Being American and living over seas is a nightmare for taxes. I did my own taxes for several years…read moreand never could figure out if I was doing them properly. Unbelievable stress every year tax season came around. TurboTax just doesn't cut it for overseas filers, you're pretty much on your own. I threw up my arms and decided to find a company to do it. BritishAmericanTax is the third company I have used to do my taxes. I fired the last one after they made some mistakes and refused to fix them leaving me with a huge fine to sort out on my own. The first one was way too expensive and I swear that they had me paying more tax than I earned! BritishAmericanTax took over the job for me, managed to get my problems taken care of and has held my hand ever since. I will use this company until I die! These people are like pure gold. They are enthusiastic, professional, and know their stuff and they go to bat for you! They get to know you and the service is very personal, you almost feel like you're their only client. I can say after going through 3 different tax preparers, this one is by far hands down the best, so much so that I recommend them to all my overseas friends.

I did my taxes on Turbo Tax last year and got a hefty refund so I thought something must be wrong. Plus what's the deal with ISAs and other stuff? So I decided it was time to seek some professional help. I found BA Tax via my favorite Yankee expat site. Liz met me at a work space near Liverpool Street station and reviewed my return, told me some additional forms to fill out this year, answered some questions on both my U.S. and U.K. filings. She was easy to deal with and really was keen to help. She also gave me the green light to do my taxes again on TurboTax. The only problem is she charges £300/hour + VAT. The good thing is that she only charged me for 30 minutes. But peace of mind from the IRS was worth that price.

I've dealt with Ewelina there who is absolutely fantastic!! I'm self-employed and I call her up regularly in January, (every year I always think I'm going to be more organised and I never am) stressing about getting my tax return done and she calmly and efficiently sorts everything out for me. One time I left it to the 26th of January and she still did it. Cool company, professional, friendly and a lot cheaper than a tax assist company just round the corner from me. I thoroughly recommend Taxfile and look forward to seeing Ewelina again next January!
