This review is based solely on customer service at this establishment. The wares are beautiful and well curated, and although pricey, they're great pieces. But I was appalled with how I was treated by one of the employees there. I had been chatting with one of the owners, I think- Ariel? She was sweet as could be and shared my enthusiasm over an amazing eggplant wool dress and coat from the fifties. She told me the price and after admiring it I decided to try it on. By this time, Ariel had stepped out and another female employee stepped in. I remarked to her that it was so beautiful and I'd like to try it on, to which she sneered, very obviously looked me up and down, and said, "well, it only really fits a size 2...". Not that it makes any difference what size I am, but I'm between a 4 and 6 and was appalled at her rudeness. I asked the waist measurement (it was definitely larger than a 2) and she didn't know. When I said I'd like to give it a try, she scoffed and said, "well, it's $250, so don't force it". Excuse me?! How dare she say something like that! I'm not a child who is unaware of the delicacy of vintage clothing, and am not disillusioned about my size- I did try it on and it all fit except for the bust, because the waist was very high up on the dress and I have a long torso. The girl asked if it fit, and I told her the bodice was too short, and she replied that the original owner was very short and petite. That's what she should've told me about the size-I'm tall, around 5'9", and it would be very obvious it wouldn't fit if it was tailored for a short woman. Instead she made it about weight with her tone and comments. She then tried to get me to try on the original clothing line, saying it goes well with an "hourglass" shape, but I was so furious and embarrassed that I left. No one should be commenting on anyone's size, no matter how veiled, and to assume I would damage the garment? Uncalled for, unacceptable, and just plain mean. It was not said out of concern for the dress- it was malicious and very ill intended. I also felt like she was insinuating I couldn't afford it, anyway. I'll not return to be treated to poorly, and that's a shame, because this shop has potential. read more

I love it. Sweet selection of men's vintage, tons of interesting housewares and antiques, and a small, tight selection of women's vintage. However the most exciting bit is the original Earl Salko lines of clothes by Ariel, who is always there at the sewing machine and helping people find something. I bought a dress here after admiring the simple lines and unfussy design of a dress in the window. I didn't have time to try it on, and when it didn't look just right (too shiny for daytime wear) I brought it back and Ariel exchanged it for a more work-appropriate dress, no problem. Everyone who works here is super sweet and goes out of their way to help you in a non-intrusive manner. Joyously recommended to fans of vintage and super-simple, locally made clothes. read more

Just walked into Nostalgia for the first time today. It's a rad little shop! Definitely go here if you are a guy!!! There aren't a lot of women's clothes, except for "Earl Salko" - the brand designed by one of the owners. New clothes don't really excite me. But, since the market is over saturated with with women's vintage, it's nice to see the male perspective. Whoever stocks the menswear has a great eye and is right on trend. They have some funky cuff links and bolos, and lots of warm vests with that ever popular hipster/vintage/boho thing happening. Also, there's a nice selection of household and decorative items. Prices are great! Not a lot of merch in the store right now. And, as a former vintage store owner myself, I can say that less isn't always more in this business. However, what is there is choice. Nostalgia is a great shop for all sorts of unique finds. There are tons of gift ideas, consignment pieces, plus clothes & accessories designed by the owners & their friends. They didn't have the dress I wanted in my size, so the owner offered to make a custom fitted one for me instead. A week later, and I have one great looking (and fitting) dress! read more

Because everything Earl Salko is handmade by the owner (Arielle), she can really help you find something perfect for your body type and something that fits! This is a fabulous shop! The owners/designers are so talented and hand make much of the clothing and jewelry sold here. They also have lots of vintage accessories: beautiful shoes, bags, hats and more. The women's dresses are timeless, and absolutely beautiful. They flatter many shapes and sizes. I just bought my 4th Earl Salko dress, and absolutely love it! Customer service is excellent! Arielle, Rafael, and Danielle are so friendly, kind, and personable. I ordered a maxi dress last October from nostalgia styles, in November a mini dress arrived, I emailed them and they argued that a mini dress didn't come in that style. I sent them a photo, they were unapologetic and argumentative. They still haven't sent me the correct item of clothing and it's April. The mini dress that they did send was synthetic fabric and of very poor quality, they want me to send it back to them at my own cost without receiving the correct item. I would avoid this company at all costs, I doubt at this stage I will ever receive the correct item, I have spent $130 on nothing read more

I purchased one of her dresses and a pair of vintage shoes from the '40s... All of which I know I will have forever. Nostaglia is this awesome new shop in Headhouse District just off South Street. I happened upon the opening and was welcomed into a well-stocked shop by a few of the owners. The store is divided in two parts: There're some antiques up front that are more geared towards gentlemen. You'd easily find a unique and authentic gift for a friend -- anything from a nice vintage leather jacket to an actual peace pipe. Raf, one part of the team running this place, is not only a handsome devil (to be honest, I came into this place to flirt with him and was disappointed to find out he was dating one of the other owners), he's also really knowledgeable about all of the pieces in the store. In the back of the store, you'll find a line of clothing designed by one of the other owners, Arielle, as well as some upcycled vintage clothing that's been artfully tweaked, also by Arielle. There were some quality pieces your girlfriend would be happy to receive and wear forever. That is, if your boo is the kind of girl who is super sweet until she punches you in the face because you forgot to bring her home a bottle of whiskey with those Earl Salko jeans you just brought her. I guess I'm trying to say this all-American, rockabilly clothing line is for cute girls who aren't afraid to hold their own. Bonus points that it is all produced locally. read more
