Before I start, I want to make clear that I wrote this review on my own accord. I did not write this review for any personal gains, nor am I biased or affiliated with this clinic in any way. Just like all my other reviews, this one is objective and reliable, with no conflict of interest, and I'm telling it the way it is. The main reason I am writing this review is to inform the public what I have experienced and observed (as a pre-med student who has been shadowing Julietta and Ivan for about 4 months) at Ocean Therapy Center (OTC). This clinic specializes in neurological and orthopedic conditions (including chronic pain) for individuals of all ages. The therapists at this clinic are experienced and knowledgeable in what they are doing. They do not put a band-aid on the problem, but instead go to the root and attempt to solve it. There are very few places that can do what the therapists at OTC can do. This fact is supported by the evidence of the wide range of international patients who come to this clinic to be treated and the number of referrals this clinic gets from their former patients. At this center, patients get one-on-one personal care/attention with the therapists. Unlike other clinics, OTC is patient-happiness driven. The staff truly do care and want the patient to make progress and improve their quality of life. The therapists use a variety of techniques and equipments (Therasuit, MEDEK, Universal Cage Therapy, Quantum Reflex Integration, Craniosacral Therapy, VOILA Method, Redcord Suspension, Deep Tissue Laser Therapy, Microcurrent Point Stimulation, and essential oils) in addition to the basic physical therapy foundational knowledge/concepts. I can personally testify that I have seen patients initially come in for pain (whether it is a newly submerged pain or it has been there for a while) and walk out pain free. With the various techniques and equipments used at OTC, patients are leaving this clinic in a better state than they initially were in when they started their treatments (orthopedic and neurological patients alike). As a child, I was really into extreme sports, so some past injuries are catching up with me. I am really happy to know that I have a place to go when something hurts. I've been here 4+ times for treatments in my left wrist and right hip area. The pain in these locations has been present for years but after just 2 treatments the pain was gone and they even taught me ways to keep the pain from coming back. Ivan was very gentle and really knows how to uncover the underlying issue of pain you are experiencing. He was able to pinpoint the cause of my pain in my left wrist and right hip area and I am happy to say the pain is gone! I highly recommend Ocean Therapy Center! read more

I simply cannot say enough wonderful things about Ocean Therapy. My experience here is directly connected to the incredible Julietta, a therapist, and Mary, who works in the office. I sincerely love them both, and I do not use the word "love" lightly ever! I have actually been coming here for help for approximately 7 years now. Being that I am a half and half, (meaning that I live here half a year and half a year in NYC) that makes my experience here more intermittent but I have nonetheless spent serious time here over the years and gotten some real help from Julietta. I think it was two years ago that I came here thinking I had a serious back problem that reared its ugly head while I was standing in the tub. That happened in NYC and I sought help from a local physical therapist there who told me I had Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, a rare condition which I knew I did not have. To make a long story short, after arriving in Florida and coming to see Julietta, I learned my hip was dislocated and she taught me how to gently force it back into place doing a simple exercise. Within a week it was all over. It certainly helps to know what the problem is before it can be properly addressed. And this is simply one of many ways that Julietta has helped both me and my Mom who started seeing Julietta herself after I could not stop ranting and raving about how wonderful she is and how much she has helped me improve my overall health and well being. What more can you want from a health care provider? But there is more! Julietta has helped connect me to a another very important healthcare provider in my life who dramatically helps me with my tick borne illnesses such as the Epstein-Barr virus and Lyme disease, etc. In addition, I learned about the Richway Biomat from Julietta as well as some other helpful products that I now use in my home. Last, but not least, both Julietta and Mary are also such delightful souls that I always feel better in more than one way just from being in their presence and spending time with them. I always take advantage (when possible) when both my Mom and I have appointments of talking to Mary while waiting my turn. I enjoy our chats so much I almost forget the point of my visits. This is a rare and highly pleasant experience for me. Wonderful people are hard to find, but there are at least two of them here. read more

I have used Ocean Thearapy twice to complete my recovery from a total knee replacement and just recently after the placement of a device to drain fluid into my elimination system. Each time I was totally satisfied and back to normal soon using their physical therapy procedures. After I finished the last prescribed round of physical therapy, I was packing books and ended up with a back sprain. I called Ocean Therapy to ask for advice on how to relieve the extreme pain. I was told to have my doctor send them a prescription and make an appointment. When I explained I was a 1000 miles away, I was signed up for a real time video class. Already after the class, my pain has decreased. I am sure that if I is the recommended after class instructions, I will be pain free soon. read more

I had an ugly bruise under my eye and a wedding to attend two days later. I went to Ivan and he treated the bruise with two different treatments (MPS Micro-current Point Stimulation and Deep Tissue Laser). Neither was painful (although the names sound scary!) and the bruise disappeared the next day. He also gave me some strips to take home with me and apply to my bruise. Was referred for bursitis in my shoulders. The staff were very welcoming. Sound techniques, but most of all the practitioners are healers.

