I will update as I have received my package on time. Their confirmation email could use more information, and explicit information given that shipment will not occur until 30 + days later. Since online ordering closed on the university website I was unable to see what information was exactly given on the order process page. If you're a graduate looking to have photos done prior to your commencement and an online student, I recommend taking the time out of your day to visit campus and order on site. The only thing I'll say about the gown and information is I'm petite and 180 pounds. However, the gown I ordered for that size following their guidelines is extremely big on me and where the shoulders hit fall past my shoulders. It looks like I slapped a garbage bag on myself and will have to seek additional tailoring as commencement is very soon. read more

Extremely unhappy with this company. Not only do they not address their clearly terrible reviews, but customer service is no help at all. On my order confirmation it clearly states "Bachelor's Package," yet I received a Masters gown?? The company took a week to answer the email (with graduation right around the corner) and had me on hold for 30 minutes with no answer. I had to go to my campus and buy another gown, then Oak Hall finally responded saying I have to return it and will receive a refund less shipping. I should not have to pay $18 for shipping when I was sent the wrong gown. My friend was also sent the wrong gown, so I feel bad for the people who will be wearing the incorrect gown to their graduation because of the carelessness of this company. read more

This company did not deliver on its promises. I was told I would receive an email with tracking information, but that never happened. I was also told my regalia would arrive in time for graduation; however, with less than 24 hours before the ceremony, that is not truly "on time," especially when the garment still needs to be steamed and prepared. To make matters worse, I sat on hold with customer service for over an hour just to get any support. When I asked whether the company was willing to do anything to correct the issue or support a $1,250 purchase, the answer was essentially no. In fact, they agreed that leaving a negative review was the best option. Overall, this was a deeply disappointing experience with a less-than-stellar company. The customer service agent, Page, unfortunately represented the pinnacle of poor customer service and lack of support. read more

Incompetent does not begin to describe this business. After paying over $100 for my regalia, they sent the wrong hood. They acknowledged the error and emailed me on March 30th, stating they sent the correct hood and that no further action was required on my part. Well, today is April 13th, so I followed up via phone call so I could at least get an idea of when it is coming (you know, a tracking number or something) for scheduling purposes... Well, lo and behold, they did not send anything at all! So of course, they say, "well we will have it out there in a week and a half". I request expedited shipping given the fact that this is THEIR error to rectify. They say that this is the expedited shipping time... What a joke! What would have happened if I hadn't called to make sure they fixed their mistake? Oak Hall: Get yourselves together! Schools are trusting you with once-in-a-lifetime moments for their students. Finally, child labor quality with "Made in America" tags. Cute design. Says Wayne State on it. The ratty and fraying stitching reads, "Help, I'm 6," in Cantonese, but nobody will read it. Disintegrating polyester trash is well worth the $110 to match everyone else during a 3-hour ceremony once. Could this company be taught as an example of the sh3t quality you get when you allow a company to monopolize a market (each university)? No, I don't think so. That's a bad question to ask. read more

This business is absolute garbage. They forgot to include the hood I purchased with my grad package, and then refused to re-ship when I called to complain. So I paid $60 to have a new one shipped. It still hadn't left the store 10+ days later, so I sent an email expressing my concern. They replied via email that a customer should never have to pay for their mistake and that I should have just called so they could expedite a replacement for me. When I expressed that I had in fact called, they offered to ship me a second hood for free so I could return the one I purchased for a refund. That was 20 days ago, and I still haven't received the replacement hood or a refund read more

Pathetic customer service and no reliability. Sent the wrong color cap and wrong length gown. Tried to get a refund and they waited over a month to reply stating your return must be sent back to them within 30 days of receival. Laughable company. read more

Wish I could give this company 0 zero stars. Shipping times are A JOKE. Why should it take up to 30 days to receive a shipment when graduation is a time sensitive experience? To add insult to injury, customer service provides false dates of when your package should be shipped to only continously push it back and blame it "on the warehouse." I ABSOLUTELY HATE that I was forced to patron this business simply because my university uses them. They're are making what is supposed to be a joyous experience the MOST STRESSFUL it could have possibly been. read more

DONT ORDER - SCAM!! They don't tell you they are in China. You find out once they process the order. Did receive the items but they were NOT Judy Blue as advertised and although supposedly same item - 1 of the them was way smaller than other. When you try to return, that is when you are informed shipping needs to go to China. Then they continually give you run around and keep offering 20% discount & can keep item. Don't think even if you sent back, you would ever see your money again. read more

