We'd gone to 3 other stores and found some great pieces, however none of them accepted credit cards, and we were short on Euro cash. We walked to Sophie Dupont Antiques toward the end of our search, hoping the store was still open and accepted credit cards. We got lucky! Upon entering the store, we were greeted by a lovely little black cat/chat noir, then by a very sweet lady who spoke as much English as I did French :) No issue communicating whatsoever - she was patient with my French. She let us know that the store was ours to browse. The store had an abundance of the types of QUALITY vintage pieces we were looking for, all at very fair prices. We were on the hunt for a beautiful French carafe or vase, of which there were plenty to choose from. We spent about 45 minutes browsing the many antique pieces and chatting with Sophie in between. It was great practice for my French. If you're a tourist on the search for a unique souvenir to bring home, Sophie Dupont Antiques is your place. It's worth going out of your way for - you're supporting a great business. The lovely lady and her 2 black cats/deux chats noir, Jazz and Alpha, helped make our visit to this store extra memorable. Sophie Dupont Antiques also accepts credit card, which is a huge plus for us since we had spent most of our Euro cash. We came home with a beautiful mini cream pourer and vase that I can't wait to put on display at home. It will bring back very fond memories of beautiful Paris, and spark joy when I look at it. Paris, je t'aime.

Super interesting antique shopping…read more Located just at the north edge of Paris in Saint-Ouen, this area is one of many market areas. This was probably the nicest of all- large covered areas, clean, smooth walkways, clean restrooms and a couple of cafes. Most stores here are selling high end antique furniture. Beautiful pieces, many look new. Other shops carried vintage high fashion that would make a girl cry. Then there were the shops that sold the small antique household items. On the weekend around the backside, locals set up small tables and create their own flea market area. Be warned, prices inside and still seem very high. But the furnishings were absolutely gorgeous. Worth spending a couple of hours to experience a different part of Paris.

The wide variety of tempting treasures from true antiques to the rarest of finds to vintage items and lots of old French style. My only issue is if you're not comfortable and able to converse in the French language, you're going to have some difficulties shopping here. Prices are high, yet you're supposed to bargain. I personally don't know how to communicate much in a language I don't know, so I spent most of my time as a touring lookie lou. I suppose that's fine, but I would have liked to consider purchasing some things, but couldn't, except for at the booths where English was spoken.
