My parents and I were visiting Vienne for the first time and tour group stopped by Octave for lunch. The restaurant's color scheme is mostly black and yellow with wood; it is also well-lit and clean. Servers were all friendly and our three-course meal were delivered to our table on a timely manner. They refilled the sliced baguette and water whenever they noticed an empty bread basket or glass.
First, the appetizer was a sundried tomato scrambled egg with focaccia bread as garnish. The egg was soft and silky in texture, and tasted well-seasoned, not too salty nor bland. Focaccia was very memorable because it was warm and toasty. Second, the main dish consisted of a vegetable quiche, baked tomato, and braised beef drenched in mushroom cream sauce. Everything came together beautifully. The beef was juicy and tender, and the creamy mushroom sauce enhanced the flavor of all items on the plate. Lastly, we had puff pastry pear tart for dessert. I only ate a little bit because I was so full, but it was so good! The puff pastry was flakey on the outside, but warm and soft on the inside. Pear was marinaded with a syrup, but it wasn't ridiculously sweet at all. It was a great dessert to end the meal.
Overall, I was glad I got the chance to dine at Octave. The restaurant is beautiful and so is the food. I ended my day trip to Vienne with a satisfied belly! read more
