The bartender offered to get one of the fish specials de-boned for us. However once we were seated for dinner the waitress who served us said that they would not be able to de-bone the fish..... I'm not sure why the description says it has valet, I only saw a parking lot out back. That is pretty rare for a restaurant on Shrewsbury St though, so I was happy to have parking. I went to Nuovo because I was craving carbonara, and after a google search I realized very few Italian restaurants in Worcester actually have it on their menu. I was happy with my carbonara (although it was served in the more traditional Italian way without peas and I do love peas), but disappointed in a few other small points with the restaurant. The carbonara was $17 (just pasta, no chicken or anything). To start, it was a very hot day, and although they had the glass floor length windows shut, the lounge area was very hot. It made for an uncomfortable dinner even with the ice water and sangria we ordered. Speaking of the sangria, although it was very good we ordered two pitchers and we got 4 glasses out of the first pitcher and only 2 out of the second. We were very disappointed with that, especially because we paid $18 for each pitcher. So the first one was a good value and the second one was more expensive than just straight wine. Our server removed our small plate we used for bread, the dipping oil (which was good but very heavy on the raw garlic), and the butter we requested while there was still a piece of bread on the table. So needless to say that piece of bread didn't get eaten. The bread was very good though, a nice crusty roll. My roommate ordered chicken piccata which is $10 for just chicken and nothing on the side. So she ordered angel hair pasta to be served with it for an additional $6. The sauce had no detectable lemon flavor in it and was pretty bland. She also had a caprese salad that she enjoyed. We asked to see the dessert menu, but nothing seemed appealing. Most of the desserts were the pre-prepared frozen type things you see at every restaurant. I almost got the lemocello gelato ($5.50), but after our disappointment with our second pitcher of sangria and the heat we just decided to leave. read more

We received a gift card to Nuovo and decided to visit for the first time during Worcester Restaurant Week winter 2016. My husband ordered the baked haddock with polenta, and I ordered the gemelli bolognese with a house salad. My husband had no complaints about his meal, but mine was nothing special. The salad boasted a variety of vegetables plus olives--but what I got was a tiny plate of mixed greens, a half slice of tomato, and one olive. The bolognese lacked flavor and salt. For a basic and traditional italian pasta dish, it was very disappointing. For dessert, we ordered the flourless chocolate cake and the tiramisu. The chocolate cake was incredibly rich and tasty. But the tiramisu was nothing more than a layer cake trying to pass as something else. It was a perfectly triangular slice of white cake with a couple layers of lightly coffee flavored frosting and a dusting of cocoa powder on top. In my opinion, what makes tiramisu the wonderful dessert it should be is the cake being soaked in espresso. This version was dry and lacked any coffee/espresso flavor. I would expect restaurants participating in Restaurant Week to put their best foot forward on that special menu, but Nuovo did not. We'll be indulging our italian cravings elsewhere. read more

Had a nice meal at Nuovo when the wait at Volturno Pizza was too long. Just kind of stumbled in and everything went really well. Super nice staff, interesting well priced menu. The bartender seemed fun but we were seated at a table in the bar area cuz it was too difficult to maneuver the bar on crutches. Some martini deals for $5 but I had a good pear one for only $9. Split scallops with cheese ravioli that were very good, if a tad oily. And started with oysters Rockefeller that could have used a little more cheese but overall, we had a very pleasant meal there. read more

I really want to like Nuovo - the restaurant is modern, fresh, warm, and inviting and our server was very nice. The only issue I have with it is that the food is below average. For our entrees, I ordered the marinated chicken breast ($8) with a side of asparagus and lemon butter sauce ($6), and my fiancé ordered the veal Parmesan ($19). My fiancé's dinner was suppose to come with a salad, but our server must have forgotten since he never received the salad. My chicken was a disappointment; it was under seasoned to the point where I really question whether or not the chicken was actually marinated. My asparagus was also over cooked, chewy, and "odd" tasting. My fiancé enjoyed his veal Parmesan but said that it was average at best and believes it tasted like his meal had been frozen before being heated and served to him - not made to order. We had read good reviews so we were hoping dessert could save our meal. Unfortunately, all but three of their dessert options had trademark symbols next to the dessert name. When we asked why the desserts were trademarked, we found out that they order their desserts from another vendor and that the desserts were delivered to them frozen. At that point we opted for the bill. Maybe Nuovo was having a bad day, but we certainly won't be dining here again especially when Via Italian Table serves exceptional high-quality food for the same prices right across the street. I hope Nuovo takes notice before it is too late that while we were one of six tables dining there on a Saturday night, Via Italian Table had an hour plus wait. Nuovo has everything they need to be equally as successful - nice restaurant space, good servers, and a good menu. They just need a chef who cares about the food they send out and start making their food to order. read more