Ocean therapy is the premiere physical therapy experience in Fort Lauderdale! Being a chiropractor it is difficult to pick a physical therapist. Even before becoming a physician I had several bad experiences with physical therapy. I felt like one of the crowd they would just strap me to machines that did nothing and wouldn't treat me as an individual. That all changed when I met Julietta and Ivan. They are so committed to getting to the root cause of your issues their philosophy if health healing and wellbeing so they really prepare you for the stress of daily life. I chose this physical therapists because she was one of the few physical therapists in my area with an A review on another site. I have had several experiences with physical therapy for back problems, right shoulder surgery, and core strengthening. I am also a physician, which both helps me appreciate this therapist's excellent knowledge of anatomy but also might affect my feelings regarding her techniques. Julietta relies on techniques such as deep massage of the affected area with essential oils (eucalyptus oil, in my case), cold laser therapy, and direct current stimulation of accupressure points. She has many years of experience. There was relatively little of what I've experienced as traditional physical therapy: exercises in the office and at home to stretch, strengthen, and relax the affected muscles and tendons. After five visits, my shoulder was sore all the time, perhaps from the lengthy deep tissue massage of the tightest and most contracted muscles and tendons in my shoulder. My ability to perform routine tasks at home with my left arm and shoulder had not improved significantly, but my shoulder ached constantly. I canceled all future visits and looked for another therapist. read more

On the second day my 10 yo daughter in the gymnastic camp, I got a call from the camp director that she fell from a bar and that she hurt her right arm!! I was ready to take her to the ER but My daughter maturely told me, "Haven't you hurt yourself when you were a kid? Let's wait a day and see if I feel better!" The day later she didn't feel any better! I saw her avoiding to use her right arm from eating, writing, or doing anything! So I placed a call to Ocean Therapy Clinic and was able to be seen immediately!! Thanks Julietta Wenzel and Ivan Cusin for their TLC. CeCe left the clinic feeling much better and she was able to do her own hair and dress herself this morning!! You guys rock!! What I like about Ocean Therapy Center? They carefully listen, not just the patients' self-reports on incidents or complaints, but they observe and pay close attention to physiological and somatic responses that sometimes even adults have problems articulating not to mention a 10yo child!! They diagnose carefully and address issues precisely!! Their holistic approach to healthcare aligns closely to what I believe healthcare should be and the most important of all is that progresses are made and pain are alleviated quickly!! I'm not quite sure what I expected when I walked through the front door, but from that moment on, any preconceived ideas or notions were blown away! If not for the giant metal cages, one might even think they were in a spa! Very tranquil and serene! I had recently undergone spinal fusion, and after 2 months of basically doing nothing, I was more than eager to get the healing process started! What an amazing facility! And, even more amazing therapists! Mary, the office manager (Quite amazing herself), has assembled a wonderful staff! Unlike other facilities (Holy Cross Hospital), here you will be treated as an individual. Each therapy session is one on one and with the same therapist every time. I was first given a comprehensive evaluation. It was explained to me that although I was recovering from spinal fusion, my entire body would be treated. I have experienced treatment on my scar tissue, the use of essential oils, and laser therapy as well as variations on acupuncture techniques. This, in combination with very traditional weights, pulleys, tension bands. After little more than 3 weeks I feel like a new person. I have suffered from scoliosis my entire life and my therapist Laine has me almost aligned for the first time in my life! My neck and shoulders feel great and I feel my range of motion, returning rapidly. I am so grateful to have discovered this hidden gem! The reason why I chose Ocean Therapy was because they were so conveniently close to me. What a great decision it was! I owe my quick recovery to their physical therapists. The PT's therapeutic sessions can include the latest in modern medicine or the most alternative in holistic medicine. Not only are they responsible for getting me back on my feet without the need of horrible & cumbersome looking black walking boot, but they are also focused on the scar.
