Bruschetta
Melissa V.

My husband recently picked Nuovo for his birthday dinner. It was our first time here. We arrived shortly after opening on a Saturday afternoon and were seated at a very small table for 2 near the back. First of all we noticed most tables had a light over each one and ours didn't which made it very difficult to read the menu (thank goodness for phone flashlights!), we ordered drinks (husband was disappointed in the beer selection) and appetizers. For our appetizers he picked the mussels which he thought were good, but mentioned the place across the street makes the best mussels. I ordered bruschetta and I was surprised how little bread they served with it (there were 4 little pieces of bread) as I thought there would be plenty of the 2 of us. The bruschetta was delicious though. For our meals he ordered lasagna which he thought was very good and I ordered the eggplant parmigiana which was delicious and I had plenty left over to take home for another meal. For dessert we ordered the tiramisu which was good. All in all it was a very good meal, but nothing really stood out.

looking for a new italian restaurant in worcester, decided to try nuovo based on reviews; not the best choice. first, we arrived at 6 for our reservations, we were pleasantly greeted by the hostesses & seated by the window on a rainy day. kelvin was our server, and he was friendly & accommodating. we started with cocktails, including the nuovo fling and the perfect manhattan, which were both very weak and unsatisfying. nuovo fling was at least sweet, but definitely avoid cocktails here if you rarely have them, and like to enjoy them when you do. the wine list was also weak, and i ordered the pinot grigio which was extremely sweet, and my date ordered the illuminati, where his family is from, and he was not impressed. for our appetizer, we ordered the bruschetta based on kelvin's recommendation and it was the best part of our meal. not the best we've tried, but the best plate of our evening. it could have included two more small bread slices to go with the large portion of tomatoes, although it did taste great. no bread service offered. for our meals, i was happy to see nuovo scallops on their specials menu, and my date ordered chicken parm. i was able to replace the sun-dried tomato risotto with ortega rice, which i think went great with the scallops, however, the dish did not taste like a special. i didn't love how they were prepared, although not bad, could have had a nice crisp searing. they served a large portion of rice with the six reasonably sized scallops, but i felt it was overcompensating. the specials came with a house salad, priced at $5 on the menu, and i asked for a caesar salad instead, listed at $6 on the menu, which i assumed would be a $1 up charge since it came with the house salad. kelvin did offer the house salad with caesar dressing and said there would be an up charge, but i assumed the up charge would be $1. we were charged $6. they assembled the caesar with dressing on top, so i had to mix it myself, and felt the pieces could have been cut smaller, but i am happy they didn't overload it with croutons. if a dish comes with a $5 salad, and you want a different one listed at $6, i think the up charge should have been $1, and it was misleading for an "ok" salad. i tried the chicken parm, and we both felt the sauce was entirely too sweet, penne was slightly overcooked, chicken was just okay, and fresh parmesan was not available. while they have a nice selection of desserts, based on our meal we decided to pass. cocktails 2.6/10 wine list 2/10 bruschetta 7/10 caesar salad: 4.5/10 scallops 4.5/10 chicken parm 5.6/10 the service at nuovo is great & prompt, but the food & wine list could use some work. we assumed this would be good based on reviews, and it being across from one eleven chop house, but sadly will not likely return. if you are a foodie, don't be surprised. ambiance: 3/5 food: 2.7/5 drinks: 2.3/5 service: 4.2/5 nuovo: 3/5

' When food is your drug of choice, it's best to be the dealer.' Nuovo is an Italian dealer! Two times- I have been to Nuovo TWO TIMES and it's dependably good! I am not going to lie I have had the same food (pretty much both times) and I just want more! Let me tell you more: Reservations: Easy to make online (for a table of 8 or 3, it's been easy both times.) The Restaurant: it's dark and elegant inside but not too elegant that you feel out of place in jeans! It has set a mood and I like it! The Staff: Both times- super engaging and nice. The bartender was great at giving suggestions. The food: Bread with oil and balsamic garlic dipping sauce: Love me some balsamic! Thank you! Arancini balls- not the best I have ever had but appreciate the size (like a large meatballs) and like the two sauces (it's red and maybe a vodka sauce? Cooked to perfection. Caprese Burrata: THE FRESHEST TOMATOES! I love burrata and balsamic so this is just a HUGE win here! Carbonara: The real star and reason I wanted to go back. Good portion, pancetta cooked perfectly and a plenty! Creamy! Pasta cooked to perfection. The flavor is just what my taste buds like. This dish is amazing! 5 Yelp stars along for this dish.

