The least that the University could offer for the already small dorms is a good working heating and cooling system. I came to Arkansas this past fall 2025 and never had lived on my own before. I just thought that the bad temperatures were the "norm" for college dorms. After speaking with other students, I realized that this is not the case. While already in a stressful environment, the hot temperatures only make it worse. When I first moved in around August, it was about 80 to 90 degrees outside. This wasn't that new to me because I am from Texas. What I wasn't expecting though, was for it to be about the same temperature inside the building as well. I had even bought a cute comforter that I haven't been able to use because it has been too hot. Even with my thin blanket, I will still wake up sweating because it seems to get hotter at night. I have tried multiple times to change the temperature using the A.C. unit in our shared space but it does little to nothing. It also will switch back to the original temperature not long after. When reaching out to people to fix things in the dorm, they are quick to answer and get it done, but it just does not last.

For the last 13.5 years, I have gone to get massages here, and mostly they have been good up until…read morethe last year, where the quality of contact has diminished. I have always been gentle when filling out evaluations at the end of each massage because I realize these are student therapists and I am sensitive to students' feelings after teaching school for 39 years. When making my last appt. I specifically asked if they had someone who could give me a deep tissue massage, and the girl who called me back after a week and a half assured me they had seniors who could do this. In the pre-massage interview, I told the senior student that I wanted a deep tissue massage, and he assured me that he could do it. No, he couldn't, and I indicated such on his evaluation. This morning, an employee called to say she had read my "nasty" response and she just wanted to say that this was a student and she was sorry that that the visit was "not up to your standards." I reminded her that I had indicated on the evaluation that I wished I could be more positive and even drew a frown-y face. I absolutely was not nasty! She was extremely rude and condescending. Now I wish I had included how badly the sheet used for draping smelled. If you choose to go here, be sure and give glowing reviews on the evaluation. Otherwise, expect a phone call.

This is the big campus in the Arkansas system with something like 24,000 students. I recently was…read moreinvited here to lecture, so my review is more about my experience as a visitor than that of a student. I'm kinda surprised no other UA students have reviewed it yet. The buildings seem to mostly date from the 50's and 60's, parking is as you might expect a nightmare, but everyone I met was very nice and upbeat about the school. There have this terrific tradition of engraving the name of every student who graduated here on one of the sidewalks that criss cross the school. Considering its Fayetteville, northwest Arkansas, really no where, the faculty I encountered were very impressive and I think you can get a great education here.

Everything abstract stated in my review of the college as a whole (listed on the Bentonville campus review) extends quite completely to this location. As for the concrete, this is a building of several classrooms, where a student living nearby can pick up quite a few credits conveniently. If needing to get to Bentonville, there is a regular bus that goes campus to campus. I wouldn't hesitate to say this location provides an advantage for those students living in Springdale or toward Fayetteville, who needn't travel to Bentonville for every course they take.
