They have a mock control center for launching a rocket with vibrations. There's also a water park with a 747 on top the building with 4 water slides coming out of it. That looked fun. The Musuem is officially open as of July 2025, after being closed for renovations since 2009…read more Musuem is located at Camp Withycombe, an active facility for Oregon National Guard. You must present valid identification at the gate before proceeding to musuem. The displays show Oregon military history from it's settling in the 1800's through current times. It has an incredible vault displaying military weapons through history and an art exhibit created by veterans. There are many volunteers on site who are eager to answer questions and inform about the history of the exhibits. In the back, there is a library for research and archives of the military. The library is open by appointments only on Thursdays and Fridays. I found the 7051 nails being pounded on plank of Douglas Fir representng each of US Servicemen that were killed during Afghanistan and Iraq Wars quite sad. You see it physically in front of you and it's a memory of how many we lost during the wars. All things considered, it is an amazing experience with multiple trips needed to fully absorb everything on display or to see new items as some displays have new items rotated in. The Musuem is open from Wednesdays to Saturdays 10am to 4pm. Year round.

This museum has many impressive displays following various time periods from the spanish-American…read morewar through WW2 accompanied by plaques with explanations about the people, munitions, armament, clothing, food, etc. that were involved. Unfortunately, a lot of the explanations have revised histories that fit a modern trend to negatively over simplify America's motives & to demonize people who were actually saints. Still, the staff was wonderful & generous with their time and knowledge.

The Oswego Heritage House is a wonderful resource for the entire community. Mark Browne, the…read morearchivist, is absolutely the most knowledgeable person about Lake Owego history and seeks to learn more all the time. He is quick to educate others and share what he thinks they will find fascinating. Mark is on a quest to know more for himself, and preserve the history, and creates exhibits that build community and community relationships. This is the best kind of museum, in my opinion, as it cultivates community and adds to the importance of knowing one another. Nancy is the Executive Director, and truly makes sure each guest of the museum and user of the space is welcomed and helped. She is quick to promote others, and advocate for the betterment of this community she calls home. It's so refreshing to visit the museum and experience the local charm, and history of Lake Oswego. It is fascinating enough for a younger person to enjoy a quick visit, and is available to be rented and used for events and parties. Nancy has made sure this museum is a resource to our community.

I ventured into this lovely little place today with two children that I homeschool with pretty much…read moreno expectations. We are working on a project that has to do with Lake Oswego history, and had heard that this place was worth checking out. We went to walk in, only to realize that the door says it closes at 3 [website says 4].... we were about to be disappointed when we saw someone inside, so we ended up walking in. There was only one woman working [same who is always there], and she was more than happy to let us come in and peruse. The one-room exhibit had all sorts of random artifacts... from locally recovered arrowheads, to an old telephone and camera, to some great old pictures, to antique clocks. While we did enjoy checking those out, we learned much more from the woman...who walked around with us explaining and expanding upon the info that was there. She was very friendly, and full of interesting tidbits about the community and it's history. The kids loved talking to her, and she laughed and was 'interested' in what they had to say as well. Before we left, she even fired up an old victrola and played us a few albums... to which she laughed and danced with us... the kids loved it! Quite a random little place, but glad that we stopped. Apparently they host all sorts of events, and have new exhibits every month... so we'll probably wander back in again sometime. And hey, it's free! If you live in LO and/or are interested in it's history... I'd suggest a stop. Not a place I'd drive across town to visit, but it was definitely a fun and educational experience.... you have to appreciate those who preserve and teach others about local history [or at least I know that I do!].

The weather didn't cooperate, but when does it in Oregon? After almost two years of watching the…read morerestoration of the historic Arch Bridge, the Willamette Falls Festival celebrated the reopening of the link between West Linn and Oregon City by the scenic falls. The organizers planned a nice event. A 3-day festival and each day has a different theme: Friday - "An Evening of Arts & Culture" Saturday - "Family fun Day" Sunday - "Get Active Day" The rain put a bit of a damper on some of the activities, but it was still a nice, small town event. In downtown Oregon City, the focus of the festival, you could walk around town to the sounds of a barbershop quartet. There was a small farmer's market on one block and an artisan's market on the next. We saw fireworks Saturday night from the McLoughlin Promenade. On Sunday there is a 5k Fun Run, as well as a run/bike/paddle race starting at Clackamette Park. It is also the official bridge reopening for walkers, bikes and antique cars. We enjoyed this festival all weekend long and one of the highlights for me was taking the trolley tour of Oregon City and West Linn. We were lucky to have the President of the Old Willamette Historical Society as our guide. Very informative and just a lovely way to continue to learn more about our local area. Many of the historic homes in the area, on both sides of the river, were also open expanded hours and volunteers in period costume were there to provide information, assistance and a dose of fun. The Arch Bridge will officially open to traffic at 5:00a on Monday.