Salmon Atlantico

This is our special date night spot. We've never had anything bad and the Salmon Atlantico dish is one of the best seafood dishes I've ever had!

When I'm in Worcester this is one of my family's go-to's. In Connecticut I'm a little spoiled with amazing Italian food so for me it's meh. I do love their meatballs. I have tried the chicken piccata it's pretty good. I've ordered the chicken Caesar salad before, had a funny taste, didn't finish the chicken. Nothing exceptional. But by far the most disturbing was this "filet mignon" special. First of all, they're trying to pass this off as actual filet mignon, you can tell by looking at it it's not. And no chef would ever cut filet mignon into 3oz medallions- so I should've known better. Was so fatty, tasted like chuck/stew meat. I kept trying to salvage some of it but it was so chewy I just kept spitting it out. The cognac sauce was good however whatever the mashed potatoes were seasoned with did not pair with the sauce at all. It tasted sour or spoiled. Didn't eat those either. As far as the presentation it speaks for itself; however this was a take-out order so I don't hold high standards on appearance. Also pictured was the eggplant Parm, on a positive note my mother did enjoy it though it was an extremely small portion for dinner ($21, pasta is extra). I have ordered the vegetables as a side dish before, very small portion (came in pint container 1/2 full) for $10 but tasty. Greek salad was good, if I remember correctly they make their own dressing. While this place would not be my choice, my family does like it so I'm going to stick with the meatballs next time.

I fought the urge to choose a restaurant I know and love for our farewell dinner with work friends and instead decided to sample Nuovo before our departure. Fortunately, the group was in agreement because who is disappointed at the prospect of a plate full of pasta? I made a reservation for 7:15pm on a Wednesday and we probably didn't need one in retrospect but I like to play it safe. Right out of the gate, the service was great. Due to the staggered nature of the party's arrivals, our poor server had to introduce himself about 3 times but he had a great attitude. They have a solid drink menu with multiple options that speak to me. I settled on the coconut margarita and as a whore for anything coconut flavored, I really enjoyed this drink. It was definitely on the sweeter side, which I like, but if that isn't your thang I might recommend another cocktail. I subsequently ordered the grapefruit prosecco, which tastes as you would expect. Finally, I ordered an aperol spritz which was lovely and refreshing in the summer. Typically after 3 drinks I would be like bathing in an alcohol pool but on this occasion, not quite as much as I would expect after 3 drinks? Blame it on the carbs... One of the things that I loved about our dining experience is that our server didn't rush our asses whatsoever. We really wanted to relish the evening and our server asked for our orders one course at a time, allowing us to really draw the fuck out of it and enjoy each other's company. For our first course, we decided to share an order of arancini, coconut shrimp, and fig mascarpone. The arancini are 2 huge arancini balls, it says "stuffed green peas, deep fried, and a side of marinara sauce". This was IT. They were so crispy on the outside and tasted creamy and luscious on the inside. I would beg to differ on the peas part, as someone who is obsessed with peas my expectation may have been too high, but I didn't really notice them. Regardless, they were delicious. I do not eat seafood so cannot personally comment on the shrimp but I heard very good things, even from GF who is not usually a shrimp bitch. Unfortunately, we couldn't order the fig mascarpone because they were out of figs, to the big disappointment of one of my dining partners who was really looking forward to that shit. I considered ordering a salad to keep the pipes moving but something about how similar all of the salads on the menu seem changed my mind. Instead, I added a side order of broccoli to main order penne alla giardiniera which the server kindly helped me pronounce lmao. Both the drunk ziti and eggplant parm were on back up in case they couldn't accommodate my request of NO ONIONS but, to my delight, everything is made to order. At least, that's what I took from the server's response that I can "have anything I want". The pasta dish, penne with zucchini, summer squash, tomatoes, and spinach sauteed in olive oil, garlic, and a white wine sauce, was flavored wonderfully and provided a hefty portion of pasta. The pasta had a bit of a bite, but I would have preferred a touch more al dente. The broccoli was also enjoyable. Dining companions ordered one of their specials, pappardelle with shrimp and scallops, tortellini con funghi, and fettucine alfredo with broccoli and chicken. I heard nothing but rave reviews from those broads. Maybe we just drink too fast but on a couple occasions I had finished my drink and placed it on the edge of the table to draw attention to the fact that I would like to order a drink, without being asked. I would also like to add that the server MADE FUN of me for ordering a side of broccoli because I was ordering too many vegetables. I hate to think about how constipated someone is if adding a side of broccoli to a dish with vegetables is thought to be "too many vegetables". Anyways, this was a solid Italian spot on Shrewsbury St.