I ordered a cap, gown, tassel and hood for my college graduation. They sent me what I ordered and then 4 days later I received an identical package with a duplicate order. I tried calling them to see why I had received a duplicate (I only ordered one) and to make sure I would not be charged for the duplicate. The first day that I called I was directed by the person on the phone to customer service; sat on hold for 25mins and eventually just ended the call. The next day tried again, got to customer service after another 20mins on hold only for the guy to be extremely confused-seeming, ask me repeatedly the same question (continued asking if I had been charged, if I had really received a separate duplicate etc). Also called me the wrong name (a different similar name starting with the same first letter) 5+ times even though presumably he had my name in front of him on the order info. I was on the call for an hour plus because i kept getting put on hold while they sent me the return shipping info. Yes, for some reason I now have to take time and gas money out of my day driving to UPS to return this package because of the company's mistake! read more

Worst business I've dealt with in a long time. As a doctoral graduate, I should be looking forward to my graduation in two days. Instead I'm trying to figure out option two because I can't get an update from Oak Hall. As many have said they don't answer email, there phone system is a waste, and then when you finally reach someone the response is we will contact you with an update 24-48 hours. Guess what? The 48 hours are up and no one has contacted me and when I called again there is still no update. Their solution is for me to call my university bookstore to see if they have a loaner. Really?! I just spent over a thousand dollars on regalia and you want me to wear a loaner. Worst customer service ever. They won't even let you talk to a manager and basically tell you good luck getting a hold of one because they are busy on the shipping floor (LOL). I really suggest that universities start looking elsewhere for a gown place or be more involved in making sure Oak Hill can meet deadlines. No graduate should have to stress to the point that they aren't enjoying the graduation process at all. read more

Very disappointed with this business. They sent me a hat that's not fitting for people of color with natural hair. The school is telling me how to comb my hair to fit in their #$#$# CAP ( well that is a differnt story that I will get to in time). Anyway this company refuse to send me the correct cap so that I can have it in time for my graduation in two weeks. They insist that I must return the cap at my expense before they can send me it. I am very disappointed after I told them that I am out of town and will not be able to send it until the end of the week. After admitting to sending the correct size you are still unwilling to fix the problem. read more

Report them to the Better Business Bureau if you have a similar experience. I am waiting to see what happens in my case before I report. 4/25/2023: I have been tracking my order for weeks and it appears to not be moving into the "shipped" section. For the past two weeks, it has not moved and I tried to discuss why it cannot be shipped if it is already "processed" and apparently not even a manager is able to have this discussion. Initially, I was been on hold for 20 minutes during their active business hours. They ask for 8 weeks to process and I had called to see if 7 weeks was enough and was initially told yes that they could even overnight it to me in order to ensure it got here in time but now it is an issue. My delivery date was then pushed almost 2 weeks past the 8-week mark. I spent close to a thousand dollars on this order and expected a higher level of customer service for this amount of money. I will be discussing this issue with my university in hopes that future students receive options on where to shop. 5/2/2023 update: Still no call has been returned from their managers, Melissa or Veronica. Normally, I'm not one to leave reviews online, but I feel compelled to share my experience, which was far from satisfactory. 1) I ordered my custom doctoral regalia on March 15, 2023. The website clearly stated, "Please enter your desired delivery date EIGHT weeks from today." Calculating eight weeks (56 days) from my order date, the delivery should have been on May 10. My commencement ceremony was scheduled for May 13, so I expected my order to arrive in plenty of time. The total cost for my regalia was $1,289.47, which included the regalia itself ($1,157.07), shipping ($19.95), and tax. The receipt further states that "Custom Regalia - Ships within 8 weeks - $19.95". 2) However, I didn't receive any updates on my order until the week of the commencement ceremony. After several unsuccessful attempts to get through via email, I finally managed to speak with a customer service representative over the phone, just three days before the ceremony. The representative informed me that they couldn't deliver my regalia in time for the commencement, but they could provide a rental for the event. While I appreciated their effort to find a solution, it was far from ideal. The reason I placed the order was to wear my own regalia at the ceremony. The fact that I couldn't do so was a significant disappointment. Consequently, I requested them to cancel my order and process a refund, to which they assured me they would. 3) As of this morning, I haven't received any updates on the refund. When I reached out to customer service again, I was told they couldn't process the refund. First, they claimed that eight weeks from March 15 was May 15, not May 10. When I explained the difference between eight weeks (56 days) and two months (60-62 days), they stubbornly insisted there was no difference. (Well, today was May 16 and I have not received my regalia so they failed to meet their "2 months" time frame anyway). They further stated that they never guaranteed delivery within eight weeks and reiterated their "all sales are final" policy. In my view, this policy should not apply in cases where they fail to fulfill the order within the agreed timeframe. Their inability to deliver the product as per the stated timeline, rendering it unavailable for the specific event it was purchased for, should certainly warrant an exception to the "all sales are final" policy. 4) The customer service I received today was not just unhelpful, but also rude and unprofessional. Instead of offering an apology and discussing potential solutions, they seemed only interested in defending their position. In light of these issues, I have initiated a dispute process along with my credit card company. I hope this resolves the issue. I share this experience to caution future customers. Be aware of potential discrepancies between the stated delivery timeline and actual delivery dates, as well as their uncooperative customer service. read more

