    Me!

During our recent visit to Portland, we searched vegan breakfast places and were also recommended this place by my friend who is local to town. It's really good and has a unique spin on classics like the waffles made with blue corn. We loved and enjoyed everything from space to locate to service and food.

Cute breakfast/brunch spot with vegan, vegetarian & gluten free options. Off The Griddle has non vegan egg and cheese options for the vegetarians. I love the variety on their menu and they offer a great cocktail menu as well as beer. I ordered the Brunch Wrap Supreme - this was the breakfast of my vegan dreams! With house made veg chorizo and house made cheese sauce it was delightful. -service was friendly and fast -street parking -no reservations

Very veggie weekly special mac. Hope this becomes a regular menu item because it is insanely delicious.

I bring own of town guests here for brunch on the regular and keep coming back because it's so good. Vegan by default, chicken eggs and dairy cheese available on request. Generous portions, damn fine coffee, and I love the rotating kombuchas on tap. Be warned the the waffles are larger than your head and very dense/filling so great for sharing! Be prepared to wait on weekends. Pro tip: the garden store next door is a great place to browse while waiting for your number to come up :)

Had a super delicious Fri morning brunch at Off the Griddle! I ordered the Hashtastic (potatoes, butternut squash, kale, Brussels sprouts, cashew ricotta) and added their herb tofu scramble and pickled onions. I ate it with a lot of Tapatio because I love hot sauce. PHENOMENAL. I'm a big potato and tofu lover, but don't tend to love butternut squash or warm kale, but everything was delicious in this. The ratios were perfect. 10/10, no notes.

Delicious. I'm not vegan but I used to be and would come here a lot with my family. I like that they offer eggs and cheese to those who aren't vegan. The biscuits are amazing and so is the tempeh. I love the tofu scramble and honeslty just everything I've had here has been so good. My very non vegan boyfriend also really enjoys the food, which is rare for him. Can't recommend this place enough!

I'm not vegan, or vegetarian, but what matters in any restaurant is the yumminess. And these folks do a good job. Wonderful cinnamon roll and no idea it was vegan. Had the feast waffle, and the buckwheat a little dense and dry--helped by having some hash browns inside the waffle, along with a little sausage & alleged vegan cheese. the gravy is excellent. they have quite a broad menu, and I'll be back to try something else--maybe biscuits and gravy or mac and cheese. And the place has such a friendly, homey feel, thanks in large part to the service. You don't have to be vegan to enjoy off the griddle!

After hearing such great things about Off the Griddle, I've been looking forward to trying out their infamous waffles. Sadly, I felt very disappointed by the Berries & Cream Waffle. The waffle itself was okay but had a cornmeal taste to it. There was also barely any berries or jam making the overall taste rather bland and dry. The space here is overall casual and relatively small with a few tables to dine in. The staff here were very friendly and inviting, which is why I would give this place at least 2 stars. I can't say I will be returning however nor would I recommend coming here.

Ordered the full mess and grapefruit mimosa. The kitchen staff are quick. It took less than 10 minutes for our food to come out fresh. The full mess was loaded with gravy on top of hash brow, but I felt like it made the hash brow soggy which was disappointed. The biscuit was yummy. Not dry. The restaurant was super busy on a Sunday brunch, but the playlist was rad. Attentive staff.

Stopped in for breakfast and really enjoyed everything we ordered! So good. Both plates had great flavor. Also loved the calm ambiance.

I recommend eating the waffle like a pizza!

This place! I hadn't eaten here in a couple of years and it's still just as incredible as always. Very friendly staff and we'll look at the pics of the berry waffle! Vegan foodgasm

Blue Plate & Brunch Wrap Supreme

I haven't been to many vegan brunch spots, but if you are craving a heavy, southern-style/American breakfast, this may be the perfect spot for you. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, but the inside is very cute and gives off the vibe of a Southern home. Their menu is pretty vast, with both sweet and savory options. They have items ranging from waffles, mac n' cheese, burritos, wraps, all with different protein options. I saw someone sitting near me and their wrap so amazing, so I ordered one for myself too. Their food is SO good, and very flavorful. Overall though, it wouldn't be my favorite brunch place as their items tend to be really heavy for a first meal (LOTS of protein, sauce, big portions)--but! that is something totally up to my own preference. The food is amazing and I think it gives vegans (and non-vegans) a great choice!

This place is so good. Everything I have had here is delicious. Love the brunch wrap supreme and the basic b waffle. Wife loves the hashtastic with tofu and the berries and crème waffle. Delicious stuff. Busy on the weekend so go mid week like us.

Unique waffles. Easy to customize. From my understanding, everything was vegan. We asked to be seated inside but there was a wait. Opted for outdoor to-go ordering. Ordered two plain waffles with butter and syrup and a berries and cream. Lemonades and sodas. Total: $60.xx before gratuity The plain waffles were blue. Very interesting color for a waffle. I would describe it as a fluffy but dense waffle. It wasn't my favorite but it was ok. I appreciated that everything was vegan. The berries and cream waffle was a lot more delicious. The cream on it didn't taste vegan but it was great. Service was subpar. Might go back if we can get some indoor seating.

Spectacular heavy cream biscuit with local Oregon strawberries and a lovely whipped cream, legit, not the aerosolized kind. I highly recommend starting your day with this. We also shared the shredded pork eggs Benedict. I liked it a lot, although I generally appreciate a bit more lemon taste in hollandaise sauce, but this hollandaise was so creamy, smooth and flavorful, I'm not mad. The breakfast potatoes served with this are very tasty - delightfully seasoned and perfectly cooked - crispy outside and fluffy inside. The coffee was very good. Our server, Jared B., was great; just enough interaction to be sure we had what we needed at all times, and as personable as he was efficient. Beautiful location that was spotless and comfortable.

We got here at 10am on a Monday, and every table was filled. It looked like they had numerous staff, but I would guess that the traffic level must be hard to manage. Perhaps because of this, my order of Sawmill breakfast was very poorly prepared. The gravy was luke warm at best. The eggs had the texture of frozen powdered egg that was just thawed. The biscuit was like a brick and hard to eat. I also saw numerous other patrons who were leaving their scrambled eggs untouched. The chicken tenders were warm and delicious, and the quiche was decent. Salad was probably the highlight. Besides that, I think the vibes inside the restaurant were very beautiful and memorable. Just unfortunate that the food was very sub par. I probably wouldn't recommend if you were trying to impress someone important.

The garlic fries were spicy in the best way, perfectly crisp, and served steaming hot. When I asked the server if it was good, they told me that people travel to the restaurant specifically for that dish. I'm glad I tried it. Again, very unique with a well balanced spice profile paired with the delicious undertones of a hot pancake. I know I would have never thought of that, doesn't sound like it should work, but....it worked! Service was great, atmosphere was a bit loud with a band playing next door, it was a bit overwhelming, plus a random dude walked into the restaurant and a server lit his joint for him as a courtesy(?)...stunk the place up for a few minutes, but as I thought about it, I decided that was about the most "Portland" thing I had seen all week on my trip :) I'll be going back for sure, I would love to taste through that entire menu.
