I have been away from church for some time now, but after really talking with my wife, we decided…read moreit would be a good idea to find a place for our family. We had also just moved to Rowlett, and didn't know people in the area. So we decided to "Yelp" it, and would you believe it, we found Catalyst. I will say the first time there I felt something completely different then I had ever felt. This place was meant for me. We then returned the next week, to my surprise, the members remembered our names. My 7-year-old was so surprised by that, we just knew that we had found something special. I promise, if you are lost, been away from the church, or even had really bad feelings about church, this IS the place for you. Come try and see what you think. I have now found a home.

I think picking a church is a little like falling in love. It's different for every person, and…read moredifferent things resonate with different people. Personally, I don't think that the pastor or anyone in the church is trying to be "too cool" or "rockin'" - the reason I go is because I think it's the first church experience that's actually been genuine. I don't attend because I'm trying to be all hipster with God; I go because I'm okay listening and talking and not being judged. I attend Catalyst, and have for over a year... and I'm not yet comfortable calling myself a Christian... AND THAT'S OKAY AT CATALYST. How many churches can you go to where they aren't going to judge you or try and change you? I have never stuck with any church in the few instances where I've tried it because of all the pressure to be someone I'm not. I walk in the door, and it's okay to be me. It's okay to learn at my own pace, and I'm still welcomed and loved. Isn't that really what it's all about?

New Generation Holiness Church of God

New Generation Holiness Church of God

I am extremely disappointed with New Generation Holiness Church in Garland, Texas…read more My grandmother dedicated over 30 years of her life to this church. She served faithfully, gave her time, her energy, her love, and often sacrificed when she had very little herself. Through all those years, she remained loyal and committed to the church and its mission. What hurts me the most is seeing her treated unfairly simply because she wanted to participate in a community choir and share the gift that God blessed her with. My grandmother has a beautiful voice, and there is nothing wrong with wanting to use that gift to inspire people beyond the church walls. Following a dream and sharing a God-given talent should be encouraged, not punished. For a church that says "come as you are," I have witnessed an environment that feels judgmental and unwelcoming at times. Instead of celebrating someone's gifts and accomplishments, it feels like people are criticized for pursuing opportunities outside the church. After seeing how my grandmother has been treated despite her decades of dedication, I am deeply saddened and disappointed. No one who has given so much of themselves to a church should feel stripped of their value or made to feel less because they chose to pursue a positive opportunity. I wish my grandmother nothing but success and happiness. Her voice is a blessing, and no one can take away the gift God gave her. If I could give zero stars, I would.

We joined because of all the programs they offer to children and professionals. I highly recommend this church to any family in the surround area that is wanting a church to call home.

The ministry staff are all educated, loving and caring of each parishioner. Dr. Dan Jones has been Senior Minister at FCCG for 18+ yrs. His sermons are uplifting and inspirational to the congregation. I always leave with a life message to help grow stronger in my faith. The music is led by a musical educator who is well known in the music industry. The Chancel Choir is excellent. There are multiple Sunday School classes to choose from. I have especially enjoyed the Disciple Womens group which offers a chance once a month to fellowship with other Christian women. Easter, Christmas and other holidays are met with activities, learning and a special time of worship and prayer. I only wish that I had found this place of worship years and years ago. My relationship with Christ has grown in this environment. I am a happier person today because of the growth I have experienced in my faith; and the Agape love of my church family.