I honestly wish I could give zero stars. I ordered my cap and gown over a month ago and didnt get an update or anything after my order confirmation. They do not respond to phone calls or emails. I made numerous! And I was not able to take pictures for my graduation which were due the week before. My cap and gown came the day before my graduation. These moments are very sentimental to individuals and Oak Hall has proved that they do not care at all. Horrible customer service! read more

They deserve ZERO STAR. My order was damaged and they did not respond to any of my phone calls and multiple emails. I missed my grad photo session because Oak Hall had no customer service and cared less about customers' problems (as mentioned by many reviewers here). I honestly have no idea how they stay in business, and why the schools are still referring students to Oak Hall. I am filing a complaint to my school. Oak Hall is the WORST company I dealt with in at least the last 12 months or more. read more
This business doesn't even deserve any star they are horrible and unprofessional I'm definitely going to sue them if anyone read this & want to do a class action law suit reach out to me they need to be held accountable not us people have had their graduation come & go without their cap & gown pain and suffering added to the law suit we worked hard for our money mainly doing Covid a bit part of a great memory. ZERO STARS. Placed order April 4th, as instructed by college. By May 16th, three days before graduation, the order had still not shipped. Sent many emails to customer service with NO response. Called continuously for days to as many phone numbers I could find, they do NOT answer their phones. Finally got thru to "Samantha" - was told they are doing the best they can. And they were planning to bring any unshipped cap and gowns to the ceremony and we could pick it up then. How is THAT a SOLUTION?! Very disappointed. I worked hard for this degree and you are ruining the celebration. read more

HORRIBLE. They do not answer any calls whatsoever. I've been calling numerous times for probably an hour total. I finally reached the operator and she was extremely rude and unkind. She ended up transferring me to the same number I've been calling. They say to allow for "up to 2 weeks for processing" well it's been over two weeks and my order still hasn't shipped out. Graduation is supposed to be an exciting time and this company makes it stressful and upsetting. I'm disappointed that schools continue to choose this company. read more

I like many of the comments ordered my cap and gown with plenty of time accounting for their notice to "Please allow up to 4 weeks for processing (+ transit time)" It has now been 30 days (excluding weekend and holidays) since I have ordered and I have not received any communication other than the receipt on the day I ordered. I have attempted multiple times to contact the company by phone, email, and Facebook message. I have not gotten the chance to speak to anyone only getting a recorded response of "With the added volume that carriers are experiencing, you may see a slightly longer transit time on shipments going to your residence. We appreciate your patience." or "Because of overwhelming last minute orders, there may be a delay in shipping your graduation cap and gown. Please be patient, we are working very hard to meet graduation dates." or "Thank you for contacting Oak Hall Cap & Gown. Due to the extreme volume of orders, we are unable to answer you immediately. Please be assured that we are fulfilling all orders and meeting all graduation dates. Once your order ships, you will receive an email from us with a tracking number. Please allow 24 - 48 hours for UPS to upload your tracking information into their system. Thank you for your patience and congratulations on your upcoming commencement." This is the three responses that I have gotten repeatedly with in this month and it is unacceptable. The company quickly took my money, causing me to also loose out on deposits for graduation pictures, as well as not receiving my cap and gown by my graduation this Thursday (May 20th). I am very upset and hate that this very special time is tarnished by not having one of the symbols of my and my fellow graduates have worked so hard for. I will be sure to join what ever committee or planning board to ensure that my school or no school I am affiliated with in the future with will ever utilize this company for our regalia needs. read more

