Wicormarine is a true sailor`s boatyard, within easy reach of the M27 with plenty of parking it is…read morein an almost rural setting for portsmouth harbour with abunndant birdlife. The harbour entrance is 30 mins away by water, time to sort out sails and warps. There is ready access to the solent with a wide choice of destinations or scope for sailing within the harbour. There may not be a fancy restaurant or shop selling designer clothes but there is a snug where you can make coffee on cold days and a chandlery stocking all the paints, ropes, fixatives you need for day to day maintainence. For things you can`t do yourself there is a sailmaker, fabricator, shipwright and painter on site and the yard can help with many repairs. There are lockers and racks to stow outboards and dinghies and a dinghy channel giving access to the moorings and pontoons. This is a family run yard where the staff are often about checking on the boats in bad weather and deal efficently with lift in and out using a state of the art submersible remote controlled lauching trolley. It is not a ginn palace parking lot but a mecca for the enthusiast of the more classic yacht with plenty of boats undergoing restoration to add interest. Portsmouth harbour is always full of interest with a mixture of warships, cargo ships, fishing boats, ferries and all sizes of yachts, efficently controlled by the Queens Harbour Master: if you have difficulty parking your boat, go out midweek and see how the navy move aircraft carriers in tight spaces! Along with many owners, we have been at the yard for many years so they must be doing something right, come and see for yourself!

Situated in Fareham lake, we are extremely fortunate in our location which offers fine views over the harbour, much wildlife and considerable peace on the moorings. We are away from the noise and bustle, but enjoy easy access to Junction 11 of the M27. Only a couple of miles away, the harbour entrance is half an hour from the moorings on a good day and the sail downstream is perfect for shaking-down and preparing for the Solent. Our moorings and slipway equipment are checked regularly enabling you to leave your vessel without worry. We continually strive to keep the moorings peaceful and the yard clean, tidy and efficient. We invite you to visit and acquaint yourself more fully with the atmosphere and facilities we have to offer.

Premier Chichester Marina - Entrance to Chichester Marina from Chichester Harbour

    Premier Chichester Marina

Chichester Marina is the UK's second largest marina, located at the end of the old Chichester…read moreCanal, and opening out onto Chichester Harbour. It provides berths for over 900 boats and is the largest marina on the South Coast. History The huge natural Chichester Harbour provides some 17 miles of pretty and sheltered channels to explore, and so has always been a popular location for sailing. Boats had begun to moor at the end of the Chichester Canal since the 1920s, when it became disused, and also at nearby Birdham Pool. As sailing grew further in popularity, a large, purpose-built marina was built adjacent to the end of the canal, with its own lock entry gates. This was excavated in the 1960s from the marshy remains of the Apuldram Salterns, a salt works which had been in operation from around 1730 until the 1820s. Facilities As you would expect from so large a marina, the facilities are plentiful: there are modern shower and toilet blocks, a launderette, state-of-the-art lock control headquarters and marina reception, alongside hi-tech security, 24-hour staffing, two bar/restaurants, wi-fi access across the marina and a range of associated boat yards and chandlery suppliers for boat owners. There is also a small provisions shop open during the summer, although the main supermarkets are avialable in Chichester, 10 minutes' drive away. It has been awarded Five Gold Anchors - the highest award - by the Yacht Harbour Association. Practicalities The Marina is accessed from the A286 Birdham Road, between Birdham and Chichester and clearly signposted. There is plenty of free parking at the marina. Details of berthings available and rates can be found on the website: day berths are available as well as longer-term and seasonal berths, and dry berths. Some berths (mainly for houseboats) are also available on the lower reaches of the Chichester Canal.