I had grandparents who lived off of Shrewsbury St. for many years starting when they arrived here from Italy in the 1920's. So, our history runs deep in this area. Nuovo was a wonderful find on Shrewsbury St in Worcester. we made reservations online with no problem at all. Arrival was easy with Valet parking right next to the building. Our table was ready and we sat right way. First up was beverages: 1. House water - as expected it tasted like Worcester water. So, we bought bottled water instead. No big deal at all 2. Cocktails - Linda got the Nuovo mojito which she loved and I got a Bombay Sapphire Martini, up, with twist. You will see a picture of my martini after a few sips. These drinks were quite small for the 12$ each price tag. Appetizer was Fig mascarpone in filo dough. Nice dish. Salad was wonderful. we got the Cesar salad. Fresh, crisp, and nice dressing. Main Course: 1.Linda opted for the Lobster meat and tail Mac and Cheese. Loaded with lobster. She said it was a good choice for her. 2. I went for the cioppino which was loaded. Came with a red sauce (Gravy) which was delightful. Not spicey! Did not come with bread to soak up the gravy. Had to ask for it. No big issue, the bread came out right away Staff responsiveness was very good. We had Michelle as our head waiter who was fun to talk to and was very efficient. The owners, Loretta and her husband Alex (head chef) separately stopped by our table to say hello. Nice touch since they were looking for any feedback that would make our experience better. And there were none. The pictures I took are later in the courses. I apologize for having these pics, but it may still give you an idea of the quality of the menu offerings. Linda and I would certainly return to this cozy, high quality restaurant.

We stopped in at this family owned and run Italian restaurant in Worcester for restaurant week. We were immediately sat by a friendly hostess and then handed a huge menu with so many choices. Our waiter was attentive and friendly. We were there for restaurant week and so we went off that wedding menu. Wife had the Eggplant Rotini, a delicious eggplant light battered and served in a homemade sauce, I had the bruschetta, also a delicious delight. For our main course wife went with the Pappardelle Bolognese, a hearty homemade pasta dish with plenty of meat, but what made the dish was the amazing sauce. I had the Chicken Francaise with risotto. The risotto was good and the chicken nice and thin with a sauce that complimented it. Bar menu offered a good variety of wines, as well as beer on tap and some signature cocktails. As we were eating the owner stopped by our table and made sure everything was to our liking. A very nice and attentive chef who was proud of his food. There was also some live music in the bar area, with a casual but talented singer

If you are looking for a great meal and a wonderful experience... go have dinner at Nuovo in Worcester and sit at the bar! We have eaten here many times, but we now eat exclusively at the bar because of their bar tender, "T". He is an absolute class act human being. He pays attention, treats you like family... is charismatic, funny, and charming... the food is amazing and the atmosphere is lovely. Do yourself a favor and go out for dinner!!!!

My wife and I had a nice private table by the bar. Food was excellent. Service was good. Our waitress was fun. The timing of the drinks was a little off with the food and the drinks seemed a little small but everything was delicious. The special muscles were honestly some of the best muscles I've ever had in my life, served with a Dijon mustard sauce. I also had a perfectly cooked medium rare rack of lamb. Well seasoned vegetables and creamy mashed potatos. I would definitely visit again.

Unfortunately no.

This restaurant was advertised at this weekend's Albanian festival as being an Albanian restaurant. Do they offer any Albanian food, apart from that one appetizer with liver?

The Chef-Owner is Albanian. There are 2-3 Albanian dishes on the regular menu. However for a festival I'm sure he's got lots of authentic ethnic dishes planned. His food is… Read more

