Günter's is a fantastic little sausage stand in a mostly-residential section of Vasastan…read more There always seems to be a bit of a line, but it moves quickly. Günter's has a wide variety of sausages, which are served on baguettes with chimichurri, sauerkraut, hojhoj sauce (a slightly spicy sauce), and mustard. Rather than cut the baguette in half, they drill a hole in the middle, and then fill it with the sausage and toppings, which makes for a neat eating experience without condiments dripping out of the side of the bun. All of the ingredients seem to be high quality, and the chimichurri is an amazing compliment to the sausage. (I always get the sausage with everything, but the chimichurri stands out.) I've been to Günter's at least four times over multiple trips to Stockholm. I've liked everything I've eaten there, but I don't have a standard sausage I order. On this most recent visit, I had the sucuk (a turkish sausage), which was great.

He said we should return in no more than ten minutes. We set off to explore the area while he set to work on what was soon to become a masterpiece. One sandwich was on a fresh made baguette while the other was sliced from a loaf. Both were packed full of fresh veg, homemade dressing and cheese. Take a look at the photos for the details. It makes me crazy that I can't get this back home. Is it really that hard? We ate in the nearby park and tossed a few crumbs off to the birds to get a better look at them. What are those things anyway? If you're in a hurry and want something simple, be sure to consider these guys.

Of course while in Stockholm, you MUST eat a tunnbrödsrulle - it was the stuff of legend at my hostel. I found this place to be open quite late into the night, I believe it was probably 2100 or later on my last day in Stockholm. The staff do not speak great English but were able to help me get what I wanted despite not being able to pronounce any of it. For about 50 Swedish kronas, you get a very filling meal reminiscent of a Moe's or Chipotle burrito (in size), which is by Stockholm standards a fantastic deal. As for the actual tunnbrödsrulle, I could characterize it as an interesting mix of flavors. If I were more of a foodie, I could complain the flavors don't really mix well or compliment each other. But you're reading this because you're in Stockholm and you want a tunnbrödsrulle. This is an excellent place to get it. It's probably the cheapest of the many places I've seen as well.

F.Y.I., if everyones ordering the hotdogs..... get a damn hotdog! The Hamburger was awful! It tasted like a large round sausage and had the rubbery texture of one (still in it's outer casing). EKKKK! =P On top of the grossness of it all they had no plate or tray to put it on... so I ended up "making" a plate out of a large pile of napkins on the table. Those poor children and their parents must have thought I was a hobo. LOL! Despite that nasty experience, I gave the place two stars because I'm pretty sure all those other people liked their hotdogs. That, and I don't think you can really have that high of an expectation for place like this.
