I studied abroad one semester at Georgia Tech Lorraine, and this place saved me! Almost every day,…read moremy friends and I would come here and eat their sandwiches or pasta. It was really relieving because we didn't speak any French at all - by the end of the semester we kind of learned how to speak enough to order what we wanted - and they were still friendly enough to deal with us stuttering and ordering! Their beignets were INCREDIBLE, and to this day my friends and I just talk about how we wish we could go back to eat them. I always asked for sundried tomatoes and olives in my chicken sandwich and they kindly always added them.
I think another huge plus about this place is that they have vegetarian pasta on most days. My friends were vegetarian, and to study abroad in France as a vegetarian means cold sandwiches with cheese and tomatoes - and maybe egg. Aux Petits Choux's hot pasta made Metz feel more like home to them, and that's a big part of why we always went!
Other great things about this place are the bakery items, like their tarts and eclairs; everything always tasted so great and was reasonably priced. Only issue - beignets run out by the lunch rush, so get there early!!
