A proper, old fashioned pub with low ceilings, low lighting and a friendly atmosphere. The walls and ceilings are hung with old farm implements and antiques. Many of the tables have cast-iron sewing machine table legs, and you can pass a good hour working out what some of the strange decorations were once used for -- ploughs and other farm machinery, flour mills and other kitchen cupboard treasures.
There is tasty, basic food of offer, and the Sunday lunch is rather good. Handy to the town centre, and next door to the City and County pub, but much quieter and more homely. read more
