My experiences thus far with Dr. Kass have been pleasant. He is a soft-spoken man who seems…read moreknowledgeable in his field. He's been helping with some foot problems, and we are making progress. We are using a combination of laser treatment, creams, and medication to address some skin problems I've been having for years. I never thought much of it, so I just ignored it. But we are working on that now. His office is a typical doctor's office, though he has one room that looks like a hoarder's room and is a disaster. Still, I don't let that influence my opinion of him as a physician. His front desk staff is a solo, older lady. She appears nice and has always been okay to deal with. At times, I have observed her frazzled and stressed out while trying to get things done. She appears to get overwhelmed at times, and I feel for her. They did forget to set me up with a call that I required once, but other than that, they've honored all their commitments to me. They have some invisible person who handles their billing and financial stuff, and I'm not a fan of this person. I went for another treatment, and while Dr. Kass hid in the back, the nice older lady told me that he wouldn't see me unless I paid the balance that my insurance hadn't yet covered. I explained to her several times that there was an issue with my insurance after changing jobs, but that it was addressed just yesterday and they would be submitting payment not only to them but to every doctor I have seen. The balance was $90, not a ridiculous amount that could make or break either of us. Since I just took care of that yesterday and Aetna assured me all those accounts were going to be paid, I refused to pay because I knew I'd have to go through hell to get that money back. I asked to speak to the billing coordinator to clarify anything unclear. I noticed she was getting frazzled and said, "That's not going to happen." Dr. Kass was hiding in the back, but I knew he was listening; it was pretty funny to me. In any case, I'm not in the business of stressing out or terrorizing older, defenseless ladies, so I told her, "I'm just going to go ahead and leave. At some point soon, you folks will get payment or contact from Aetna, and perhaps at a future date, we can reconvene. But I am not paying money that I know for certain you have coming your way. Also, I know it's not you, and you said that I can't talk to the billing person, so there's no point in dragging this out any further. All I have lost is the time that I spent commuting here, and I'll just take the L on that." Again, I know Kass was listening from the back, and he didn't say anything. Frankly, because of this experience, I've lost respect for the practice, and I'm not sure I'll return. Relationships matter, and he should have respected me enough to come and talk to me instead of hiding. That is soft behavior and I'll probably just find another doctor in the general vicinity and try them out. My issue is almost resolved anyway. I like the guy, truth be told, but frankly, this was kind of messed up in my opinion. So, to be fair, the doctor is good insofar as my present experience. His admin is a nice lady, but she is easily frazzled and can't deal with any outside-the-box situations like mine. I opted to leave as opposed to stressing her out. I would have expected the contact info for the billing person or Dr. Kass to at least hear me out. Neither of these happened, that was disappointing. Finally, and of course, the billing person can kiss my backside on this one.

First of all they've got the hazard boxes right by the entrance and one was open. Second the area was dirty. I went to find parking so my mom went in first to check in. Came in and sat next to her in the lobby, and she asked me to go make the co-payment. WHY DO THEY ONLY ACCEPT CASH?? What sort of shadiness is this est engaged in? I went to the desk, hi, who do I make a payment to? The female on the left just stares at me blankly chewing. I look at the one on the right who finally is like, do you have an appointment? I didn't say anything but I'm like, we are literally seated ten feet in front of your face, did you not see I'm talking to my mom? Anyway so I'm like I'm making a payment on her behalf. She silently takes the money and writes a receipt. Meanwhile the one on the left just keeps staring at me while eating with cream cheese on her chin. Then my mom (she came for a colonoscopy) asks whether there is a bathroom inside the procedure area or she has to use the public one in the lobby. Again a blank stare from the woman on the left. The one on the right then says yes you have to use this one. You're telling me, in a BUSY location, they have ONE bathroom that EVERYONE has to use including patients that obviously if you know anything about colonoscopies, will have to use the bathroom. Added to that there is literally NO sound proofing so whatever you do in there people will hear (heard explosions from like three patients while waiting). Btw finally heard the female on the left speak, it was to YELL at an older