An outstanding Italian restaurant in an area with many great restaurants. The service was exceptional and the ambiance was like eating at a family dinner. The owners were out greeting guests that they knew. Many very different dishes on the menu along with some classics. Shrimp scampi over linguini was excellent as was the veal parm, although the serving was easily enough for two! Valet parking is complimentary and reservations are accepted. I was pleasantly surprised with how good the food was! When my family pulled up to the restaurant, the outside was nothing special. It looked a bit bland and I was not expecting much. The inside though, was very pleasant and looked very nice. The waitress was nice and she made sure we got everything we needed. The food was excellent. I got a pork shank(cannot remember exactly what it was called) but it was fall off the bone tender and tasted great! Even the side dishes that came with it were good. I also got a plate of truffle fries and they had the right amount of truffle flavor in them. I have the flourless chocolate cake dessert sitting in my fridge right now(too stuffed to eat it at the restaurant) but I know it will be good! ^_^ read more

overpriced, and ubderehelming. the plates took a looong time to arrive, and everyone's meal was lukewarm. the famed apple crisp dessert was neither crispy nor hot. we had to take the 8:30pm reservation, and we DEFINITELY got the "it's the end of the night" service and food quality. the defining moment: the menu says "garlic mashed with parmesan and spinach". when the food finally came, it was plain white mashed. barely any parmesan, and no spinach. when I asked the waitress, she said, "oh, that must have been a type-o" (all four of us read the same type on four different menus. go spend a couple hundred dollars in some of the other, better restaurants that Worcester has to offer. read more

Went here on date night with my Fiancé. Our server Parris was remarkable. She provided excellent suggestions and recommendations from the menu, wine list and cocktail list. I sampled two different cocktails. Both were quite unusual and very good. The appetizer was delicious aNd our meals were everything we could want. I highly recommend. My boyfriend and I came to Nuovo on opening night - what a pleasant surprise! You'd think it had been open forever -- it felt very comfortable and there was a good crowd but no wait. We sat at the bar and ordered cocktails - the blueberry lemonade is delish. Our bartender Tim (best bartender in the world) offered us bread & dipping oil -- the dipping oil was great, especially since they have grated cheese you can put in the oil. I would have liked a warm artisinal bread or a roll; what the restaurant currently offers is more like an almost-sliced-into-several-pieces mini loaf. I'm splitting hairs here, obviously the bread wasn't bad or I wouldn't have eaten four servings of it... The drinks were fantastic and the service was superb. The atmosphere is a nice combination - there is a separation between the front room and dining room. The front room has low, cafe-style tables and views of the two large tv's. The bar is black granite in a modern-but-warm design palate. The back room is the official dining room and is more intimate and dimly lit. As far as the fare - the menu has a variety of options, really I think there is something everyone will love, and a late-night bar menu for those who just want to sit and have a few cocktails and a light snack while watching a game. The prices are a bit on the high side if you're used to chain-dining, brew city, or some of the other local eateries. If you're comparing to other local Italian -- it's right on the money. About $17-$25 for the average meal, which is generally what you'll pay for Italian anywhere you go besides Bertucci's. We didn't come for dinner opening night -- which is why I just couldn't put a 5th star; gotta eat the FOOD at an Italian restaurant before you can make an accurate call! -- but we are heading back this weekend to try it out and hopefully award that 5th star! read more

It's a nice place, calm and great service but the simple truth is I've only ever liked the appetizers food-wise. As for a main course, well I have eaten there a few times and never really had a satisfying main course. At least twice I had to send my food back for being undercooked. But the manager was always quick to try to help, so definitely credit for that. But really, not a fan. read more

