Loved our visit to the Jail museum. Our guide was Bobalew, and he did a fantastic job of telling us the history. Hope he gets a pardon soon. read more

Babadoo was great and hilarious. Great history on those walls. Totally recommend the tour.

What a wonderful experience. Fun and informative. Our jail bird guide, Edith, was amazing. Funny and knowledgeable. I would highly recommend her as your tour guide. read more

Deputy Otis made this tour worth every penny. He made the experience come to life. His tour is engaging, fun, informative and interactive. I had my reservation about the price, but Deputy Otis made it worth every penny. It's a short tour about 30 minutes, but it's worth it. Good for adults, but GREAT for young kids. My boys loved this museum when they were little. read more

Old Jail Museum - Landmarks & Historical Buildings Near Me - St. Augustine, Florida

The old jail was one of the few places we visited in St. Augustine. So it's a bit gimmick-y and a little bit touristy, but it's still fun especially if you have kids. My 10 year old neice loved it. The tour guides are such funny characters. It's a rain or shine event, and sadly it was pouring cats and dogs when we went which was quite uncomfortable. The first 20 minutes or so of the tour is outside, then the rest you go inside. Overall, I think I learned a few interesting facts about the history of it so I'd say it was money well spent. read more

Bobalew was hilarious and very knowledgable. He made sure everyone in the tour could see and hear and got a chance to take pictures. He was super nice. Go visit the old jail museum! You won't regret it. Thanks Bobalew from Heather and Ruby. read more

We live only an hour away and have never visited the Old Jail until yesterday. We are glad we did. It was very entertaining and just long enough to keep my son's attention. The tour guide was funny and kept it kid friendly. There's also other shops and buildings to go into afterwards. I didn't realize what all was there. I would recommend a visit if you haven't been. read more

Old Jail Museum - Our tour guide at the Old Jail. - Landmarks & Historical Buildings Near Me - St. Augustine, Florida

Great tour for all ages. Fun, interesting, and short enough to hold everyone's interest. The animatronic sheriff at the end was silly but I'm sure he's a hit with the younger crowd. The tour guide was very knowledgeable - I learned a bunch of historical facts about St. Augustine. He also stayed "in character" which made it fun. What I liked best was that it was fun and light-hearted but not too childish. I would have loved to see this place at night - it seems like a prime spot for a ghost tour. We heard rumors about there being an overnight at the Old Jail but couldn't find anything definite. read more

Super interesting and our guide Wiley was super good and funny. We had a great visit!

We had a tour with prisoner Felix (spelling could be off). It was AMAZING! We were hesitant to visit St. Augustine since we had children with us who typically are not interested in museums. Felix made it so interesting for them! My son (squirrel boy) was so into it and listened to every word! He even came home and did some research. Even my 5 year old was paying attention! Thank you Felix for making the entire experience fun for my children, in turn...making it fun for me as well! You're awesome :) read more

This was a fun and educational tour. Frank was an excellent tour guide. This was an operating prison until 1953. So much history. read more

Old Jail Museum - Great tour guide - Landmarks & Historical Buildings Near Me - St. Augustine, Florida

Went with a school group, and the kids thought this OK. We really did have an awesome tour guide and it was mildly interesting to me, mildly to the kids too. But for $10, I'd have been disappointed by the shortness of it all and how small the place is. read more

This was the most fun we had in St. Augustine! It is worth every penny, don't miss out. My husband is usually Mr. Grumpy - won't pay attention, doesn't engage, constant look of boredom - NOT HERE! Pearl was so interesting & engaging, he was smiling & even participated. I was thoroughly shocked. It was worth every penny & we loved it. read more

Went on this tour during a recent stay in St Augustine. I thoroughly enjoyed this tour with Sheriff Otis. He was engaging, informed, and entertaining with all the individuals in our party. I highly recommend this tour for anyone visiting the area. It's quite interesting and fun. read more

Make sure you get Benny as your guide. He's the best!! Very entertaining and gives you so many fun insights.

