in very good condition. They have 2 sizes of buckets. The smaller bucket has approximately 50-60 balls, which costs $15. I did not inquire about the larger bucket. The hitting area is spacious and well-maintained. One area of note is a nice putting green. It is rarely crowded! What a nice driving range and practice facility. The large bucket was $18. The weather was beautiful and the winds were light. I was trying my new set of clubs for the first time. I was hitting the snot out of the ball. The driving rang was not crowded at noon, plenty of elbow room to josh with my buddy and have a good time. The place appeared to be clean and efficiently run. There were some ugly bare spots on the range, but I am not going out there anyway only the ball is, and I could see my ball very well out to 250 yards. My buddy and I will be going again soon. Very clean and well kept driving range! Came here on a Sunday morning at around 10am with my family to hit some golf balls as something safe to do during the pandemic. There were 4 of us and it was easy to find stalls as the crowd was not huge. The range was very well cleaned and groomed. A large bucket of golf balls only cost $12 which is relatively cheap for this area. Parking was very easy to find and it's right next to the 405 freeway for easy access! Attendants were very friendly and collected buckets so they didn't take up too much space. Bathroom and pro shop were both very organized and Cleary. Only thing is I wish they had seats to sit and take a break between swings. Other than that I would definitely come back here to get some swings in! read more

Unreal that the range ball prices have been raised so much and the place still closes at 4pm. Go to any range in the area and it's packed until dark. The balls have deteriorated so much that a good percentage are not worth hitting, that's if they even have balls to hit. It's obvious management couldn't care less about the place. read more

Old Ranch Golf Practice Center is the open to the public aka commoners who can't afford a country club membership. I come here all the time to practice, but today I really noticed things have really declined for a while. The golf mats are beaten down to the rubber. Not just one, but a majority of them. It wasn't crowded, so you could see down the row of discolored and beaten up mats. The range balls are cut up and badly scuffed. The last time I went to the chipping green, it had been closed for repairs. They used to have days where you could hit from the grass, but I guess those days are over. I've been using this facility for over 7 years now. The recent reviews I don't think are accurate, so here goes mine from last Saturday 8/26. Hours are not the most user friendly currently, and weekend 8am opening can sometimes be later than that. My most recent visit was typical of this establishment. Clean operations, very good range balls and mats in very good condition. They are also pricey on the buckets of balls, $15 and $18, in 2023, what isn't pricey, eh? This practice center used to be special. They used to have chairs, tables, a little patio area. They bought new practice mats and took everything else away. They have slowly and consistently been changing this practice area from special to ordinary. A few years ago they used to have each practice mat separated by a railing, which added to the sense of privacy. They took that out. Every upgrade has done nothing but make it more ordinary all the while raising the prices. After using this as my only practice area for years I will now be looking around for a less expensive place. Worst driving range ever. Their hours are never right. You can go there on a Saturday at 8 or Sunday at 8 when they're supposed to be open and no one is there until like 9am. If someone calls out sick they simply just don't open for the public side. Of course the private side is completely different of course. Memberships and monthly dues vastly improve the consumer experience. I am done giving this business the benefit of the doubt and my business. Hours of operation 8-4 everyday but Sundays. I'm updating my original review to a 5. My initial rating had this range at a 4 (only because the teeing area isn't grass). However, there are so few public ranges with grass - I decided to not hold that against them. Recently they've added new mats! The balls are usually better than other ranges. More than half of them will fly correctly. They don't keep the lights on for night practice anymore. Maybe that will return in the future. The putting green is the best public surface around. Also, the wind direction (for right-handed players) is the preferred right to left direction. read more

Environment felt safe: staff was properly masked and the hitting mat stations were adequately distant from each other (Alternate mats only in the teaching area). Some changes after COVID: they open at 10 am now. For ball purchase, they go by your identification in their records; not accepting cards with embedded payment value anymore. Great place to practice. There are 30 mats to hit from, a couple days a week it off the grass. The price for a large bucket is a 10 bucks and they fill it to the top. It's a practice range only. You don't here Tee times announced. I don't think they sell beer in the check in area. Just soft drinks and water. A few chips. The staff is very processional and upbeat. There is also an area for pitching chipping and putting. It's right next to the 405 but you really don't get distracted by the hum of the traffic. You're just glad not to be on the 405. They demo clubs here on a regular basis. There are some nice tables with umbrellas and comfortable chairs. It's not a country club, you go here to practice . I have been going to this driving range for a few years now, and it has always been great. However, when I went to just go hit a bucket of balls today like normal to try and improve my game, I looked at the prices and they have skyrocketed. The medium and large basket both went up by $6, and that is almost a 100% increase on the medium basket. I am sad to say that I won't be going back unless the prices are lowered. I honestly enjoyed going here, but the prices are just outrageous now that I will be looking for a new driving range to go to. read more