I've tried Nuovo a few times as a first-stop before heading out for the evening for a glass/bottle of wine and appetizer. One stop we sat outdoors during beautiful weather and had the Coconut Shrimp with Riesling and it was great. On a second occasion I tried Fettuccine Alfredo and it was good though wait a bit longer than anticipated. In the past they would have someone playing the piano, and though space may have been as issue, it seems he is relegated currently to playing on a synthesizer; not quite as refined. Dinner for three on Saturday, 4/21/12. We did not have a reservation and they were quite full but found a table for us. Very friendly, family owners. The menu had a large variety and the three of us split one salad for two, a salmon entree, and a pasta entree. They were very good about us sharing the meals, which were plently and very flavorful. The pasta (puttanesca) was the best I've ever eaten - the salmon was very good and came with an outstanding ravioli side dish (I'm not sure what was in the ravioli but they were excellent). The only downside was the waiter who, although quite friendly, was missing in action alot of the time and very slow to bring drinks, etc. Two drink orders went by the way, although one of the owners came through checking on tables and made the coffee we ordered appear at our table immediately, Great place to go if you like a slow paced meal with no one hurrying to empty your table. Very good Italian restaurant in Worcester. Definitely better than the other Italian restaurants in the area like Mare e Monti. It has a small and quieter dining area and a louder bar and lounge eating area. Very nice and funny waitresses. The Chicken Saltimbocca was amazing! Just had dinner at Nuovo. Very disconcerting the way we were treated by the hostess (and owner in our understanding). It was a Thursday, not busy, and we were seated for a special occasion, with a reservation, in a tight little corner that would never be big enough for 2 people to eat dinner. Not to mention we were less than 2 feet away from another party. We asked to sit at a table for 2 by the window instead, and were told that they don't have any spare table tonight and they implied there was nowhere else to sit. So we opted to sit at the bar instead. 2 hours passed and that table by the window, never got filled. Not only did it not get filled, there were many empty tables where they could have sat us instead of that awful corner table that nobody should ever have to sit at. It was very clear while watching the 2 owners that they paid more attention to the men in business suits than the young couple at the bar who asked for a nice seat for a special birthday. They were clearly keeping their "good" tables open for more important guests who may or may not show up. Restaurants like this should treat ALL of their customers equally, and although it was our first time there, we will not be returning after the age-ism we received because we were most likely perceived as a party who wouldn't spend a lot of money or who would not return. I was hoping to LOVE this place and for it to be our new spot in Worcester. However, I would have rather spent my birthday across the street at VIA, where I know I would get a good meal and would be treated fairly. As for the food, the vodka sauce tasted like it came from a jar. My fiancé had the chicken parm which was good but not great, pretty bland. We also had 2 apps- the calamari and the truffle fries. Also not the best we've ever had. The only saving grace was the bartender, T, who was attentive and enthusiastic. We had our wedding rehearsal dinner/welcome party upstairs at Nuovo in August of 2022 which included almost 100 people. We could not be happier with our choice!!! The food and drinks are excellent and the staff are so hard-working and friendly. The owners are phenomenal and genuinely care about the happiness and satisfaction of their guests. We discussed our vision for the evening with Loreta in advance and she sure did help us achieve it. We had our own bar and servers, as well as a solo live singer we hired who they were easily able to accommodate. Loreta was incredibly responsive, kind, helpful, and patient. My family and I have also had dinner here and we just can't say enough about how wonderful our several experiences have been. We will absolutely make the trip to Worcester to go back. I have been here twice so far & both times was very happy with everything about the restaurant. Both times I sat in the bar area tables which is very cozy w the brick walls & cute candle lit tables. The food both times was amazing! My brother got the chicken parm which was melt in your mouth delicious & I got the chicken Marsala which was perfectly seasoned & cooked. Both meals came w a small dinner salad which was great! They give u dinner rolls & a oil/garlic dipping sauce when u sit down which was soooooo good! The bread was hot n fresh right out of oven! This last time I went with a few girlfriends for my birthday dinner & don't have one complaint; the waitress was great & the all around service was awesome! We got pitchers of the white peach sangria which was so fresh & yummy tasting we got a few pitchers, the bread was as good as I remembered & we shared the caprese salad which was seasoned perfectly & it was probably the best caprese salad I've had in a long time! I got the chicken scaloppine for my dinner which was melt in your mouth good! Perfect balance of flavors & the cheese raviolis that came on side actually went perfect with the chicken & flavors! We went last Saturday, and made reservations for 5:15. We were immediately seated. The dining room had maybe had 4 other tables of diners but quickly filled up, which made it get noisy very quickly. My husband ordered the appetizer special, baked brie with fig sauce on a crustini, which we shared and was so good he almost ordered a second one. We also shared an antipasto which was wonderful and fresh also. For dinner he ordered the steak which was done perfectly and was served with mixed vegetables. I chose the chicken saltimboca which was served with cheese ravioli and was both tasty and just the right portion. We both chose to upgrade our salads to the ceasar salads and they were again fresh not overly dressed and a perfect portion. All in all it was a nice evening, we enjoyed talking with the couple at the table next to us, and convinced them to try the baked brie, which they loved too. read more