Mare E Monti - Exceptional Authentic Italian & Seafood Pasta Spot in Worcester, MA…read more Mare E Monti is an exceptional Italian gem -- probably home to the best seafood pasta I've ever had. I was in town ahead of a half marathon near Hampton Beach on Sunday. After a long drive and a surprise call that my extended family was touring the East Coast nearby, we decided to meet halfway -- and Worcester made perfect sense. I booked a table for eight at 8 PM on Saturday. We miscounted our party, which led to about a 45-minute wait, but honestly, that just gave us more time to catch up. The interior strikes a lovely balance -- rustic yet modern, cozy yet romantic, and unmistakably Italian in feel. Starters We kicked off with two plates of Calamari Fritti -- classic native calamari, lightly fried and tossed with cherry peppers and a delicate butter sauce. Absolutely delicious; I had to restrain myself from finishing the whole plate. Complimentary garlic bread with olive oil was also served, and I stopped myself at 2-3 slices to save room for the race-fueling carbs to come. For salad, I chose the Insalata Casalinga -- crisp field greens, grape tomatoes, julienne carrots, cucumbers, red onion, and imported olives in a light vinaigrette. Simple, fresh, and highly recommended. The Main Event The real reason I chose Mare E Monti was simple: carb loading. I went with the Pasta con Cozze e Fagioli -- sautéed mussels in a garlic white wine sauce with diced tomatoes and cannellini beans, tossed with linguine. It was everything I'd hoped for: flavorful yet light, satisfying without being heavy. The mussels were tender, the beans added substance, and the pasta was perfectly cooked. Others at the table tried the Ravioli di Aragosta (lobster ravioli) on my recommendation. I snagged a bite -- and it was heavenly. Rich, delicate, and beautifully balanced. Final Thoughts Dinner here was the perfect pre-race meal -- nourishing without weighing me down. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, the service attentive, and the food consistently excellent. Even parking was simple; I found easy street parking just around the corner (though valet is also available). Oh, and the next morning? I ran a personal best in my half marathon -- just over 1 hour and 20 minutes. I'd like to think the perfect plate of pasta helped fuel that finish. All in all, Mare E Monti is a must-visit for anyone craving authentic Italian cuisine and standout seafood pasta in the Worcester area. I'll absolutely be back next time I'm in Massachusetts. I usually take reviews of Italian restaurants very lightly in Massachusetts because if you use a…read morelarge restaurant review site to find suggested Italian restaurants in most cities, Buca de Beppo and Olive Garden usually make their filthy little way into the top 10, eroding all my trust in that site. (... and humanity) Case in point, most of the Italian dishes being reviewed by diners in cities like Worcester as 'very authentic' are fairly foreign to actual restaurants in Italy. There is TRUE Italian food and American Italian food (classic 'red sauce' joints) I will never besmirch a good classic red sauce joint like Dan Tanas, Rao's or even some of the Federal Hill joints. There is a place in the culinary pantheon for amazing spaghetti meatballs and veal parm ... however 'authentic Italian' they are not. What we got at Pasta Mani is TRUE Italian. In fact, we ate here not more than 2 weeks after coming back from Italy and I can honestly say that we enjoyed our meal here (from a taste perspective) more than many of the restaurants in Italy we ate at. (One with a Michelin star!) This chef's philosophy here is one embraced in Italy ... simple, fresh, cooked with care. The reason tourists go to Italy and geek out over the food is because we've grown up eating Italian food here which is good ... but not made with the same level of passion. Eating a dish of spaghetti carbonara in Italy vs. the US is like listening to the Beatles for the first time on vinyl, in mono! It's hard to find a chef with the knowledge and respect for the ingredients that are displayed here. The servers are knowledgeable about the menu. She was not afraid to make recommendations. She knew the dish's ingredients as well as the chef ... and she was as friendly as could be. The accompanying beer and wines matched the menu perfectly and also were mostly Italian. The menu offers not a lot of choices ... but there is something for everyone. It's not heavy on meat ... but nor are menus in Italy. Maybe a reason why folks over there are not often over 6 feet tall or 200 lbs. vs. many Americans whose 4 major food groups are bacon, burgers, chicken nuggets and occasionally lobster rolls. We had the octopus, which was done perfectly ... the flavors were spot on and the chef clearly knew taste profiles as well as technique. Watermelon and octopus! Who knew? He did. We had the peach pesto cavatelli pasta and the pasta Amatricana with pancetta. Both were amazing ... the favors combined so effortlessly but perfectly. Red pepper flakes, pine nuts, grease from the bacon, tomatoes. It was all just so ... great! All the pasta was perfectly homemade ... and available for purchase as takeaway. Before we knew it, we were regrettably too full for dessert. The chef came out of the kitchen, where 80's and punk music was blasting, and you could watch the cooking happen, to greet us. He had worked in some of Seattle's better Italian restaurants and apparently learned a thing or two. If he had said he worked in Napoli, Sorrento or Rome for many years, we'd have believed it! The only thing we weren't in love with was the actual 'food hall' setup which felt a bit industrial for our liking. But, it was oddly cool and comfortable in a Momofuku type of way. This chef and his team deserve a restaurant. 5 seats and a chef's table are too small for the talent level. This was one of the best Italian meals I've had outside Italy or NYC. In Worcester, near a ballpark ... go figure. We also noticed that everything in the 'restaurant' was spotlessly clean ... and I mean spotless! We'll be back for sure. Places like this that don't serve a fried brick of chicken smothered in cream sauce and melted cheese and call it Italian are few and far between in Central Massachusetts. A great vibe, a great staff, a great meal! If ya know ... ya know.
