There are weekday and Sunday services held here, as well as group meetings such as Toddler Church, Sunday Sparks, Rainbows/Brownies/Guides, Choir rehearsals and card classes. The church has good community links and is closely connected to St Nicholas' school nearby. The hall is also used as a polling station in local and general elections.

This church is haunted and figures have been seen on a few occasions by myself and my neighbour,…read morenot so long ago there was a figure of a man who walked along the wall edge and just disapeared on the other side of a tree dressed in a white coat, it was 3.40 am so if it wasn't a spirit it was a nutter. Seems a nice church though as churches go but as the above mentioned there's lots of functions on and some of them get out of hand with youngsters throwing glasses and bottles over our walls. Plus after using the church half the time the lights are left on and they stay on all weekend lighting all the streets bedrooms up all night which is really inconsiderate. There should be someone available to check all the lights are turned off and the place is locked up also so no one can wander around at 3.20 am in the morning. Lots of people get married in this church because it has a beautiful stained glass window which we see all lit up on many occasions! Great place for visitors and parishioners alike not so good for people who have to live here, but hey that's life. Nearly forgot there's also a gardener who likes nothing more to do than start up a petrol power strimmer at 6am on a Saturday morning but as the above author wrote it's fun !!

The reverend Ned Kelly is in charge, he's a fairly youngish vicar, very jolly and frienly, ofetn seen in the local area. The church is lovely inside, very traditional, and a good size. there is a large church hall at the back which is used a lot, Brownies, Guides, Scouts, Community groups etc. They also host pensioners meetings, residents meetings, and have a pantomine every year, usually in February, which is hilarious because its so bad.

However, inside this contemporary building is bright, fresh and airy, and the hall is very welcoming. Slimming World meetings were held here weekly (I believe they still are) and I was, at one time, a regular member hence my knowledge of the interior.

Over the years I have experienced: little church; first holy communions;…read moreconfirmations; midnight masses and christmas choir recitals; easter celebrations with homemade palms and creme eggs, and countless services. The local congregation many of whom went to my primary and secondary school are all friendly locals who are charitable and compassionate joining in wholeheartedly with community fundraisers and appeals. The parish holds close ties with it's local namesake St Edmund's School which stands beside it. The large brick building connected to the lower school is the parish hall where lots of local clubs such as dance groups meet.

Besides the obligatory masses which take place on Sundays (also held Saturday evening) and weekdays Monday, Wednesday, Friday, there are events held to unite the church with the local community: CAFOD action group for example, and FAIRTRADE FORTNIGHT. St Joseph's "Litlle Church" and "Tiny Church" aimed at under 5s is also well reputed.
