Numbers Crunchers gets the job done. Nothing fancy, but why should it be? Once upon a time I was able to navigate the tax form quagmire on my own until that first time I found myself keeping a dictionary nearby to look up a common English word in the hopes there was some obscure definition that when the word was used in that context, would unlock the madness. Who writes these forms anyway? Thanks Torquemada. A twisted version of your legacy lives on. Number Crunchers is a one-woman shop, or perhaps a one-family shop might be a more apropos description. Melody, the boss, does the tax returns, but is assisted by the accountants (who are likely CPAs by now) who also happen to be family, or soon-to-be-family. When you walk in, the first person you'll see might be her husband/office manager. Numbers Crunchers is thorough, delivers the work when promised, and because it's a small business, will only accept a certain number of clients in order to be certain to deliver the best service. Like most things in NC, Numbers Crunchers is higher in price than its counterparts from other states in my experience, but compared with other tax preparers in the area, Numbers Crunchers pricing is reasonable and there won't be any hidden charges for the basic tax returns. read more

There was no regard for the customer. We had sent her are documentation she requested and never heard back from them. Three months later we asked her for an update and she explained she had yet done our taxes for she never received documentation she requested. When we forwarded her the email proving we had sent her requested items her narcism got the best of her. Instead of apologizing she said it was our fault for not contacting her to make sure she received our email. read more

Stay away. Melody and/or her team told me that they filed my taxes and sent me confirmation. I even had the amounts sent to me that I owed federal and state- I submitted those payments and they were accepted. Melody also accepted my payment for filing my taxes. I came to find out 6 months later that my taxes had NOT been filed which compromised an in-process home purchase. Melody was able to get the taxes submitted (6 months after the deadline), but refused to take responsibility and even threatened legal action after a couple of very reasonable emails back and forth where I asked for a refund citing her poor performance. A direct quote from Melody sums up what you might expect from her "Tax season is very busy and we can not be expected to remember to reach back out to each client..." Stay away. read more

I will never use this company again. We had been a faithful customer for 13 years and then they got too big to be personal anymore. They use to sit with you and go over your yearly taxes and would call you with questions. Well, that stopped. We asked not to email questions to us and to please call instead. Well, that never happened. Two years in a row they lost our W2's, they attached ours to someone else's and their copy to ours and one year they lost our copy. It was found in someone else's file...it took them awhile to find it. One year we took our college daughters taxes to them and they charge us a crazy price to do her return when the federal government doesn't charge anything for college students. read more

I did not have such a great experience with Number Crunchers. They did my 2013 individual tax returns and they weren't that professional, did not update me on the tax completion status, and it took over 3 months for them to complete my taxes, which were not that complicated.
