My handicapped mother had to walk up two flights of stairs in the hotel. How is that even legal?

The beef patty was seasoned with some sort of magic - it was really good. Chips were standard with the burger, or fries (which we already had for an appetizer), so I got the onion rings. We were so full -- all four of us took home leftovers. We should have ordered dessert. The dessert menu had Tiramisu and two other choices. Too full... Wait... wrapped cinnamon rolls w/frosting? We're thinking that it will be similar to a very famous U.P. restaurant/bakery that is on top of a Hill nearby. Wrong. THE CINNAMON ROLL is AMAZING. I will request any person who travels through the area to stop in and buy as many as possible for me. The dough has a pleasantly sweet flavor that enhances the spice, not masking it. I tasted a hint of almond extract - was it the sugared filling? The frosting? I don't know, and I am too busy scarfing this down so that I don't have to share it with anyone. Go get one.

Ample linens, mini fridge/microwave helpful and a window that opened for fresh lake air was nice too. Also pretty soundproof room (ours was 3rd floor)

LaRose Wellness Retreat, hosted by Cheryl LaRose, passed both the safety and comfort test with flying colors! Cheryl was genuinely kind, and shared her attention equally amongst all the couples staying that weekend. Yay for human equality! Obviously, Cheryl is a wonderful hostess -- just a genuine human being! Staying with her really did feel like being at home (if home was on a beautiful lake with kayaks, a hot tub, and organic chocolate chip cookies available at all times). Our room had the touch of an interior designer. The decor is a harmonious blend of Scandinavian Modernity (a nod to the Scandinavian history in the area) with Old Country Charm. Her place is located close to downtown L'anse. You definitely can run around visiting all the attractions (waterfalls, hiking trails, Copper Harbor) or you can eat your weight in fresh fish and custard at all the mom n' pop restaurants. Your last option is to bring a book and alternate between reading in the hammock overlooking Lake Superior and reading in the hot tub like I did. Breakfast was a plethora of options (granola, strawberries/blueberries/mango and more fruit, coffee, boiled eggs, bread and jam, gluten free options, cold cereal fixings, and homemade peanut butter zucchini muffins to name a few). Her dog, Peaches, is a lover! No lint roller needed as she doesn't shed, and she smells just like an indoor dog should...odorless! Support Cheryl -- you will enjoy your stay. Peace and Love!

Went to the room to clean up after a long day of Wisconsins beautiful north woods. We decided to eat a sandwich inside their dining area, absolutely delicious food. Both of us decided to go to the bar and play video poker, not much luck , but that's expected. Here is why they get one star. I took a can of Budweiser from their bar ( my 4th paid for beer) to my room to get another $400 to invest in a game I thought would pay out. I arrived down stairs to get confronted ( I was in room 203) by a young man that "watched " me go in and out of my room on video and said I couldn't come into the casino with the beer. I questioned him on why I can't come back with the same beer, he said he seen me get a beer ( which I did not). Is there a camera in my room, did you also see the $400 I grabbed that I donated as the troops followed me from one machine to another when I went back down? The shift manager approached me ( he was good guy) and we talked. I asked him to have his dogs back off, which they did not. At that point it was off to my room and write my first review ever. By the way , I've been to Atlantic City, Vegas , Laughlin and a couple casinos not all that far away from Watersmeet, good luck.

Casino was pretty decent, some older games but fun. We ate in the restaurant and dinner was very good. We were given two tickets for $3 off on "breakfast". Unlike the night before, our waitress was EXTREMELY unpleasant and "huffed" like any request we made was a major inconvenience for her. My sister had politely requested water with no ice as she has sensitive teeth...the huff. Sister asked for milk, brown sugar, toast, and raisins with her oatmeal. She was brought a half juice glass of milk with a large bowl of oatmeal and no spoon. Sister had to request more milk...huff. There were no spoons in the tableware. I gave my sister the spoon that came with my tea to avoid having to make more requests. There was no jelly or jam on the table or brought with my meal, so I had to ask for some...again, the huff. When we went to pay, we were told that only one coupon could be used with breakfast. I said our waitress did not offer separate checks. AFTER it was split, we were told that oatmeal was not considered breakfast...wtf. I also complained a bit about waitress Christine...found out she was manager...and unhappy about having to fill in on Memorial Day weekend. This woman is a very poor example for the people she manages...huff. I left a dollar tip but if I had known she was the manager, I would have left 2 cents.

The room was nice, well organized with plenty of plugs and space. The queen beds are not true queen size beds, but rather "hotel queens," meaning they are several inches narrower than a standard queen. This is not a knock, but it's worth noting if the person you share a bed with gets violent if you impose on their sleeping space. The shower was very good but the hot water cuts in and out depending on others using the hot water in nearby rooms. Very clean and comfortable. A bit of an odd odor that comes from older hotels, but nothing that should deter you from staying here. The value was great! The location was great for our purposes of exploring. 4.5 stars!

The parking was good, and covered parking. That could help in Hancock in the winter. On the second floor they had a large, elevated patio space that would be good for an outdoor sitting area to relax. The not so good; there is no elevator. If you have mobility problems, you should know that and do everything you can to request a first-floor room. We did not explore the layout of the hotel, but it looked like there were some areas on the first floor that also required you to climb a few steps. The next issue was breakfast. To be fair, they make it very clear on their signage it is a "continental breakfast". Most name brand hotels also say this, but they have a decent spread. Here, it is almost all carbs, cereal, or yogurt. As an added bonus, it is a big hotel, and the breakfast area is tiny! We couldn't find a seat, so we were just going to take some food back to the room, but the room is so small you could barely move, then when we saw the food, we knew we were going to need to find a restaurant. We were there two nights and going out for breakfast added to the cost of the stay. I will also say, for what they charge a night, they could afford to have a decent breakfast. This was not a low-end hotel pricewise. We would stay again, for the room and the bed, but we'd be wiser.