The Old Jail is one of the most historically interesting places to visit. Don't let the size of the building fool you, what it lacks in size it makes up in stories. For the tour I was taken to all places in the jail, seeing the history first hand and hearing the chilling tales of the past. Our tour guide was very friendly at the same time, he was very child friendly and did his best to make every aspect of our tour enjoyable. I thoroughly enjoyed visiting here and I had a ton of fun. I would highly recommend coming here if you are looking for something interesting to do in St. Augustine read more

I've seen the inside of better jails. Trust me. Wait a sec, that didn't come out right. I just was not impressed, and the stories are not very interesting. There are better things to do here with your time and money. Trust me. read more

Great look into the past! Our tour guide "prisoner trustee" Millie, was amazing! She really gets into the role to help you understand the workings of The Jail and how prisoners where treated at the time. The tour takes you from the grounds outside to the Sheriff's office all the way to the guard tower. Recommend checking it out if your into local history of St. Augustine. Tour is good for all ages. read more

What a fantastic tour! This was so much fun. Our guide was Patrick and I highly recommend waiting for him to be your guide. He was awesome and funny. Make sure you take this tour and the Oldest Store tour. Not kidding, these are two of the things you will remember most about St. Augustine! read more

Spent the day in St. Augustine and took the kids to the Old Jail Museum and they loved it. The tour is short, comical, and informative. I love that they relay the history through storytelling. I believe our guide was Ian and his jokes and punch lines were funny. read more

I decided to visit the Old Jail based on recommendations. They offer free parking which is a plus, given the lack of free parking in the city. We walked around and took pictures in the Old Jail wagon. I was looking forward to entering the jail. Our family of 4 paid 40 dollars to join a tour group. I was a bit disappointed we were not going to be able to roam around the jail on our own. The disappointment continued throughout the short tour. It was interesting but definitely overpriced. The whole experience lasted around 20 minutes. Our guide was a bit dull and we couldn't really get into the stories. I believe this city has much better attractions to offer. read more

08/14/2020 We went to the old jail After Dark tonight and it was a great experience and time. And very very scary Emmanuel was one of our investigators and he was AWSOME! This is what he was made for ! He is passionate about it and has many cool and fascinating stories to tell. I could sit and talk to him all day about this stuff. Thank you so much Old Jail After Dark ! read more

One of my favorite places we went to while on vacation in Jacksonville. SO worth the $13 and Jasper was absolutely incredible! Such a fun, family oriented time. You will absolutely not regret it! read more

Everyone we talked to seemed very knowledgeable but our guide Tully, made the whole experience! He was right into his character from the beginning and never faltered. If the rest of the guides are half as good as Tully, I'd highly recommend this tour! read more

We took a short vacation in St Augustine and had a couple rainy days so we decided to go check out the old jail we heard so much about. I have 2 teenaged boys 15&16 and they really enjoyed it. Frank was our guide and he made it very interesting and fun. Be sure to stick around after and check out the shops. Highly recommend! read more

The tour started with just the wife and I, the Deputy Sheriff patroled the yard and kept his inmates in line, inmate Bobalew began his tour with a few one liners keeping us warm with laughter from the cold rain pouring down on us. The tour was solid with historic peices throughout, sad and disturbing tales of the life of an inmate in 1908 and a few jump scares. Bobalew displayed great knowledge and good humor. A good tour for anyone looking to burn a few minutes and hear some good tales. read more

How fun! These guides really put you in the time period that this jail was open and full of jail birds! They make it so realistic and at the same time you take in so much history! The place was very nice and set up perfectly. I suggest getting a guide! The experience is so much fun! They also have a gift store that is fully stocked! read more

Interesting and entertaining.A must see at least once! Staff friendly and interactive, great place for pictures and excellent for families!

This is a fun, educational tour for both children and adults. Reasonably priced in comparison to some other attractions/museums.

This was fun and interesting. The fact that the guide is in character just adds to the cool factor. My five-year-old even enjoyed the jail, and the tour guide was awesome at interacting with him along the way. We purchased the admission with the trolley tour, and we weren't disappointed. It gives you a great glimpse into history. read more

Old Jail Museum - Landmarks & Historical Buildings Near Me - St. Augustine, Florida

The Old Jail has a fascinating history - expect to learn all about it in books. While debatably accurate to the time period I've never experienced such a patronizing, aggressive historical site tour lacking real historical facts. Don't waste your time. read more

This is a must see in St Augustine! The tour was fun and informative - even the 5 children with us loved it! Bobalew was the BEST tour guide... Child friendly but definitely held the interest of the adults too. read more

This museum is cheesy and 100% a tourist trap! However, the tour guides try to make it a fun experience which almost is worth the price of admission. I wouldn't recommend spending the money for a solo trip to the museum, but part of a tour package would be acceptable. read more

Patrick was our tour guide and he knocked it out of the park. He did such a great job personalizing the tour for our group. Patrick stayed in character & remained very theatric. He really made it a memorable tour. After the tour we asked him for a photo, he then ran my husband & I around a few spots to take some of the two us- which was so fun for us! 10/10 recommend taking the tour with him! read more