Nice little Italian place. Went on a Saturday night. The hostess was cheerful and seated us right away on our reservations ( we were early). We ordered bruschetta for our appetizer. The tomatoes were super fresh and the bread was light and toasty. Perfect. For entrees we ordered the linguine carbonara and the sirloin with warm bean salad and rice. The linguine was creamy and cooked perfectly. The beef didn't have much flavor which was disappointing. The rice was cheesy and creamy. Paired with the beans it made the beef tolerable. No desert, too full :) prices are typical of neighboring restaurants: via, 111... there was a function upstairs so it was loud but we didn't mind. Good place for a function. I really wanted to like this place since it has great atmosphere and location but the entire experience was disappointing. Was there on a Sat night so it was busy - the server took forever to bring us our wine and then everything was delayed after The entire meal took 2.5 hours which was outrageous. The server came to tell us that they were over capacity upstairs and he was able to comp us a dish because of the wait. I am not positive about the whole upstairs/ downstairs scenario but apparently upstairs is the priority for the servers. When our food did arrive after 2 hours of waiting it was cold as if it had been sitting awhile and the risotto was undercooked. In the future I will stick to LaScala on Shrewsbury St which is superior in every way. read more

I have been here once and the food was fine, but nothing mind blowing. The special appetizer of fig with fried goat cheese was pretty good (7-8), the coconut shrimp was ok also (6-7). The chicken saltimbocca was tasty (7) but not amazing. The rib eye was definitely overcooked but my husband is not one to send back food so he just tolerated it. It was ordered medium and came out distinctly well done (fully brown inside, not a hint of pink). Our waitress was extremely friendly and sweet although I have to say that she did check on us a LOT, lol. Also the manager came by to check on us which was nice. The live music was a really nice touch and the huge windows in the front lounge open fully to the street which gives a nice ambiance. read more

Although it seemed like there was nothing special on the menu, my family and I had pretty good meals. Due to medical problems I had to watch for salt intake, and my waitress was very aware of it. We had a really nice dinner at Nuovo tonight. We had a reservation, the hostess was friendly and seated us promptly. Our server, Brandon, was very friendly and attentive, but did not hover. He knew the menu and specials and made recommendations when asked. He had a great sense of humor and took great care of us! There were four of us. We let our server recommend an appetizer and went with the warm brie which was one of several specials. It was delicious! We all had salads prior to our entrees. They were fine..... green salads or Caesar, no surprises there. I had the Salmone alla Griglia and it was fantastic. The fish was cooked perfectly and it came with a medley of fresh veggies and their Ortega rice. You have to try this rice! Two others in our party had the Chicken Saltimbocca and raved about it and the forth member of our party had the Penne alla Giardiniera which was also very good. There were several great looking desserts to choose from as well as some dessert specials. I had a bite of my friends pistachio cheesecake......delicious! Parking can be tough here, but they offer complementary valet so it's super simple. We had a great experience from start to finish and I truly hope to get back to Nuovo soon! read more

Went to dinner last night with a friend of mine. We had reservations and when I arrived about 15 minutes early, they sat me right away even though the rest of my party wasn't there yet. The hostess gave me a choice of seats, and I chose a table at the front of the restaurant near the window...nice and bright on a nice spring night. Our server was excellent! Not rushing us at all, and giving suggestions when asked. I ordered the Caesar salad to start and my friend had the caprese salad. Both were excellent. Fresh, hot rolls with olive oil were served as well. For our entrees, I ordered the drunk pasta (penne a la vodka) and my friend ordered salmon Americano. Both dishes were excellent. Very generous portion sizes and more than enough for us to each bring home a portion for our lunches the next day. For dessert, I ordered the chocolate bombo, which was not on the menu, and my friend ordered the tiramisu. The bombo was delicious - not too heavy. Chocolate and vanilla gelato with a layer of crushed cinnamon almonds between the two. During dessert, I ordered a meal to go at the last minute for my husband, and by the time we were done with our dessert, the meal was ready for me to take home. About halfway through the meal, the chef/owner came by to see if everything was ok and if we liked our meals. We were very impressed by the service we received and the atmosphere. We (party of 6) made reservations here as part of a promotion the restaurant has with the Hanover Theater for the Performing Arts - 10% off and a free appetizer. So, they knew we had a deadline. Arrived at 6 pm in plenty of time (we thought) to get to the 8:00 performance . Seated at 6, ordered by 6:20. Still hadn't been served by 7:00, checked with the server who said it should be right out. Server came over 15 minutes later and said the food was being "plated," which I took to mean was being put on plates. Ten minutes later food arrived (wow, it takes a long tome to "plate" food here. Now it is 7:25. Wolf down food, leave and get to our seats at the theater just as the show is starting. It seems to me that if this restaurant is doing a promotion with a theater, they should be able to get people fed and to the theater with a little more than five seconds to spare. Food seemed average although I didn't really have time to enjoy it. portions were small, which is, I guess, a good thing in this case. read more
