As a PGA golf professional, I have played so many outstanding golf courses. This course hands down is the most scenic and most enjoyable course that I have ever seen or played. The views are breathtaking. Take a caddy as they can guide you and point out places that you would miss if you were on your own. You won't regret playing Old Head!

I have played Pebble 6 times, Pinehurst, Whistling Straits and many other great courses but in my humble opinion this is the most scenic, dramatic and fun course I have ever played. From the lighthouse that is a point that has had light for 3000 years, to a fort structure from 1000BC and crazy cliff and ocean views from every fairway this course has it all. I will come back to Ireland and play this more than once. The fairways were in great condition and the clubhouse is also fantastic. Unbelievable.
Old Head should be able to get more than 5 stars! The course is breathtaking and the views cannot be beat. There are not enough positive adjectives to describe the facilities, amenities, course and views. Make sure to take your time and enjoy the opportunity. The highlight will be tee 12 (have your camera ready) Extra touch was the golf tag and tees at the start. Restrooms were perfectly placed too. Make sure to take some extra balls because you do not want to chance grabbing yours from the cliffs. A lot of historic sights along the way too. read more

WOW!! What made to say about this amazing Golf Course! We were lucky enough to get the last tee time available during our stay in Ireland, we didn't realize September was the peak golf season at Old ahead. We were fortunate enough o nav the last 2 tee times during our stay. The views were breathtaking! If you're an avid golfer then this should be a MIST DO while in Ireland! read more

May just be the best course in the world. The views are unreal, the layout fantastic. On 18 walk back to blacks for one of the most fantastic looks on any hole. Caddies a must but splurge on a senior caddy. The superlatives and adjectives just don't do this place justice. Bucket list course Every hole is better than the next the par 3 are intimidating as they are set on the edge of clips 300 ft up. Par 4 are long greens fast. A challenge for sure especially if you let your mind wander about the views. It's been said it's like pebble beach on steroids. read more

It is difficult to put into words the feeling you get as you pull through the gate at Old Head. The staff was extremely friendly from the moment you pull in, the locker room was unbelievable, and the beauty of the grounds is unmatched. I played my first and probably only round here in June of 2009. The starter (Paddy) couldn't have been more helpful with what to expect and explaining the history of the course. The first hole was a rather simple and straightforward par 4, nothing different from a typical starting hole in the US. Then you walk to #2 and have an amazing view of the cliffs and water to your left. . . the next several holes are along the water and beautiful. The course then weaves in and out of the peninsula, with panoramic shots from every area of the course. It is amazing to me how this course has still not cracked the top 100 courses in the world, some say the layout is simple, maybe, but so is St. Andrews. Luckily for me I played on a calm, not a cloud in the sky, 70 degree day, but I could only imagine how difficult the course would be in the wind or rain. While it can be difficult to make a trek out to Old Head without a rental car (we hired a taxi from Kinsale), it is definitely worth trying to play if you are anywhere near the area. read more

We stayed at old head. Wow the room and views are spectacular and you get to use the spa room which is a bonus. My husband and son played golf and I walked along. Each hole has amazing views. They got a caddie, roger, who was wonderful. He was helpful to the golfers and was very informative on the history, flowers and countryside. It is a must to get a caddie. read more
