Seriously - this place is where it is at! My friend Derek T. found Oasis while researching for our epic Camper Van road trip throughout the South Island this past June. When I saw the price, amenities, and location - I was 100% in and wasted no time booking this place. I mean, I thought we were just going to catch some zzzs but boy was I wrong - Oasis offers so much more than just a place to sleep! Just opening in February of this year, Oasis offers six different yurts and a couple of cabins/sheds. We stayed in the Mankua yurt which has a queen bed and a King-Single over Queen Bed bunk. I slept on the bottom bunk and the bunkbed as a whole was incredibly sturdy, I didn't feel the person sleeping above me move once! The yurt was beautiful and had power, lighting, a wood burning stove, full linen, and even towels! There was even a hairdryer in our room and a portable space heater to use if we didn't want to make a fire in the wood burning stove. All of this shocked me but wait, there's more! The bathhouse is GORGEOUS. I truly felt like I was at a spa. There is a heater in the bathroom which was quite nice in addition to great shampoo and conditioner. This is one of the times I did not mind leaving the comforts of my "hotel room" to use the bathroom. I took a shower at night, and in the morning - it was that fabulous! Moving on, another highlight is the common space/kitchen area that truly deserves to be featured in a magazine. The kitchen is beautiful, simply beautiful. So nice. The gentleman who checked us in and gave us a brief tour (I'm assuming it was Rusty), designed much of the place and built much of the stuff as well - including the beautiful tables. I wish I could put into words how lovely this place is! Some of the other features that I loved were the little herb garden, the games available to play in the kitchen area, and the magnificence of the land. It's in a great location, too. I will have to upload my photos as pictures speak 1,000 words ;) I would come back to New Zealand just to stay at Oasis Yurts again. We honestly considered staying in Wanaka another night but alas, the yurts were booked solid the following night. This place is a gem! read more

I booked this for a friend and myself - she was only staying 1 night with me here before leaving for home (the US) but I had 2 nights here. Since I booked it, she had not done much research on it prior to arriving and she was stunned with the place! She would not stop remarking about how beautiful it was. And she was right! It was easy to find and there were nearly no other driveways/businesses around. Libby - in the front office - was so nice and shared a map of Wanaka and her restaurant recommendations before giving us a tour of the property. The weather was perfect so, I'm sure that helped with how in awe we were :P The lawn with tables looks out on trees and a blue sky and it was just gorgeous. There are small walls setup between the yurts to help provide some noise-blocking / privacy. The shared kitchen is HUGE with 2 very long tables, 2 refrigerators, 2 sinks, 2 of everything to help accommodate many people. Coffee, tea, sugar, milk are all provided! There are 2 separate bathrooms - each with 2 toilets, 1 shower, 3 sinks. There is 1 washer and dryer which cost a bit more $ than other places but they are high end and they offered soap for free. We had the single queen bed yurt and it had 2 comfy chairs + small table, rod for hanging clothes, heater + cooler Dyson fan, fireplace, 2 night stands, and outlets. The windows are easily opened from the outside (rolling up the plastic cover), and the top of the yurt can also be easily pulled off from the outside to let in sun / breeze. You COULD walk to the town by Lake Wanaka but I don't recommend it as it would be along some busy roads and it is really easy to drive / park there. Despite the other yurts being full, I was able to sleep just fine - there is an emphasis on nighttime etiquette which I appreciated, so there was nearly NO noise late at night. I hiked Roy's Peak after my first night, and was able to make my own iced tea in the kitchen and enjoy it at their outdoor table by myself in peace... it was amazing! Even though I've been here already, I would DEFINITELY stay here again. I just loved it so much... I highly recommend it. read more

We loved this place! We only stayed one night but wish we could have stayed longer. It was clean and SO comfortable. They've got this full kitchen that you can use too in the main room, and it made us wish we had planned to cook. The owner, Rusty, gave us a tour of the place on check-in, and gave us tons of recommendations on things to do and see. read more

!!!!! HORRIBLE !!!!! HORRIBLE !!!!! HORRIBLE !!!!! I had the unfortunate experience to book one night at this location thinking it is something special. What a mistake. I have been traveling through New Zealand for about a month and never encountered such unprofessional and rude people as the owners of this joint. After driving a whole day more than 500 km in pouring rain and slippery roads with small children and no cell phone service for hours, I arrived at this location that is not even in the right place on the map. I had to drive about another 5 minutes up and down on the road to figure out where it is since there is only a light bulb and a small wood board scribbled ... oasis. Upon my arrival I was informed that I was late one hour for my check-in, instead of 8PM I had the audacity to arrive at 9 PM, my reservation that I paid months in advance more than $300 for one night was canceled and I have to find accommodation somewhere else. And on top of that I had my credit card charged another $35 at exactly 8:01PM for being late. How ridiculous it that? In my 25 years of travel through the civilized world I never heard of being charged a fee or have a PAID reservation canceled for arriving at 9PM instead of 8PM. There are times in life that things are not under my control, especially when I travel with small children, in a foreign country, in bad weather, on the opposite side of the road that I am used to and no cellphone reception for hours. So instead of getting any understanding for those circumstances, the owners of this joint refused to honor our paid reservation. I left the place very dissapointed and I felt compelled to let other travelers know of my own experience. read more
