It's kind of hard to decide how to rate this motel. Do you compare it with all motels or with the subset of cheaper motels? It's three stars when compared to all motels. However, it's five stars when you compare with other economy motels. Rooms are very clean and adequately comfortable. Blackout curtains allow for sleeping any time of day. The staff is friendly and helpful. It's close to I-80, but I didn't hear any road noise. Two very cool things: Pets are allowed without an additional fee. They offer free breakfast in the firm of a voucher for the diner that's in the property. I will look for Oaktree Inns when I travel again. read more

We arrived late in the evening and was greeted by a friendly front desk staff. We had a pretty east time checking into our room. We tried to park out front of our room, but to no avail, there was a tractor trailer and some other vehicles blocking our way. The room itself was pretty clean. Older carpets and older TV. The bathroom was a little questionable and didn't seem to be cleaned. There was an old, dried towel hanging on the back of the door that seemed to be there for a while. The carpets did have dog hair on them too. It was only $45 through Expedia, but I don't think I'll be going back. read more

The room wasnt clean and didn't have any towels. I stayed for 2 nights and had maids pounding on my door at 9am both mornings. When I didnt answer the 2nd day they repeatedly called my room from the next room over that they were cleaning. Dont stay here. The maids run the place ... and poorly. And they all look like meth heads so im sure they steal to keep their habit happy. Buyer beware. read more

It doesn't feel like a 5 star place but I can't objectively complain about anything. The rooms are cheap, clean, modern and come equipped with flat screen TV's, microwave, mini fridge and blow dryer. A bit of advice I'd like to give, book online via a discount website. ZERO Stars! This place should have been called "Last Resort Inn". What a dump! The bathroom floor had black hairs all over it. The toilet had dried pee on it. The coffee pot still had coffee in it. The bathtub didn't drain. Someone left their pajamas and worst of all, the bed had hairs and black specks in it. The single blanket on the bed was as thin as a napkin This is not a joke! To top it all off, the door to the room was very very difficult to open. We almost couldn't leave! I've never had to pay so much to stay in a roach. $80 a night plus tax. Stay away. I booked this hotel through hotwire. I had accidently booked it for the day before I meant to, so when I went to check in on the day I thought I had booked for, the girl at the front desk tells me "I don't have a reservation under your name." As I am looking up my confirmation email on my phone, a second girl comes to the front desk and tries to search for my reservation again. As she started to type in my name the first girl says "Oh, well I did find two rooms under her name, but she should have checked in yesterday." After reading my confirmation email and realizing I did indeed book the wrong date, I asked them "Okay, what now?" First girl just shrugs and the second girl says "You will need to take it up with hotwire because they already charged your account." So I explained that being it was 10pm I just wanted a place to sleep the first girl rolls her eyes at me and says "It's not our fault you booked your hotel room on the wrong date." At that point, I thanked them for their time, said goodbye, and left. As I was walking out the door one of the girls yelled after me "Have a nice night now!" I couldn't speak for the quality of the rooms or the diner. But first impressions last, and that is why excellent customer service is important. I wasn't expecting them to bend over backwards to fix the mistake I made, but simply telling me they could book my room now and pay for it (and they did have rooms available) would have likely resulted in a review that wasn't one star. The sort of customer service I received was not only unnecessary, but unacceptable. I will sleep on the side of the road in my car before ever staying at this place. I stayed here for a Friday night with my fiance a couple of weekends ago. We had booked our room at this hotel a couple of weeks earlier on a hotel booking sight and had let the staff know that we would be in pretty late. At around 1:30 AM we arrived and thankfully the check in process was quick and simple. We ended up having a room on the second floor which was only a problem because there was no elevator to help with our suitcases. However, once we got them up the stairs all was fine. Once inside the room I thought that the inn seemed a bit dated but it was clean which is all that I was really looking for. Since we were in so late and I woke up at 5 AM, I have to admit that I didn't really get to see much else of the inn. What was nice is that breakfast at the accompanying diner is included in the prices and while I personally was not able to take advantage of it, my fiance and her parents did and they loved it. The bottom line for me is that I would stay here again in the future. While its not the most glamorous hotel that I have ever stayed at, it was clean and got the job done for me. read more

This is a good three (maybe plus) star Hotel. Registration desk was efficient and friendly. The room is large functional and very clean. There was some type of weird paint stain on the bathroom floor but it was still clean. The room has a microwave, refrigerator, desk, and sitting chair. We booked over Hotwire, although I think we could have saved a few dollars booking directly. We are looking forward to breakfast at Penny's diner and a sure it's going to be better than most of the breakfasts we have had over the last month. read more

