My relationship with Oakley has been like that of a couple on Maury Povich. Yes I've been loyal to a fault with them and their products for decades, but there have been runs where they did me dirty like sleeping with my best friend. Not actually, but figuratively. I love the HQ with the dirt track, the sprawling estate, the huge building front which I may or may not have used to rock climb via access of a friend. I've rocked backpacks of theirs tougher than rucksacks or haulbags with tape and worn in hats to dust. I've also waited 3+ months for a pair of prepaid prescription glasses only to find out they were out of stock, discontinued and then they love to party too hard. I'm particularly annoyed seeing as a global brand like that still is run like a pizza shop with teenagers. They appear to have all the swagger of a multi million dollar company, but are so compartmentalized it's like trying to socialize with engineers. I've had half jackets, flack jackets, M Wire's, O Wire's. I love their durability, everything is quality tested and there is a reason they've won gov contracts, but they need to take a serious look at where their money is spent. Sending thousands of frames to sponsored athletes only to completely deplete their stock for the people looking to buy them and keep that margin up so they can continue to sponsor athletes. I'm pretty sure that' like having Ford commercials only to have all the dealerships have no inventory. Take a tour of the building it's great, their website has jobs posted all over, but their capped, ready to be bought, made no growth recently and losing customer base all the time. It's like part museum, part college dorm room. Décor is classic steam punk wrapped in corporate façade. Bathrooms were nice, but staff is the issue. People don't treat people the way corporations treat people so when you have a rude company it comes from rude staff. What's that old saying we don't make people nice, we just hire nice people, well Fauxkley did the opposite. I'll still buy their stuff, but if I can get the prescription filled outside of Oakley. There are plenty of companies who still care about their customers and are still making quality products besides them. read more

I'm an outdoor person and have always chosen Oakleys to be my sunglasses of choice ever since I can remember Dave Scott doing Ironmans. I've owned a variety of sunglasses, even as early as those first frogskins. The last time I came here was 6 years ago, as I still have my receipt from the last transaction. I came yesterday after work and had a few of sunglasses fixed. One was fixed, not replaced. Meh. One just needed the rubber ear piece which was replaced free! Yay! The last one, I had to shell out another $29 because it was out of warranty. I wasn't too thrilled about this because I had a pair of discontinued sunglasses 6 years ago which I had to pay $30 for a upgraded new frame. Which I did 6 years ago. Which the glasses sat in my closet for 6 years. Which I took the glasses out for a run one day and part of the lens broke. Which I think it resulted from the tightness of the new frame. Which I wasn't thrilled spending another $29 yesterday on something that shouldn't be. Got it replaced anyways. Slightly happy, thanks for listening. read more

Called to verify that they can install lens for me since I didn't have the tool. Was told to come on by, 40 minute drive later I arrived to be told they didn't service aftermarket lenses. They do not manufacture my model anymore so I can't purchase there anyway. So w/ my cracked lens I'm stuck with the frame?! They refused to install the lens I already had in hand. I asked to borrow that tool he had in his hand so I can do it my self, but he refused that as well! He did allow me to take a picture of the tool so I can go buy it myself. WOW! if that isn't great customer service I don't know what is. I went to lenscrafters and they installed it without any hesitation or charge and within 3 minutes. Imagine that, a 3rd party vendor willing to provide customer service for a product that wasn't theirs or purchased from. Oakley wouldn't help me and I've been a loyal customer for YEARS. The fact that they won't service an older model because they want you to buy a brand new pair is just plain GREEDY. read more

The staff knows a lot about their product and I was nearly convinced to pick up a new pair of Gascans, but alas the money fairy has left me for the year... Oakley sunglasses are the best at doing what sunglasses are designed to do. Been loyal since 1999, I refuse to buy any other brand anymore. The service Dept is the greatest of any business I've had to deal with, they have always taken care of me on my collection when an accident happens. Many times they have not even charged for the services performed! If only things in life were all like this. For example, I sat on and broke my $450 sunglasses and they replaced the frame free of charge! Love it! read more

