This locally owned business has been around forever -used to be one of the 3 Hugo's, was located on broadway, where it is now Jimmy Johns. Don't know the story but here they are, off broadway. Went in on a Saturday around 2, so it was pretty empty. The 2 young ladies behind the counter were friendly and accommodating. I got a 1/2 turkey bacon avocado. As with most places, the meat to bread ratio was too much bread for me - but way more than subway etc. my son got a kiddo ham sandwich. We both got a white soft roll and t as a bit mushy for my taste but I'm kindof a bread snob, don't eat if often and come from a town with some killer delis. So far nothing here compares to any of them (and it's been 17 years) Again. Way better bread than any of the chains, and offers several options - including sliced sourdough, which is nice. No pickles for sale, sadly. But the ones they add to your Sammie are pretty tasty. Wished for a larger chip selection, but they have several Hanover's pretzel selections, which is unique and those things are yummo. What I really liked about this place was it's "vibe". Good energy. Front windows plastered with local upcoming events and business advertisements, casual but respectful service --- and plants. Big plants. That they nurture and love. There's several, including an avocado tree and a beautiful orange tree. Women's restroom was clean and had some large birch branches in it, eclectic, simple decor and again. Kinda cool. Used to be my place to go for sandwiches, stopped by today and got this sandwich that i couldve made at home...hardly any meat.and didnt get sauerkraut i asked for.these used to be awesome big sandwiches, but have gone downhill...how sad! I'm a little picky of what I can and cannot eat. I usually always order a veggie sandwich, or tuna sometimes. But this customized veggie sandwich they made for me today just put me in cloud 9 for the rest of the day. It felt like I was a child again (always been one) and I just got done playing outside, got a little tired and parents made food to munch on, then getting food coma. Yeah it's just veggies and it's not much flavor or whatever blah blah, but it's definitely a light sandwich to enjoy. Well the sandwich in the pictures weighed a pound so i don't know about "light" but it was perfect for hangry me hehehehe! Shoutout savannah for building this ultimate bussin sammich! This one is Not in the menu, but you can go in and ask for a GIANT MUFASA'S VEGGIE SAMMICH. It is a toss up between 3 and 4 stars but friendly staff and excellent home made soups pushed it to a 4 star. I have gone here several times and had a great experience hear each time. I am always greeted by friendly staff who are very helpful in narrowing down some good sandwiches. I thought their sandwiches are good, a little on the small side. First time and was jazzed to have a 'deli' nearby. Pretty disappointing experience though. Ordered a Rueben on Marble Rye. Looks like all the bread choices are the same cut / size of small sandwich bread from the market. You remember how Wonder Bread was sized? There ya go. I'm sure it would have been very tasty if it had the at least the same amount of corned beef as it did sauerkraut but mine was even less on the corned beef. Nowhere near filling / satisfying. Ok so we wanted local goodies after just getting off a plane. We're about to travel for 2.5 hours and didn't want to spend a bunch of money willy-nilly. ENTER OFF BROADWAY! We walk in and they greet us with free samples instantly! Pesto sauce and JoJo's and soup! Then we ask a whole bunch of dumb tourist sandwich questions and they don't even get annoyed, and then we order sandwiches for HALF the price of anything at the airport and OH MAN....... these sandwiches...... are next level. Simple elegance. Deliciously designed. Stairway to heaven style sandwiches. Moral of the story: Go get the food, eat it and then smile. My work is done here. read more

We care" Something that was said to me at the deli today that made me smile, because still after a five month break because we don't live on that side of town anymore, and they still remember us and everything about our lives. That's amazing. The deli has hundreds of people that come in every day and they still manage to remember everyone of their customers and their life stories. This is more than a deli, it's a family. They truly care about their customers. The whole family works there and doesn't really hire anyone else because they're perfectionists when it comes to the quality of their food. I love that. I think I speak for many when I say I want to go to a place that actually gives a **** about the food they're making. Onto their food, it's amazing. Great sandwiches. Great potato wedges. Great potato salad. I always get the hot broad. Their Pesto is homemade and it's addicting. Their cheese and meat is shaved in front of you. The potatoes are deep fried tasting like fried chicken. I've never had potato wedges like this. They're delicious. All of their sandwiches come with a name & story. The whole deli is a story. Any sandwich you get is delicious. Eating at a place like this inspires me to start up my own deli. I knew that when my wife ordered a turkey bacon and avocado sandwich that she was taking a chance. Avocados need to be fresh if served on the sandwich and I knew it was a risky order. I thought that my order of the Italian sandwich would be a win specially seeing that this place was rated 4 1/2 stars. I asked for sourdough rolls for both sandwiches and took them home to go. I realize I should've checked before I walked out the door but I didn't. When I got home I noticed that it was on sliced white bread and that it was some thing that I could easily make it home with the cold cuts I have in my fridge. My wife called me shortly there after since she took her sandwich on the road and informed me that the avocado on her sandwich was black not green. So this is the second time I've been to this deli and I'm not impressed with again maybe I'll start my own deli. In defense of the deli, I realize that it's tough to find people to make sandwich's and maybe it was just the person making my sandwich. Very disappointed. Our 4 sandwich order was completely wrong. Unfortunately it was a to-go order so we could not get our order fixed. The veggie was supposed to be on wheat, the sprouts on it were brown. All sandwiches were overly saturated with mustard and mayo to the point where the bread was soggy and inedible. This place is fantastic. From the moment we walked in, the girl behind the counter was friendly and personable. We let her know it was our first time in and she offered us samples of the fries with pesto sauce as well as both soups of the day 'since it looked so cold outside'. Went here for lunch and and dined in. This place had that hipster feel to it and the food smelt great and tasted even better. I ordered the fat head sandwich which was very spicy and delicious with an order of their seasoned steak fries and a drink all for 11 bucks. The staff was very friendly and the service was quick. I come here for lunch quite a bit. It's a local business, not some chain sandwich place. The women who work here are really great. They're friendly and helpful and just make you feel at home. There are a lot of different sandwiches, daily soups, deli salads fried chicken and for-real jojos. Finally found a sandwich shop in Boise that offers a wide selection of sandwiches and even some off-the-wall combinations! My husband and I stopped in for a quick sandwich on-the-go, we both ended up happy with our selections. I ordered the turkey,bacon avocado and he ordered the porter (mix between an Italian and club sandwich). We also ordered a half pound of their fries which are hand cut in the store. I always ask for some ranch with my fries which they happily included. Their ranch seems to be also made in house, and it much more dill-ey than hidden valley. It was very tasty. I got the fried chicken and fries. First things first, the pesto sauce is a national treasure on the fries. It'd probably be great on everything, but I only tried it on the fries. The chicken thighs were tender and succulent, but the chicken breast was a little overdone. Overall I think the chicken could have used some spice, but that's just a personal preference thing. I had a very bad experience with this place. It's just down the street from where I live so I figured I'd try it. The bread was hard, the mayo was warm, there was very little on the sandwich it self.
