I've attended this practice for nearly forty years and have to say that all of the staff are very pleasant and do their best. My issue here is that I've had an infection in the roots of my teeth that has carried on for more than two years, although I've followed all instructions and showed up for all oral hygiene appointments, the infection did not clear. In fairness, I was set to have splinting, I cancelled the first due to lack of courage and funds, they cancelled the second appointment after I had had to wait over a month with my tooth falling out, because the dentist is only available three days a week since opening a new practice.
On speaking to a friend with the same problem, I attended an Orthodontist in Spain. This dentist immediately X-rayed my jaw and was alarmed by the infection in my mouth. He was so concerned by the infection that he fitted me into a packed surgery and treated me as an urgent case applying a specially made retainer and treating the infection (no, he didn't drill holes in the teeth either). Two days later the Orthodontist cleaned my teeth, the total bill was €160.00 and when the retainer came off one tooth, he reattached it for free. All treatment was done without pain relief and it didn't hurt one bit. It was a totally positive experience on every level.
When Paul O'Connell originally saw the infection in my mouth he told me that I would have to have four teeth extracted and pay €2,500 for a bridge. Not in Spain, if the roots of the tooth are infected, they must not be removed until the infection has gone otherwise the infection will spread. I will need dentures at a cost of approximately €300 versus €900 in Limerick.
If you have a filling, extraction or something straight forward the Old Quarter Dental Practice is just fine, and there's never a long wait to see the dentist. However, if you have more complicated issues, go to a specialist in the field to checkout your options. read more
