I had used Nööp and Liidia Sohlman's services from a recommendation of a friend. I had a black leather coat that would not zip up properly because of a problem that I had with the zipper on the coat. The shop is located in the Malmi region of Helsinki and is located in the back of Kirkonkyläntie 37 which is a short walk from both bus stops. Meeting Liidia was a nice experience although her English was limited we were still able to get through with what we needed to say. She was very warm, pleasant, and very professional as well as a pleasure to deal with. What I particularly enjoyed was that she gave options of what could be done from repairing the zipper which she had done and oiled it in a few minutes at "no charge" to recommending a replacement zipper where she showed me much heavier zippers made right here in Finland and in different colours which all were of a better quality than the original zipper that came with the coat. She also showed me where the break was in the zipper which still could present a problem later and probably would have meant a replacement anyways. I could have thank Liidia and walked out having had my coat temporarily repaired at no charge but I chose to have the zipper replaced and I was confident that she would do a good job. Liidia is an experienced seamstress with many years experience with a specialty and experience in working with leathers. I did not have to put down a deposit when I left the coat and she showed me and explained to me that leather needs to be conditioned on a regular basis minimum of once a year. I never knew that and I asked if she could do it for me in addition to replacing the zipper. It all took one week, cost me in total €80, the coat looks brand new, and it was quite well worth it. Seven years ago I had a similar job done with a seamstress in Haaga which had cost almost the same, took three weeks, not conditioned, and the whole experience was unpleasant. Because of that experience and other customer experiences that I have had in Finland, I was sceptical, but I was greatly surprised by my pleasant experience with Liidia, her professionalism, and the quality of the work that was performed on my coat.