Room was comfortable and clean, added bonus was having a refrigerator and microwave. Black out curtains kept the room nice and dark. No elevators here, luckily there's only 2 floors. :-) If you book directly breakfast at the nearby diner is included. The diner is open 24/7 and located in the same parking lot as the hotel. Wasn't that impressed with the breakfast, but it sufficed as a good enough snack before heading out on the road. Overall this is a clean place to lay your head, no additional amenities like a pool or hot tub. Would suggest they provide more than 2 pillows for a queen sized bed. Lobby smelled strongly of bleach. I found out this was due to the laundry room being located behind the front desk. Great to know their linens are well disinfected between guests. Would definitely stay at this chain again next time I'm passing through. read more

I am conflicted with how many stars to give. It's definitely worth what I paid ... $50 and as others have noted, pets stay free. If I were a dog, I would probably give it 5 stars. Since my dog is not giving the review I will say that it's a perfectly acceptable dog house and a really cheap and adequate place to sleep. No bed bugs yet, but I haven't looked closely. I went with the low bid on Travelocity and the generally favorable reviews, but this dog will tell you that I would gladly spend another 50 bucks for a better bed and a cleaner room. Bottom line ... If you have a pack of hounds this is your motel, but if your wife is riding shotgun, spring for the extra $60 and stay at the Hampton. read more

So far not on a good track. I just checked in and had a terrible experience. There was a couple ahead of me. After they left, the front desk glared at me. She didn't say anything at first. Then in a very angry tone, she said, "Why do YOU PEOPLE keep checking in? It's noon. Check out is noon! Everyone keeps checking in!!!!!!" Then she scoffed at me. I answered her question, "I don't know," and I shrugged. How am I to answer that? She didn't even greet me with a hello. She just jumped in with an angry stare, an angry tone, and a "you people." She acted like it was my fault that people keep checking in. It is a Saturday in "the middle of nowhere," in Wyoming with no reception. Of course people are going to check in early, since there's really nothing much to do here except look at the very few pretty reddish rocks this city has. This is a place people pit stop on their way to Cheyenne. This lady should realize people are going to check in early. If you have the rooms available, then why treat the customer like scum, simply because you don't want to do your job? When I checked in, the room looked NOTHING like the pictures! I paid extra for a King, so you think they would be updated and nice like the pictures on the website. Nope. Shitty, outdated, and ugly. The bed has a smell of old pee too. Like they waited so long to wash the sheets that it was impossible to get out. Old smelling bedding. The room is really musty. What is up with motels and smelling musty!!? Curtains are not "black out," like the website promises. I pulled the curtain over as far as it would go & still have this problem (see the photo.) I wanted to nap, but now I might find it difficult. A true black out curtain will be one curtain that will pull completely over to one side. By making it into two small curtains, it creates the problem shown in the picture below. I am not sure who designed this feature, but he or she was not the brightest. Fridge has dried on spilt soda or something really gross. Not cleaned. Walls are thin, not soundproof like the website says. I could keep hearing a kid scream/cry. Lumpy bed (mattress topped kept getting bunched up consistently with the slightest movements.) Wifi is REALLY SPOTTY. Not worth the rate so far. read more

Very nice and affordable hotel after a long day of driving. Four of us stayed comfortably in a double queen room. There was a microwave and fridge available. The sink was outside the bathroom which was convenient when you have people showering while others are brushing their teeth. Right in the parking lot there's a 24/7 diner that I'm told has great food. Stab were nice and room looked great. Only downside was no pool which is survivable. Check it out! read more

Had a great experience staying here on 10/17. From the outside its not much to look at, but it is a extremely clean and friendly place. The bonus is Penny's Diner out front. We got a free breakfast vouchers for all 3 of us and I was completely stuffed by the time we left. Great deal at a great price of $58 plus tax. read more

My father and I stopped here on our way to Oregon on our cross-country road trip. I have to say that where it is located is beautiful and is easy access to get on and off I-80. It took a little while to check-in but the lady was very nice. They are pet friendly and my dog Maverick had plenty of area to do his business. The staff even came out and played with Maverick. We got a double room and the room was very clean and didn't have that musky smell some hotels have, which we really appreciated. The wifi is free but very slow and you will need wifi if you have Sprint for cell phone coverage as there is none available in Green River. Also, there are very few restaurants available in the area. I would highly recommend it and would totally stay there again! read more

