This place is like my house! Velvet Underground was playing through the speakers of the small shop. A woman, kinda hippied up, was working behind the counter. She greeted us but wasn't in our face about us being there (we were also the only patrons). The perfect customer service IMO - don't bug me while I'm contemplating space print tights. I ended up with a purchase of a driftwood wrapped necklace made by a Grand Marais woman. Shop local, friends! If you're in town and checking out the art scene, stop into this hella cool shop and support the small business.

It was a shopping experience that took me back to the old fashioned Ben Franklin I grew up with a mix of modern day boutique. I don't think there are many stores where you can buy craft supplies, children's unique toys, running shoes, maple syrup and Pendleton sweaters and blankets. I will agree with some of the other reviewers and say that the prices are on the high side. Being from the Mid-West I thought all prices in Minnesota were higher. However, I understand much of the areas I was visiting were tourist towns, or remote areas and that alone explains the price increases. Being a small town and a tourist town, the staff was attentive and friendly. They made shopping a fun and pleasant experience. If you're in Grand Marais, you've got to at least walk through this store and be amazed with the variety of merchandise.

Walking up the steps and into the church it was very Inviting. The high blue ceiling gave the place great energy. We sat down in the pews and had a conversation including discussing stations of the cross. We learned that no religious type service has been performed since 1936. Walking to the back of the church we found a font of history with Alta Mcquarter. We learned so much from her about the fire, people settling in Lutsen (White Sky) and about the book. It's impressive the documentation there is of the people trough time. The time it must take her to go through obituaries, cut them out and add to book is a true dedication. We are lucky to have her. I highly recommend a stop. Could have stayed all day in the peaceful pew but really talking with Alta and Gary was the proverbial ice to the sore knee I needed after the Voyageur 5K. Thank you.
