I have been a customer since 2020 so about 2 years of patronage here and over a dozen visits. I have been here during the peak of the pandemic when lines were out the door to when I stop by in an off hour and it's just me and the employees. Simply put, everyone from the owner to the two brothers (Matt and his brother who's name escapes me) and the "other" Matt who is their gunsmith are all genuinely kind people who have ALWAYS GONE ABOVE AND BEYOND for me and their other customers. I needed a parts kit assembled before a camping trip. I got the parts to finish the build on a Wednesday afternoon and they got it done for me for under 50.00 and in time for my camping trip. Other shops quoted me 2-4 weeks for this simple build. Even though I don't live in OC anymore I still make the journey from LA county to give them my business. Selection is also great but every single employee makes this store memorable due to their great personalities, knowledge, and willingness to go above and beyond for their patrons. 6 out of 5 stars from me. read more

Needed some sights put on a couple of guns that were pretty tricky and above my abilities, and they did a good job while I waited, and for a good price, especially considering how hard the job was. Some gunsmiths want you to drop off your guns and wait two weeks. It was so nice to have it done while I was there, especially since I don't live in Costa Mesa. Everyone was friendly and helpful, including the owner. They even have a ferocious guard dog (actually, it's a sweet little wiener dog). I bought 5 firearms in June one was a used Sig Sauer AR15 and the firing pin didn't fire. It's a $2200 expense for a non working item. I asked for a refund but so far OC Outdoor staff hasn't called me back after telling me they will talk to the owner Steve. I emailed Steve and still no response for about a month. I paid $2200 for a used AR that doesn't work. They looked at it and told me to take it to the range again without do anything to it. I already told them I was at the range and that the experts there tried to make the rifle work but it doesn't work. I call and no one answered. I will have to drive an hour again just to communicate with them. read more

Just purchased a Glock 26 from these guys and the process was very easy. I had to renew my permit and was able to do it in-store. The gentleman who helped me was super helpful. Purchased the gun without any issues and was able to pick it up within 10days. I was hoping they would have a better selection but I understand that everything is backed up with the current situation. I would definitely recommend this place. Went in just trying to get help re assembling my 1911 style pistol. Pitiful I know. But hey, it was my first 1911 style pistol and I was struggling for some reason. Came in, even with a few customers already around Matt came around and helped out right away, told me not to worry, and showed me how to put it back together. Keep in mind, I did not buy this firearm there, but both Matt and Steve still helped out. (Big reason why going forward, I will make my first attempts at purchasing a desired firearm at OC firearms, aside from the fact that they seem to carry some of the harder to find items in the area- check their inventory and you'll understand) Expecting them to charge me for the assistance, I asked how much that would be and they told me not to worry about it. Such awesome service and did not make me feel like an idiot about being unable to put a slide stop back in. (I have figured it out now by the way) Before leaving I did pick up a box of .45 just to show some appreciation for the help. I then inquired about their custom AR's they had on the wall .. Next thing I know I'm purchasing my first AR. Matt and Steve were both really helpful with that purchase, no pressure, and just happy to answer any questions.. Kristen was awesome helping with the paperwork .. which reminds me, when we were finishing up the required paperwork, Steve and Kristen noticed my un laminated/unprotected FSC. Steve explained what an unnecessary pain it would be to have it replaced while actually laminating it for me. Again, such awesome service. Another shop did not do that for the older HSC nor did another shop do that for the newer FSC when they issued it. 2 examples of 2 other shops, not going that extra mile while actually charging me for it. This place is just a really friendly, customer service centered shop that just happens to carry really awesome, typically hard to find and competitively priced firearms. This place is outstanding. Everyone here is incredibly friendly and knowledgable.. No snobby crap you see at other smiths/ gun shops. That alone is a huge reason to come back. I came in for the simple job of having my night sights installed on my glock. They looked busy, but regardless, Don headed up and I handed him my sights and my pistol. He simply said "be right back" and 15 minutes later he came out with my new trijicon sights on, loctite'd and ready to rock. I will return here with all my firearm needs that can be handled at a smith/ retailer. Friendly, professional, and fast turnaround time. Also, I didn't do much shopping there, but they do have some good stuff for sale... A healthy array of ar parts, pistols (glock, sigs, smiths... I purchased a savage a22 rifle recently and they were great. While there stock was limited, they were nice and knowledgeable. I can see myself using them as my go to store in the future. It was tough to get through by phone but I don't really hold that against them right now because everything is crazy everywhere. Absolute #1 go to store for purchases / deals. Everyone there is knowledgeable and solid! Best line of Kimbers anywhere. If they don't have something they'll order it for you. And talk about the consignments WOW! Sometimes you get lucky as hell! They'll also pin mags or whatever stupid stuff necessary for CA compliance and at a VERY reasonable price. Came into the shop on Sat afternoon to get my handgun for home defense. After looking over some models, bought a Glock 17. Took a Safety test, passed. Paid the cash, now waiting to pick up my Glock since Cali law is 10 days period. Staffs were friendly, not pushy to sell me a gun.