I can only hope the Wyoming Health Department condemns this place sooner rather than later. Yelp has forced me to give the Travelodge at least one star. I want everyone to know, I'd give it no stars; if allowed. I'm here way too often. Not by choice. This is where I'm forced to stay. The place is always filthy. Maids do a horrendous job cleaning rooms. Sheets are rarely clean. I have terrible arthritis in my shoulders, and typically need an extra pillow or two for elevating my arm while sleeping. The majority of the time, I'm told by the front desk they don't have any extra pillows. The bathrooms are always filthy. The A/C-Heating unit rarely works as expected. It's very loud when a neighbor closes their door. I've found spoiled food here in the room refrigerators. I've found empty liquor bottle between the mattress and foundation. I typically end up with mysterious new bug bites after each stay. The in-room coffee pots are dirty. On top of all that, if you've ever been disgruntled due to terrible Wi-Fi, be prepared to want to kill something. I'm starting to think the reason the internet here is so terrible, is so people can't tell folks on Yelp how disgusting this hotel really is. Stay anywhere but here. Sleep in your car. If the weather is nice, camp down by the river. You'll have a better night. Trust me. Of course, after reading other reviews, I can only imagine that their "real guests" are treated to much better accommodations. I guess those of us that stay here most often are discriminated against for some reason. read more

Horrible experience. When we walked in, the front desk clerk didn't acknowledge us at all, and we were the only people in the room. After handing her a driver's license, she just stared at it like an idiot. We expounded that we had a reservation. She looked shocked and started fumbling around with the computer. It took her 10 minutes to check us in. She never asked what card we wanted the room billed to, and said after she ran the total she used what was on file from Expedia, which was the incorrect card by the way. She never told us any information about security deposits, and never ran down cost for us. Zero information regarding the fitness center or alerting us about breakfast options. She gave a very vague description of how to get to our room. This place has several different buildings with the rooms inside, but the buildings are all labeled with letters. My key slip has numbers on it (genius right?). I had to get out of my car and run up to the building and go inside to see if it was the correct one. Upon entering the room, there was junk all over the floor. It looked like they vacuumed half the place then just left. The rest was decent, and sheets were clean. Overall I would only stay here again if every other hotel was booked and I was too tired to drive to another town. Zero customer service. read more

I had a very unfortunate experience at this motel that involved another guest that had me calling 911 for police. Hotel management took the matter very seriously but at the time the incident took place there was no staff to be found and no one was answering the phone at reception. There seems to be a lot of long term guests here from work crews so there is a different vibe here to other motels I've stayed at. There didn't seem to be couples or families and as a single female with a child, it wasn't the best place for us. It was just a stop on a road trip for us so as far as the room itself went, the beds were comfy, the heating/aircon worked well, there were lots of TV channels and the room was fairly clean. The bathroom wasn't as clean though and obviously hadn't been checked. There were several "short hairs" all around the shower/bath, one even right on the edge of the bath that was in plain sight when you walked in. The water temperature was very touchy between very hot and very cold so it was hard to have a nice shower. The wifi was not good at all in the evenings to the point that it didn't work at all the second night we were there and as we're from Australia and don't have data on our devices here, we rely on the places we stay to have good connections. The 3 most important things to me with accommodation is that it's clean, safe and has good wifi. Unfortunately we didn't find it here. :( read more

Clean rooms, but pretty basic. Really is a one star place and not a two star place as they claim. Rooms are large, but the bed was rather small and there was no desk or anything to put things on excerpt a chair and a small end table. It's a little on the pricey side specially considering what you get, but Oak Tree tends to set up shop in mining and energy towns in the middle of nowhere, so prices are already skewed. We were extremely happy with this little motel on 1-80 in Green River, Wyoming. They were more than happy to have our dog (although other guests should take more responsibility of picking up their dog's wastes), the room was spotless, the bed comfortable and quiet. There are a lot of construction workers who stay there, and the ones we saw were polite and quiet. No complaints at all about this place. read more

