Out of all the yelp and google reviews this one stood out to me. I inquired to get a quote and received a call same day to go over pricing. The call was the perfect balance of inquiry, salesman ship but most importantly true aloha spirit. I got other quotes all similar in pricing but didn't have the same experience I did with my initial quote call. Because of the customer experience I chose this company. I reached out to inquire about scheduling an install and the hard part was done for me, this company truly made the whole process seem less. This is a family owned and operated business in Mililani that specialize in water heaters. They are fast, friendly and efficient and even haul away your old heater at no extra cost, what more can you ask for!? I called Friday morning around 8:30am and they were at my place around 12:30pm. Come to find out my water heater was less than 6 years old. They offered to stop working at no charge if I wanted to reach out to the previous installer since I should be under warranty. I declined because my experience with the previous company wasn't the best and they were already there. Martin offered a $100 discount because he felt bad that we were having to get a new water heater so soon. I was very grateful for his kindness and it made me even happier that I was able to support this small family run local business. The job was done in about an hour and Martin even helped me register my water heater online. He told me I had a 6 year warranty on the heater and 2 year warranty on labor. I will definitely reach out to Air-O-Smith again with any future water heater needs and have already referred one of my neighbors. Dan installed a 17" bowl height toilet, and we have a 2" high bidet on it adding it to just shy of a 20" toilet seat height. Dan came in, assessed the job, and went right to work. He's definitely the guy, as he assembled, installed and operated to ensure no issues. Dan was right on time, was great about prepping his area where he was working and cleaned up nicely. It's our 2nd time utilizing Dans business, I'm a big believer of patronizing the small local businesses, versus the bigger name commercial companies. This is overdue but I have to change my rating from a 5 star to a 1 star after issues that I had…read morewith a leak from my toilet installation leading to drywall ceiling damages and Dan being non-responsive during this time. It was a slow lead discovered by another plumber that I had to hire to fix the leak because Dan did not follow-up with any communication through either text or phone which I had requested. If any of you know when you call Dan's cell (that's the only way to contact him) he may answer the phone but always leaves a voice message to tell you that the best way to reach him is to leave a text message as "pretty much your voice mail will not get a response"...That being said you would expect Dan to either call you back or text you back which I had none. I discovered the leak on Friday night (at the time not knowing the exact source of the leak except that it was leaking from the newly installed toilet installation from Dan. I left a message for him to call me and to ask if he would be able to take a look next day Saturday since his hours are 8:00 am to noon and to let me know either way so I could look for other plumbers to resolve the leak in the event he was not able to come. I also, left a text message as well. I did not hear from him with either a call or text, so I called at 8:00 am on Sat and every 1/2 hour there after hoping he would respond which he didn't. I reached out to another YELP plumber, and he was able to service me and discovered that the leak was from either the new water supply line (supplied by Dan) was defective or was not tighten enough at the toilet tank, which led to a slow drip down to my downstairs ceiling. The leak was eventually fixed by the plumber after doing some troubleshooting, but my ceiling was damaged and needed to dry out over several days to prevent mold from growing. I continued to call and text Dan on Sun, Mon with no response, when on Tuesday he finally answered. I told him about the leak and damage but WHY he did not bother or have the courtesy to call back and/or text back knowing I had a leak because of his work? I mentioned I was contemplating filing a complaint to BBB and DCCA about his business practice of not responding and that triggered him to go into a raging fit with "F-Bombs" and telling me to go ahead with filing a frivolous complaint because DCCA would assess me $500 for filing a false claim which I know would never happen, but I found his threat ironic, since I initially gave Dan a 5 star review and recommended his service to others? He later texted me and offered to send his handyman to repair my ceiling, but I declined to have further contact with someone who failed to communicate by either phone and/or text back to a customer who gave him a 5-star rating and recommended his service and starts throwing out "F-Bombs" at them? Coincidentally, right after my unfortunate incident during 11/8-11/12, there were a couple of complaints 1-star incidents around the same time and now "Dan Does Plumbing" is temporarily close until November 11, 2025, yet there is a holiday schedule for Dec 2024 and an active business hour of operation on his Yelp Page? Dan's Business phone still works so despite the Yelp site saying it's temporarily closed, so I believe Dan is still taking on plumbing work and if so, I cannot recommend him to anyone. Take your chances if you do, but "it's a red flag" when he doesn't text or call you back