I've been coming to Oakley's factory store at it's headquarters for many years. In fact, I prefer it over their other stores, such as the one at the Spectrum. I've found that the service for eyeglasses has been top-notch, as they make the lenses at the HQ and place a nice little "O" on the bottom left of the left lens. There has also been a slight reduction in price for frames here, as you're basically at the factory. However, with their integration with the Luxottica Group. I'm not sure if the prices have now been comparably set in their sister stores such as Sears Optical, Lens Crafters, and Pearle Vision. I've had nothing but excellent service here every time I've gone. I've even dropped by with my frames for new nose pads and frame inspections. Clothes change seasonally and are mostly of the casual, skater, or athletic type. Parking is easy here, just roll right up the hill and visible signs can for visitors can be seen, along with some cool Oakley branded stuff. If you can't notice the big 'ol building, then you might be in the wrong area. Just go towards the building and towards the big O. I'll be back here, as I love just checking this place out for their cool knacks and seasonal clothes and goodies in the O Store. I recommend coming here if you have time, live in Orange County or the neighboring area, and like the brand. Just make sure to check their hours by giving them a call ahead of time. read more

I think it cost $20 more to custom design your frames, lenses and icons. The guy that helped me was super cool and knowledgeable. Just a quick review. The building is still closed to the public. No warranty or repairs and store is closed. The three star is for the employees who are running a mobile store out of a semi. I dropped by Oakley HQ for about an hour last week to shop at their employee store. My experience there was quick but positive. I was there around noon on a Wednesday. There weren't too many people shopping at the time. All of the sunglasses are on the first floor and upstairs is everything else (shoes, clothes, etc.). This may be HQ but they do run out of items. They didn't have the Ferrari's I was looking for but i did get my 2nd and 3rd choices. SERVICE Everyone that helped me at the store was friendly and knowledgeable. The asian guy that helped me was patient and quick. PARKING It's not easy finding a normal parking spot here. If you are just visiting though, you can just parking in visitor parking. Oakley World HQ. I went on a tour of the place back in 2003, the first for them. It was amazing to drive up to the offices, to see the huge metal doors, enter their lobby, check out their auditorium, the full size basketball court, the history of Oakley products, the ballistic testing (bb pellet shot at an Oakley sunglasses vs competition), the product testing lab, and the production line. I'll never forget it. Been back a second time with three of my X-Metals and a Wire. I needed them to adjust one of the X-Metals, and to have them change out the rubber earstocks... after many uses, the rubber they use retains oil. My old E-Wires from 1999 never retained oils, and is dry as the day I got them... now why would the current rubbers be so porous?? C'mon... make'em like you use to. Then again, Oakley replaced the rubbers for FREE! No receipt in hand, just Oakley branding and image and GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE! The X-Metal sunglasses have gone in price since they first came out, I remember $250 for the Romeo 1.0, they're up to $275-325 for them... shouldnt costs come down? I guess they want an increase in profit... I'm not a fan of the Skulls/Crossbow that's part of Oakley's image... bring back the cleaner styling. read more

What a cool place! Located on top of the hill, this is the headquarter of Oakley which also has a showroom for all Oakley products that open for public. It looks so futuristic from outside to inside the building. I feel like I'm in a spaceship or kind of. Lol. I came here looking for a pair of Half Flak with color lenses that I couldn't find in Oakley Vault stores. Brandon was helping me. He was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Brandon leaded me from room to room (they have many rooms with different types of products, mostly newest in market), explained to me different types and used of lenses... You can customize, repair, replace your Oakley prescription or sunglasses here. I was never feeling pressure to buy anything while I was here. Although I couldn't find the right one, however, Brandon advised me to come back in few months when they're available. I would definitely be back and highly recommend. read more

I heard Oakley offered a military discount for active duty military folks so they can shop at the Employee Store. This is false. I called ahead and confirmed that active duty military was allowed to shop at the employee store. Got to the main store, went to customer service, they confirmed once again that active duty was allowed in the Employee Store. Went to the Employee Store and was checking out all the merch. Asked about the pricing and the associate said wait wait wait you're military, not law enforcement or fire? Sorry, we can't let you shop here. It's just too hard to tell who's active duty and who's not. He mumbled on about how military cant shop here and he's sorry. I told him I confirmed with 2 different people before I arrived to the store and he said they must not know what they're talking about. Very disappointing. read more

