don't expect the police in Oberlin to back up the ADA laws on service dogs being allowed in a public place of business. if an owner claims that no service dogs are allowed because it is their private owned business, then it should be posted as a private place of business and not open to the public. the ADA states that service dogs are allowed to enter with their owner, any place of business which is open to the public. the police in Oberlin will not enforce that law. I have balance problems and extreme pain when standing and walking which is why I have a service dog. without him, I run the risk of falling . the other issue for having this dog is that I have no peripheral vision in the left eye as well as two blind spots. therefore, my service dog is very much needed and cannot be left outside a place of business while I go inside. would the owner rather I fall or bump into things knocking stuff over ? read more