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. If I could give 0 stars I would. This is the worst business. I ordered my cap and gown MONTHS before my grad school convocation. There were no updates on shipping through the tracking, I practically had a better chance of winning the lottery than getting through on their phone lines, with multiple occasions of waiting over an hour before finally giving up. I finally got through and all they could tell me was that they did not have an update and could not guarantee it would arrive on time. I had to purchase regalia elsewhere to ensure I could walk at graduation. Sure enough, this order arrived after my convocation so I immediately called through the horrible phone line (whose new phone tree sends you in circles) and finally someone told me that they could process the return. I got the UPS shipping label, immediately sent it out the next day and got confirmation from UPS that it arrived a couple of days after. Now here we are 1.5 months after it arrived at Oak Hall, and I have not received any communication from them or a refund. This caused so much more stress than it was worth. I will never do business with this company again and I suggest everyone avoids it at all costs to save your sanity and ensure a smooth process to graduation. They have no remorse or apologies. read more

If I had read reviews prior I would've never placed an order, but I put my trust and faith into my school that they wouldn't choose an unreliable business to work with, however that is far from the case. I placed an order 4/22/23 - I waited two weeks which was enough time for it to process and then be shipped. --- 5/6/23 - The status bar never updated, I emailed them due to it being the weekend and they don't accept phone calls, as of now no response. ----5/8/23 - I call but they have high volume calls.... The communication is basically nonexistent, it feels like I have been communicating with a brick wall the way that I haven't been able to get a response back via email, nor does anyone ever answer the phone. Graduation is supposed to be an experience that is joyful and this company has done nothing but made it insufferable. As stated in another review, if you already placed an order and you haven't heard anything, you're better off reporting them to the Better Business Bureau (BBB). read more

One star is too much... SHADY(SHITTY) BUSINESS ALERT!!! Oak Hall Cap & Gown is supposed to provide cap and gowns for the University of Maryland Graduation. We Ordered and paid for Matthew's cap and gown nearly 2 months ago. Graduation is tomorrow, and we still do not have our cap and gown. As a matter of fact, all of Matthews friends have also not received their cap and gowns. The claimed a few days a go that everyones orders shipped last week. Of course they can't provide a tracking number. Then today, the day they indicated that everyone was guaranteed t get their order, they told us it was overnighted today... WAIT...GRADUATION IS TOMORROW!!! Once again, they can't provide a tracking number... I CALL BULLSHIT!! I see UPS tracking numbers as soon as a label is created with my address, long before UPS even receives the package!! Think about all of the students who live out of state, and ordered to be delivered to their home address as Oak Hall Cap & Gown recommended... Potentially thousands of students without cap and gown for graduation tomorrow!!! THE UNIVERSITY WILL NOT ALLOW STUDENTS TO PARTICIPATE WITHOUT CAP AND GOWN!!! WAY TO GO Oak Hall Cap & Gown FOR RUINING AN IMPORTANT MILESTONE FOR ALL THESE KIDS WHO WORKED SO HARD FOR THE LAST 4 YEARS!!! It may be hard to avoid doing business with these clowns, but given a choice, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!! Like others here, I wish I would have ordered from Amazon. I wanted to support a smaller business not a conglomerate business. Totally upset with this business. My order was placed March 29, 2021. After on phone call that the woman seemed totally out of touch and refused to give me a tracking number and any information since it was well past the 2 weeks promised I was left hanging. I did order a back up 3 days ago via amazon and it came today. Today my original Oak Hall cap and gown came. I paid an extra $31.99 for a first generation stole. It's so cheap and I will have to fix the way it was pressed is totally off the seam. The $6.00 one from Amazon is nicer and returnable. Oak Hall has a no return policy, they also do not answer any email or phone calls now. This whole experience has been horrible. I understand many schools waited to determine if they were doing in-person graduations and they were slammed with business. There are so many more positive ways they could have dealt with this situation. For a business that has been in business for 130 years and, this generation who has more communication tools than any one previously, has failed business 101 in communication. read more
