I see a lot of folks complaining about pain meds, or tests, and charges like FIT wasn't completely…read morehonest about the fact that you had to pay out of pocket in the first place. I had problems that I KNEW from my own years of research that were hypermobility related from my teenage years after a fibromyalgia diagnosis at like 19/20 years old. I found the fascia institute on my own and knew I wouldn't be able to afford the initial protocol beforehand - flash forward a few years later - I am getting an actual referral from my neurologist after getting recommendations from my primary care doctor, my dermatologist, my physical therapists, from my allergist/ENT, and other specialists that I had been seeing through Medicaid of all things. I knew this was the place I needed to be. Yeah, they don't take Medicaid (yet, maybe?) but they will superbill you for reimbursement. I was able to crowdfund/ask my friends and fellow musicians for help because they also knew something was wrong and literally dozens of other specialists were writing me off and telling me that my nearly 20 year old childhood fibromyalgia diagnosis (from a top Rush teaching hospital in Chicago none the less) was the cause for my issues rather than doing the work ups that FIT did. I already knew I had the MTHFR mutation, I already knew I had other genetic issues. So I KNEW that I was going to a clinic that could make more sense of wtf was going on instead of being told that my previous diagnosis was a be-all, end-all. Shame on y'all for saying they're a scam and keeping people from asking for help. If you are dealing with a complex situation that has been written off for years - do it. And ask them for the records because I have had no problem so far getting diagnosis codes and files when I need them. Maybe some of y'all need to be advocating for yourself with other specialists or learning about why you are coming here in the first place - there are other options out there if you don't feel like this is worth your bag. This isn't a pill mill or a pain clinic. Believe me, I've been to countless doctors and specialists and been poked and prodded and cried myself to sleep before this - for my Medicaid covered doctors to be referring me to the Fascia Institute and Dr. Courseault was not taken lightly. Those specialists kind of knew already that I would have to pay out of pocket but STILL referred me anyway. Multiple specialists - like I said. (Also: I didn't get a single injection and they even asked me what I could afford to pay for the supplements that I VERY MUCH genetically need before helping me figure out why to start with and how to shop around) Moral of the story - the medical field will ALWAYS be a "practice" and it's up to YOU to come at it with your whole chest if you feel like someone isn't listening or has done you wrong. That's the only way you will get "better" and people will be held accountable - Even yourself. Attached is just one of the segments of official diagnoses that I have even trying to prove for nearly 20 years a being told I was just a woman with anxiety.

Dr. J.Coursault is OK at best. He wants this reputation for being a pioneer and innovator and it's…read moreall a sham. Neither he or anyone in his office knows more about EDS than anything you could just read online. It's a very cookie cutter experience. He's just banking on the the fact that there are no other EDS clinics and no competition to contradict his practices uselessness. He doesn't want to spend more than five minutes of his time with you. Just wants to inject needles into you and expect $500 cash in return. Even if he has an appointment with you just to talk to you for a few minutes and do nothing $500! However, the office manager is ridiculous. I needed a letter for a handicap admission to Museum elevators, etc., and while he was still at Tulane, his staff whipped it up free, no problem, but the second he got his own staff and practice the people running it, nickel and dime for everything and are very unprofessional. When I asked to update the letter this time I was charged $100 for a letter when any other doctor would have just filled out a form for free. They still did it incorrectly, it took weeks for them to get around to it, they did not fill out the form, and would not give me my money back. Plus, no apology for their incompetence. I went to my Primary Care and within five minutes she filled out the form for me and apologized that any doctor's office would be so monetized and unprofessional. There are other EDS doctors and other doctors that offer prolotherapy in New Orleans FIT will lie to your face and tell you that they are the only ones. They are not. It seems like they only care about getting a reputation like Instagram influencers to be famous and make money to work on athletes without compassion for everyday people.
