It's hard to believe that the suburb of Nundah, only 8km from the central CBD was once considered outside of the town of Brisbane and was actually farming land. A small burial ground was established back in the 1860's and today this is the site of the Nundah Historical Cemetery.
The cemetery, previously known as the German Station Cemetery, contains the graves of many German Missionaries, Queensland's first free settlers and their families.
The oldest remaining headstone is from 1855. The cemetery has been full for many years and there are no new burials there, and it's open for the public to visit.