man who was hard of hearing and possibly with ESL, WHAT IS YOUR NAMMME!!! Look we all have bad days, but the stank attitude is unnecessary, especially in healthcare. People are worried abt their health and now have to deal with this? Then they say no phones, but the TV isn't on either. Am I supposed to sit here and meditate? Meanwhile Spanish music is playing loudly. Now I'm Latina and love my music, but please, 8am in the morning while trying to comfort my mom? I wish I could give this place zero stars…read more Went to Dr. Castro for a check up today after my accident. I was hit by a car while riding my bike. I had one appointment with Dr. Castro where he mentioned the word surgery twice THEN sent me for MRI's of my shoulder....we don't even know what's wrong why would you even mention surgery? Luckily I have common sense combined with anatomy training so I knew better than to pay this any mind. He said he would call me if there was anything major (like a tear). Otherwise I could rest up and we would go over the results at my next visit. Fast forward two weeks. I Was expecting nothing abnormal since he said he would call if I had any tearing. He had two weeks to get the MRI images from the place that did my MRI and review them. I have them on a CD at home but thought "why would I need to bring them with me? This is a professional" I was very wrong. He didn't even HAVE the images on hand never mind having looked them over. He had two weeks to get them and to do his job. I was told by a nurse that Dr. Castro "doesn't need images because he can read from the report" oh, you mean a piece of paper that anyone could read? Ok. Thank you. I was then told that I "Probably maybe have a less than 50% tear in my rotator cuff-but it might just be inflammation." He "wasn't sure" The reason why he couldn't tell? Because he didn't have the images. That he had two weeks to obtain. He also explained nothing to me. When I asked him which muscle tendon had the tear he said "rotator cuff" yea buddy there's 4 different muscles in the rotator cuff. THEN he told me he thinks that I should "go on medication, do physical therapy if I want and then if that didn't work, get an injection in my shoulder in three weeks" Sigh. So. Many. Issues. With. This. 1. "Probably maybe" isn't an acceptable answer. 2. Less than 50% tear. First of all, it's degrees, not % and secondly what does that mean? Is it a 3 degree tear or is it a 49 degree tear. Distinct difference. Experts know the difference. 3. YOU HAD TWO WEEKS TO OBTAIN THE IMAGES AND YOU WASTED MY TIME. 4. I told this man repeatedly that medication, surgery, injections-anything invasive was absolutely not happening. The fact that he kept trying to push it is absurd. 5. Why wouldn't he CALL me as he PROMISED and let me know that my rotator cuff tendon may be torn. so I don't further Injure myself. So I could make appropriate steps to take care of myself. I've been walking around with a tear for 3 weeks? Are you kidding me? Just came from my new doctor (Dr. Neuman-he's wonderful and explained everything) and as I suspected, I do have a tear and guess what this is a big deal and will take time, patience and proper rehab to get better. He advised me on physical therapy and proper rehab. Oh, castros office also gave me the run around on obtaining my medical records. Dr. Castro wasted my time. I'm a massage therapist. Time is essential in the healing process. It's also essential for me to go back to work as an independent contractor. But by far my BIGGEST issue is the patients out there who don't have any formal training in anatomy that just "trust the doctor". These are the people who are being drugged up, injected and cut open unnecessarily by people like Dr. Castro. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this guy as well as educate yourself and listen to your gut. It's your body and you only get one.

It's been a year since my injury and I still haven't fully recovered; which I think has both the insurance company and myself very frustrated. Even after almost a year of physical therapy I can't really run or jump, and I can only walk normally after I've taken a couple of very painful "warm up" steps. Each following step still causing minor pain. In his report, Dr. Toriello stated that I had no pain, full range of motion (which I don't), and that I could walk normally, and therefore needed no further treatment. Walking painfully might be normal for someone in their 80s, but I'm in my 30s. I was easily running 5 miles, dancing, skydiving, and learning parkour before my injury. That's pretty much gone now, and I've had to quit two jobs because I can't stand on my feet for more than three hours without feeling so much pain that I limp for the rest of the day. I don't know what he's like with his normal patients, but he lied in order to stay in business with the insurance company. Now my recovery is in jeopardy. His whole examination took about 5 minutes, and he either omited or flat out lied about what I told him. I wouldn't trust him, and neither should you.
