McComb's was recommended by close friends. I cannot say enough about the personal and professional care our family received. Though our Dad lived a full life of 92-years, we were not ready to let him go. The suddenness of his passing was also a big shock. When my brother and I went to finalize arrangements for his cremation, we were met by loving staff who actually knew our family and my Dad's many years of community service as a valued local physician. Throughout the process, the staff guided us gently and with great respect through dealing with placing local obituaries, helping quickly create a beautiful online tribute page, choosing final arrangements and facilitating needed paperwork with the local coroner to obtain an expedited death certificate. In Sept. 2021 I, my brother and my sister drove to Bell Monument in Cairo, IL which we had found on…read morethe internet to order a headstone for our mother's grave which is located in Charleston, MO. We chose this business because it offered reasonable cost and was close to the gravesite. We told them what we wanted, they drew out a diagram we approved, and we paid and left to wait until it was delivered and set up about 10 weeks later. In the spring my sister went to take photos of the headstone and sent them to myself and my brother. When I saw the photo, I was shocked. They changed the stone ( we ordered gray granite, they used pink granite. A free upgrade they generously gave us, they said.) NOTHING on the stone was centered as we expected. Our mother's name, dob and date of death were in a letter box all the way over near the right edge. Her photo, which was supposed to be floating on the right side of the letterbox, was perched right on top of it looking like an oval egg about to roll off a table. A dove that was supposed to be floating on the left of the letterbox level with the photo took up a large part of the left space left by the letterbox being jammed way over to the right and a phrase, Walking With The Lord, which was supposed to be centered under the letterbox, started even with the Dave's tail and ended about 2 inches short of the right edge of the letterbox. And the border (blank space) on the right side is only about 1/2 that on the left side. The whole piece just looks awful. See photo below. They made these changes without contacting us or attempting in any way to get our approval. They just delivered it and left it there that way. Now another Monument company has told us that this Monument was one that sells for $950 and we were charged $1550. I most certainly cannot recommend this company.

They were able to schedule the visitation and service when we wanted, even had a record of my father-in-law's funeral, so we were able to do similar things with hers. At the actual burial, they had set up a tent to shield us from the weather, laid fake grass mats so we could walk without getting muddy or slipping, and then even had blankets for the women in the group who wore skirts/dresses and were cold, which was very much appreciated with my southern blood that can't handle the cold. Ideally, I would love to not visit again (because that would mean someone else had passed), but do know we are in good hands!
