We adopted Amos from OK Save a Dog in April of 2014. It was a battle, but it was clear to me that Kim really cares about the homes that her dogs go to and the likely hood that the home will be a forever home. Put in the effort, show that you care and are willing to be the right family for the dog that you are interested in. If you aren't approved, take it as constructive criticism to revaluate your home/family for the type of dog you want to adopt. These women are doing amazing work to protect and care for so many animals that are just thrown away. So proud to support them in their mission! read more

If I could give them a negative rating I would. Please use caution. We adopted a dog through them. There were so many last minute changes before the adoption it should have given us red flags. Their contract stated we had to microchip the dog with the chip they provided. Then we found out from our vet that the chip could only be read by one type of reader (that even our vet couldn't read) so we also had to pay to have a 2nd universal microchip inserted. After adopting we found out the dog had been considered aggressive from animal welfare and we were not told this up front either. At our home, the dog viciously attacked one of our cats and tried to attack a visitor in our home. Had my husband not had a leash on him there's no telling what would have happened. Because we have teenagers and other animals we decided it was not safe to have this dog in our home. The contract stated we could only return the dog to them (were not allowed to rehome it) should anything not work out. When we contacted the rescue they said that they would have to find another foster first. When we explained the situation and that we did not feel safe with this dog in our home the lady Kim gave us attitude and blamed us for trying to go around her in adopting this dog and that she said he never was a right fit for our home. It took an act of God for us to return the dog to the foster that we got him from. And get this...the lady from the rescue had never even met this dog. She made so many changes and said so much about the contract that was never in it. She was extremely difficult to work with and you can only contact her via email, which good luck on getting NC any timely response from her. This whole process was a nightmare. We have also found out that they are trying to adopt this dog out again and are still not telling future prospective dog owners about this dog's aggressive tendencies or being up front about what he has done with prior families. We will NEVER use this rescue to adopt another dog. She should not be in this business. BEWARE of this organization. Dogs deserve so much better! read more
