Their solution is to have a pipe sitting outside the entrance, which a bit pathetic in my opinion. It costs a fortune to smoke as well - you're better off going to somewhere exotic and trying it out for a fraction of the cost. They have managed to get something of a middle eastern feel to the place, with slightly garish orange pastel walls. I should declare my interests at this point. X replaced a favourite bar of mine, Oppo. Whilst I'm sure the new residents of this bar had nothing to do with Oppo closing down, I still sort of hold it against them. I suppose I should have a go at the pluses. It's got a pretty nice chilled out atmosphere, with people just here to kick back for a bit. The price aren't to bad for the area, and they probably have a slightly better range that when Oppo was here. So, not a bad bar, although I can't quite understand the point of a shisha lounge under current circumstances.

I think you can tell that the owners are foreign, there's something that feels very strange about the choice of decoration and low tables. Weird though it is, it's not a bad place either. Drinks aren't bank-breaking, there's a range of shisha pipes which can be smoked in the relatively cramped outdoor area and there's invariably plenty of seating room. The minimal decoration there is is loosely Eastern inspired, and while Niko's isn't ever going to be anyone's favourite bar it's a good place on Park Street to grab a chilled out drink late into the night. Provided you're not an agoraphobe that is - the overwhelming impression here is of emptiness, space and lots of it.

For this purpose, however, its City Road location isn't ideal, being busy and rather uninspiring. If you're going to inhale smoke from a water pipe, however, you can hardly get worked up over a few exhaust fumes - but the view could be better. I've recently noticed a sign on their window saying they have a rear garden, so that may be more pleasant for al fresco coffees and a smoke? Appealing to the local student population, Sahara also do baguettes and cold drinks.

There's terrace seating out front and a great garden out the back, as well as plenty of seating in the main café itself. The staff are really friendly, and all share a great sense of humour, making a night out here a pleasant and relaxing one. The Mediterranean food isn't half bad, and being supplemented with things like baguettes, there's something to suit everyone's tastes. This is definitely the place to chill and experiment with shisha if you are so inclined. I love the waft of strawberry flavoured tobacco that infuses the cool night air in the garden at the rear. Top marks to this friendly bunch of affable people... and because of their good nature I rate them the best shisha bar in town!

Additionally they have free wi-fi and you don't have to purchase a card like in Starbucks. There is a huge selection of paninis, coffees and smoothies, far more than the likes of Costas and Starbucks. However, they do not sell any filter coffee, just an Americano which I find quite irritating! The entire place is very nicely designed, with lots of drift wood and beach like decor. Additionally on the back wall there is a huge picture of a tropical beach which is nice to look at! I didn't, however, like the uni sex toilets, although they were clean. The prices are reasonable considering the location. Breakfast is only £1.75 for some beans on toast, and a full English is £4.50. Smoothies are roughly £2.90 and they also do a very nice frozen yogurt for £1.50

Here, I found the colourful backed beach type outdoor chairs made the vibe of this cafe trail out onto the street in front of it, which is a good thing. Walking in, it feels light and airy, with light coloured furniture, and a great Palm Beach type mural at the back of the cafe. A glance at the food, made me surprised that a cafe in the busy center caters alot for a gluten free diet. Every category of food here has a gluten free option. They do sandwiches, paninis, ciabattas and big salads. Their fillings are generous, and one's that I found interesting were brie & pear, roast chicken with vegetables, and a chunky meat feast! Cakes served here are brownies, lemon polenta cake, honeybuns (all these three are gluten free), and more traditional deserts like apple pie and cheesecakes. If you want something sweet after your food that's not a cake, they do freshly made smoothies, frozen yoghurt and ice cream too, where you can choose your toppings. A very breezy relaxing cafe, accentuated by its location right next to the river and that beach mural behind you.
