He made a normal sized pizza: 1/2 plain cheese and 1/2 with 2 toppings. This was a really thin crust pizza. So, ask for it to be sliced or it will be a long time cold before you can slice your way through it. All of pizza had fresh toppings were fresh, nothing out of a can. The sauce was really really good. It was subtle, sweet, and not over seasoned with oregano and garlic, like other pizza places usually do. The crust, for me was too thin and hard. That's just a personal preference. This place had real Italian combinations on the pizzas, not the usual bizarre combos one finds in Finland. The cheese topping was real Italian cheese not Edam or sone other random Euroshopper hellacious cheese mix. Basically, this was the most authentic Italian pizzeria, that I've been to in Finland. All the products are imported from Italy and it is evident in the genuine taste of the pizzas.

I arrived at Skiffer after doing some research here on Yelp. I saw that it had a number of English reviews, which helped me understand it better, but it was also right next to my hotel (Klaus K) and so I decided to simply show up. It was just me, so I was hoping they had some kind of bar area where I could sit down and continue reading my intoxicating novel while sipping on a glass of wine and waiting for the food. And they did - yay! I'd read about the Fisherman's Friend pizza and although I'm typically not the person that would opt for fish, I did go ahead and ordered it nevertheless. Truth be told, the different kinds of fish on one single pizza did worry me a little, but in the end I was amazed on how well they complemented each other; the poached egg and the shaved fennel were simply the icing of the cake! I was looking forward to a good Neapolitan pizza but the dough was too soft and thin to hold the toppings, and the tomato sauce was almost liquid'y and dripping, making it very messy to eat. I actually struggled to cut the pizza with the provided knife because the dough was so thin; it would have been much easier if they sliced the pizza before serving. With flavors as subtle as that of the margherita pizza, the basil is such an important component and I wish they hadn't skimped on it - a little more would have definitely improved the dish.