Green River is a small town in Wyoming, known mostly for its connections to the railroad. We visited as part of a trip around Utah, Colorado and Wyoming, it was pictures taken at Green River that first inspired my fiancés interest in American trains several years ago. We booked the motel through ebookers, and when we arrived the receptionist said she recognised our name but didn't actually have our reservation for that evening. However she quickly assigned us a room, exactly as we had booked and took a copy of the email print out I had with me to sort out any problems that arose later. We were given our room key, along with a brown paper bag containing a breakfast voucher, shampoo and coffee. The reception area had an ice machine and other vending machines, and I believe that these were also available in the doorway to each building. As all Oak Tree Inn's they are primarily set up for Union Pacific Railroad employees, but fill any spare capacity with paying guests. This was not obvious during our stay, I only read this when I arrived home. We did have views of the railroad, which of course pleased my railroad fan fiancé, and the motel is just off the interstate. I did not notice any noise from the road or railway during the night. Their website states that the rooms are deliberately noise and light proofed to help the railroad employees on shiftwork to sleep. The motel is a very large complex; spread over 4 separate buildings each with 2 floors. I didn't find out the total number of rooms. Rooms on the ground floor, (1st floor in America!) have doors opening to the carpark space outside the door. Access to upstairs rooms was via stairs at either end of the building and the doors open on to internal corridors. There is a Penny's Diner in the grounds; this is a traditional 1950s American Diner! The food was great, typically cheap and plenty of it. Very little choice for vegetarians, but then that's normal for Wyoming too! The diner is open 24 hours a day, presumably to feed the hungry engineers and railroad staff who come and go at all times of day! The inn supplies a voucher for free breakfast at the diner, this cannot be used for dinner, but is valid for the most expensive breakfasts on the menu! You do have to pay taxes and of course the tip. Our spotlessly clean room had a king sized bed, and a recliner to sit in whilst watching the large TV, in the corner was a fridge and microwave. The bathroom has a bath with shower over. There is a hairdryer in the room, and we had too many TV channels to count. We only had one night in Green River so I can't tell you what the room servicing was like. The inn has a gym and whirlpool, but we didn't use it. We paid $78 plus 8% tax for a room for two people through ebookers, getting a little cashback thorugh Quidco. A quick look at their website shows that booking direct may be a little more expensive, but it would be possible to guarantee a king sized bed. Rooms with two queen sized beds are also available. We would definitely go back to this hotel, and will look out for others in the same chain on future visits to the USA. read more

We paid $42 (without tax) for a room. The hotel and room were very clean. The bed was comfortable and had no trouble sleeping. The black out curtains worked well, we didn't even know when the sun came up. The room was basic. The bathroom was clean and the shower was very hot with lots of pressure. The sink was outside the bathroom, right inside the door. Don't have anyone open the door while you are washing up! The air conditioner (fan always ran) was a little loud, especially when the air kicked on. There is no breakfast and no discount for the diner that's attached. Would I stay again? Maybe, if the price is as cheap as the price I got and if no other "nicer" motel was available for a low price. I would recommend it, however. We weren't really disappointed. We got what we paid for so my husband and I were both happy with the Oak Tree Inn. read more

Too bad there is not a negative star rating. For a 20 year high school class reunion, we had blocked a number of rooms. When I called 4 months in advance to reserve a room under our blocked rooms, I was told that there were no rooms blocked. I called back and spoke with the front desk clerk, manager and finally the general manager. What happened to our blocked rooms depended on who you asked. I was told that all the blocked rooms were filled. Then I was told we lost the blocked rooms because a credit card was not used to reserve the block. Finally, I was told by the GM that the hotel was ALREADY full when we attempted to block a section of rooms. Due to their error, they accepted our blocked rooms even though they were full. Then they thought it wise not to contact our representative once the error was discovered so that we could make contingency plans. What made matters worse is that they tried to talk their way out of it and once they were caught in a lie, they said they didn't know and sent it up the so-called chain of command. Poor, poor management and communication. They obviously do not care about their customers. Stay away and I'll see you at the Mustang Motel instead. read more

I stay in this hotel about 20+ weeks a year due to work. Do not be fooled, this hotel is a SHIT hole! Here are some of the common problems you will find here. The heater in 222 will set off the smoke detector every time it comes on. About 30% of the time the remote is not programed for the TV and the desk help can only be bothered to write a work order for maintenance the next day. The reason they can't figure the remote out is because 60% of the rooms on the second floor still have some crappy rear projection tv's from the early 90's. NO HBO. The shower will go from ICE COLD to burn your pink parts and back to ice constantly. The interent here runs at the speed of smell, about .75mbps according to speedtest.net. The towels always have a refreshing musky smell to them. ALL the blankets on the second floor ( Ihave stayed in every room up there) feel like a dirty taco vender slept in them before you got there. Half the air conditioners are so 20 year old relics that smell like they are blowing out black mold, some wont stay on due to the stupid motion detector unless you run around the room, and the rest well some actually work. Most of the beds are less comfortable than the box spring under my bed at home. My sleep number at the Oak Tree? 00! I bring my own pillows and blanket, the office does not have extra and you don't want to see a pillow with no pillow case on it. The only reason I stay here is because this is where the company bids us to stay here and I am reimburst nicely, but still try to stay ANYWHERE else. Oh yeah and half of the tubs have some black funk growing under some kind of rubber trim they applied to cover it. Oh and Penny's dinner, take a pass DO NOT eat at the Green River Mcdonalds either, just suck it up and go to Rock Springs. By the way when the desk help brags to you that she graduated 14th in her class (of 15 she includes later) you know the quality you can expect, your not getting the village idiot but you will be checked in by a Forest Gump. read more