Worst place to work for. Don't work here. They don't treat you nicely. Just because a lot of the people have been here for a longer time than you they think you should be professional just like them. And if you make a mistake they count it against you. Also you are standing up for 8 hours, 6 days a week repeating the same steps over and over again. Worst company to work for. At least what they can do is have chairs to sit on while working. And the pay is only 13.75 an hour which is not a good amount for them making you stand for 8 hours a day for 6 days a week. The Headquarters of Oakley is situated on top of Foothill Ranch, a city in Orange County, just north of Lake Forest. You can take your broken Oakley glasses and have it warrantied - replacement for free on certain items, at a cost for others, all depending on the item. I had to get a pair of VR28 lenses, grabbed the last pair they had for my Pennys. The Customer Service was outstanding. Upon the purchase of the lenses, they offered to replace them as well as swap out the rubber parts on the nose and temple holders. They also threw in a fee microfibre bag that you carry the glasses, as well as clean them They also have a Retail department where you can purchase glasses, clothing, watches, hats, bags, and even shoes. Wages are low, working conditions not good and general management style impersonal. The person I spoke to was literally crying the conditions were so miserable. If you are a active first responder you could actually go to the back of the factory to shop. Prices were of course cheaper than MSRP..but wasn't quite as cheap as I would want it to be. Of course the employees get a better discount than the first responders!! Wish they had more merchandise to choose from. He staff was very friendly and helpful!! Also they added additional days for the first responders to shop. Besides Tuesdays and Friday's now it's open on 2nd and Last Saturday's of the month. read more

Me and my husband, well my entire family have been loyal Oakley customers for years but ever since Luxottica took ever the quality of both product and customer service has become pretty pathetic. I got my husband their Outdoor boots in November 2019. And 9 months later they both fell apart on the same exact spot. I called Oakley customer service and I was told "yeah the warranty on foot wear is 30 days" sooooo You buy the shoes and if the fall apart 31 days later we'll your out of luck! I told my husband I will never purchase anything Oakley again it is ridiculous that I have purchased shoes like "Toms" that are cheaper shoes made out of canvas and have had them for years! Not LE friendly. I was in the area but forgot to take the card they issued me a year ago. Would not let me in even with the ID. The guy said the card is good for lifetime but not replaceable. What? Would give more stars just for the facility and variety of merchandise available. However, they just get one star because despite the fact that there were 8 buying groups in the store, not one person was engaged. When I asked the difference between the road lense and the grass lense, the clerk said it was the same only different color..,really? You think Oakley would market it for different purposes and the only difference is the color? I think not. Don't bother with the long drive out here unless you know what you want. You won't get much service or knowledgable help here. Damn, this place is hard to find. I went from the Yelp page to my Google Maps. It told me where to go, and I got to the general vicinity with no problem. My confusion started when Google maps told me I had arrived when I was on the block parallel to the actual location. Once I figured out I was on the wrong street, I still spent some time figuring out the driveway. Anyway, after some trial and error, I made it to the visitor parking area. This is the Oakley mother ship, so I expected some good stuff. They have all the glasses and gear. There are actually three segments to the Oakley store here, so it is bigger than other factory stores. I needed to replaces lenses on two pairs of sunglasses. They had just what I needed right there in stock. The lenses were full retail, so I definitely did not get any deals here. However, I was not really expecting a deal, so I was okay with paying full boat. All in all, it was a pretty good and efficient experience. I will go back when I need new lenses. Hopefully, that will be a while. I will also take family in need of sunglasses here because it is Oakley and they have some really nice stuff. read more

