History
Established in 2022.
Founded with a passion for holistic education and nature-based learning, Northwoods Forest School began as a vision to create a space where children and families could rediscover the joys of simplicity, community, and connection to the land. Inspired by the rich natural environment of Minnesota and the Scandinavian values of hygge and friluftsliv (open-air living), our school fosters a sense of wonder, belonging, and growth. Over the years, we’ve cultivated a thriving community of families who share our love for learning and connection.
Meet the Manager: Sara L.
Executive Director / Founder / Lead Guide
With a deep love for nature and a background in Waldorf education, I am passionate about creating a nurturing, safe, and inspiring space for every child. At Northwoods, I wear many hats—teaching, designing our spaces, and guiding children in discovering the magic of the natural world. Outside of Northwoods, you’ll often find me hiking, gardening, or exploring with my family, embracing the same values of simplicity and connection that we bring to our school.
