Overall the massage itself was good, but the tipping situation at the end made me uncomfortable. My service was $75 and I offered $5 extra, but I was told there is a minimum 20% tip. A tipping minimum should not be required. It felt pressured rather than optional. Of course I still tipped more because I didn't want to seem rude, but it affected the overall experience. As soon as I walked in, I was pressured into an upsell--they pushed a more expensive option right away, claiming it would include a full-body massage. Not only did they not deliver the full massage I was promised, but at the end I was also pressured to tip, as if it was required. Grace is an excellent masseuse! The studio is very clean and quiet despite being located on a busy main street. Parking can be a bit difficult but I've had good success so far finding parking on nearby side streets or even a block away near the grocery store across the street. Grace is exceptionally kind and skilled. She is very thorough and welcoming, and has been able to manipulate muscles in my body that are under repeated strain because of the physical demands of my work, giving me much needed relief from pain. Grace has been able to get me appointments the same day, even with only a few hours notice, which is a big advantage for people like me with demanding schedules that can change at a moment's notice. It's also very useful that they are open on weekends and fairly easy to get a weekend appointment on short notice as well. The atmosphere is very calming, with low light, wonderful essential oils scent everywhere, quiet, and soothing low volume Chinese music. I have never had such a fantastic deep tissue massage! Grace is absolutely gifted at Thai massage. She has kneeled on me, walked on me (the bars for REAL Thai massage are on the ceiling) this is authentic real deal Thai massage and to do this kind of massage as well as Grace, you have to be world class. She most certainly is! She is my go to and I have lived in La Jolla for 40 years and had a ridiculous amount of massages. I have never had a massage as good as Graces.