Please don't come here if you're thinking that this place will have some cool exclusive Oakley models that are hard to find. If you have a O Store by you...this place has the EXACT same stuff. Wow - there's a huge discrepancy in ratings, huh? Well, speaking for myself, I had a really great experience. Some tool stole my Oakley M Frames when I was in Austin and I'm a triathlete who burns a retina if I don't have my sunglasses on in even the tiniest bit of daylight. I'd never been to this location but it's considered sort of a mecca in Orange County by the dorky triathlete crowd. The guy who helped me, Ryan, absolutely rocked. He spent about an hour with me in total and was in no hurry. He just passed me different glasses while I psuedo rode in my racing position on my bike, pretending I had a helmet on, sweating and/or was at the end of Ironman when even sunglasses touching my cheeks makes me homicidal. He tried different lenses, different nosepieces, taking the glasses apart and putting the different parts in - anything that might help with the issues involved in wearing sunglasses. I left with a pair of Jawbones that I know will fit and not drive me crazy. AND I've got 30 days to return them if they do. Ryan rocks! Thanks!! read more

Purchased two pairs of sunglasses from the Oakley Vault store at the Cabazon factory outlet store late in the afternoon on a Sunday drive back to San Diego from Palm Springs. One pair was a replacement for some Spike sunglasses that I thought I had lost; the other was a new pair for my bf. I specifically asked if I could return the glasses to any Oakley Store or Vault if I found my original sunglasses. The sales rep told me that I could return them to any Oakley store within 30 days if they were in the same condition as when I purchased them. I finished the drive back to San Diego without using the glasses, as the sun had set by time we left the outlet mall. The next day I found my missing sunglasses in my work car. Today, six days after purchasing the replacement sunglasses, I tried to return them to the Carlsbad location. The sales representative cleaned the sunglasses really well and repeatedly. The representative claimed to see a scratch, which neither myself or my bf could see even with her attempting to point it out. The Carlsbad store refused to process a return, and referred me to their toll free customer service number. I advised her that the sunglasses had never been worn, or even removed from the box. She claimed that most cashiers usually check all sunglasses for scratches at the register and in the presence of the customer. I told her that the representative at the Cabazon store did not do so, and that was probably because we had three different sales people help us over our hour of shopping in the store. When I left the Carlsbad store, I dialed the customer service number. After waiting on hold for over half an hour, a representative came on and was less than helpful. Turns out that Oakley Store and Vaults are not actually part of the Oakley Company. The rep said that I should actually file a claim through their website rather than phone, but I went on their site to do so and the site refers me to call the toll free customer service number. WTF? It is very disappointing that nobody at Oakley, or their stores and vault, wants to take ownership of the issue. I have bought six pair of sunglasses (each priced at $300 plus) over the last eight years, and will never be able to purchase another pair due to the lack of concern and customer service. Their policy may save them this sale, but they will never have any return sales from me. I will be filing a claim for refund with my credit card issuer as I have not been able to resolve this issue with Oakley, and hope to recover the charge. I strongly advise anybody that purchases Oakley to be sure and have the sales representative clean and inspect them, and then inspect them yourself to ensure you are receiving a quality product that is free of defect and damage. Update on 4/5: The San Diego store processed the refund. The women working there saw a small scratch, but when I explained the story above story one of them said "They have been coming that way" and told the other representative to process the return. They even stated that they would contact the Cabazon store to remind them to check sunglasses before letting them leave the store with the purchasers. I went to the Oakley Factory on numerous times but this last time was terrible. I don't know what is going on there but the people they hire are a bunch of Assholes. I love the products and unfortunately with that I am willing to buy anything Oakley. I went in there the last time and the Security was giving me a ton of shit for where I parked. All of the Visitor was taken and I parked in the main lot. They said I was tresspassing and were going to charge me. I told them I was going to the O Store and they didn't seem to care. I recently sold everything Oakely that I have. Which was about 10K worth of items. I will never buy their products again. I can find something else. The front lobby personal behave the way like you are there to steal their glasses. First, they didn't let us in and talked to us so rude. Then, my cousin who works in Oakley came to show her card. Then, they checked our glasses to see if they are Oakley brand, we can't go in with them. I am on my way to another glasses shop. I expected it to be bigger, since it's at Oakley HQ, but it's still really nice. Plus, it's just cool checking out this awesome building. Unfortunately, no tours for the public though.
