As a former employee of this particular facility, I will advise anyone that has to send their family here to make sure you check on them daily. Not only have I worked here but I also had to send a family member here not by choice but this is where the court system took my family member. His first night there he asked for is patient code over five times in a span of 10 minutes but was continuesly told to hold on as we were trying to get it before his phone time expired which supposed to be 10 minutes per patient call. Another family member brought personal items including clothes the same night he was admitted around beginning of September and around mid September he did not receive those items nor given a change of clothes during his stay. So my questions is for this to be a place to help those with mentally health issues get better promoting good hygiene should be a topic of improvement. If a person takes care of themselves with hygiene it helps the feel better mentally. My family member and I contacted the DON regarding the clothes, he first tries to send us back to the nurse that told us she didn't know that the patient had clothes brought to him and had not seen them keep in mind it has be 10 plus days since my family member became a patient due to them being off medication and not in a stable mindset. As my family get better they are able to converse everything that has taken place during the stay at this facility including having to plunge a clogged toilet, why would anyone give a plunger to a mental unstable person on a secure ward, what if someone got it and used it as a weapon or to harm themselves? There is much more to say but I do not feel the need to continue as one can get the picture as to why this facility needs to be investigated for neglect of patient care, safety of the patients and staff, ect. These are concerns that ultimately help me to decide to seek employment elsewhere. There are a few truly caring staff members working there but majority are there for a pay check. read more
