To be honest, until november last year I had never visited this place, I heard of it from my husband & a few of his friends who are foreigners. We love we can find books, movies, magazines, DVD's & other materials in English. We also attended a Permaculture meeting that is held once a month, it was so interesting and the people attending the meeting know a lot about permaculture and even organize field trips. There's not only the permaculture meetings, they constanly have different presentations and most of them are in someway related to Oaxaca, history, culture, etc. There's even a flea market! the next one will be february 15th so if you want to sell your stuff or buy something you know where to go, call ahead for other dates. If you're a foreigner looking to meet other foreigners, or a local looking to meet some foreigners, stop by anytime, it's always interesting meeting new people! read more

English-speaking (and Spanish-challenged) visitors must visit this place, as it goes well beyond library services. Nancy was at the front desk today and she helped me find some options for Spanish immersion schools in Oaxaca City. There is a large bulletin board area with all kinds of information on current (this week) activities, events, places to visit, tour groups and etc. This is a great resource center.