It works, the have a space a sand trap practice area, as well as putting green, and of course a driving range. Staff is friendly and helpful. I appreciate the fact that they have let the grass die in the middle of the 2 sides due to the drought. No reason to water grass they nobody will step on. Oh and rubber T's are $1 each and the guy made sure to find me a straight one, not sure it matters that much once it is stuck though the mat, but what ever I appreciate the effort. read more

This is a great practice facility that I have been frequenting lately. What I really like about this place is that they cycle in new practice balls quite often. I hear and see that you can hit off of the grass, but each time I have been there we were restricted to the mats (which I do not prefer). They also have a practice and a chipping green. The negative comment I have about this facility is that they do not have a practice bunker and the most distance away from the practice green that you can chip from is about 30 yards. When I'm in the Long Beach, Seal Beach area, I always, always do my practicing here at Old Ranch. It's a clean facility with a large practice putting green and a well maintained short game area. But it's greatest asset is its range. A long, huge range, which is used on both sides by the public (on the practice range end) and the private (on the private country club end). And if you can bomb it over 300 yards, you can hit some of those spoiled blue bloods who should be playing polo. Anyways, there are no grass tees here and that's okay because the synthetic grass tees here are very advanced and very soft. So if you hit one fat or skull one, you won't really feel it in your arms for ten minutes. As for the prices, sometimes they change. But for the most part its $6 for a small, $7 for a medium and $9 for a large. And these are huge buckets so you can practice for hours. The range is very wide and for the past six years that I have practicing here, I have never waited for a stall. One very good aspect of the range is that it is close to a Roger Dunn Golf Shop, which is on Seal Beach Boulevard. So if you just bought a new Titleist Driver (I play Titleists, I think everyone should)....you can give it its first test run here. They have a great pro on duty here his name is Bob Silver. He is an old school golf pro who can teach aspiring amateurs to newbies to the game. And he just charges $60 for an hour, which he always goes over. Great teacher, he is a little over enthusiastic about the game but I love that dearly. So when in LBC or in SB, go to Old Ranch Practice Facility and buy a bucket. It's near the ocean, so there's always a breeze. And it's near a Target and a Quizno's. It's open from I think 7am to 9pm. And its lighted as well for night practices. read more

I usually go here to practice. They stay open until 9pm, last bucket of balls sold at 8pm. This ranch offers a putting green, chipping green, and sand bunker to practice out of free of charge. Not many practice ranges have these amenities. One note, the range gets flooded after heavy rain so check with the shop to see if they're open before you stop by. read more

First time at a Driving Range. Played golf 2 times in my life and still don't understand the game. Took my 2 sons over to see what this was all about. Walked in and spoke with a gentleman by the name of Mark, told him this was our 1st time ever at a driving range. I asked the basic questions, equipment, price per person, etc. He answered them all and even gave us a quick lesson, good hearted person and informative. So off we go not knowing what to expect but after a few swings and half the bucket empty I went back for another. My sons and I enjoyed the whole experience. Mark even came back to check and chat with us. I honestly can't compare this to any other Driving range BUT we will be back and with the whole family! A pleasant place to practice, not too crowded and well kept facility. The practice balls used are in good condition, not over used range balls from other facilities. Another plus is that they actually keep their hitting mats in good condition and they are not uneven like make cheaper ranges I have visited. Price is a little high compared to some other ranges I have grown up with in OC, but you are paying for a well kept driving range. This place is N-I-C-E. Well kept range with perfect mats and a nice view. If you go in the afternoon the sun sets behind you which makes watching your drives a breeze. Pretty quiet and the short game area is really well kept too. My one complaint is that the attendant there was a real dickhead, extremely rude and unfriendly to say the least. The ball machine was jammed when I went and that sucked but it did give me all the balls I needed after the attendant begrudgingly fixed it. You have to buy your tees for a dollar each and the buckets are pricy and smaller in size but for how well this place is kept I would say it's a fair price. I don't know if this will be my home range because of the price and size of buckets but I will stop in again. read more

Excellent practice range. Balls and mats are always in good condition. Putting green, chipping area and practice bunker are what make this a complete practice area. The fact that it's connected to a private country club just means there standards are higher, and it shows (in my opinion). The staff is very friendly and you might even get a member price deal on some Travis Matthew gear. A little food (maybe burgers & Dogs on the grill on the weekend) would make it a 5 Star experience for sure! read more

I am here at least 2 days a week hitting a bucket. The early bird special of 7 dollars for more than a hundred balls is a bargain to say the least. The place is well maintained, fairly new to mostly new range balls. Wide open and even has covered stalls . Yes you have to buy your own tees but you can also put a standard golf tee right into the mat. The range is long and I have been there when someone can bomb one all the way to the members side.
