Our family has loved this practice/group for years. My complaint is with Mikael (billing/office manager). I did all the necessary protical prior to my daughters appt. Called insurance, they confirmed that the group is in network, called the office to schedule the appt, CONFIRMED INSURANCE info AGAIN, followed up prior to the appt. On the day of the appt. I hired a nurse to sit with my grandmother, pulled my daughter out of school, arrived 15 min early, filled out all the paperwork. Then told they "just stopped taking our insurance." Frantically i asked if they could use our Tricare insurance since my husband is a disabled combat veteran. I was told 1 Dr. Does take it but id need to reschedule. Long and the short i then gave my daughters secondary insurance which they agreed to take. The dr was great explained surgery options which we would need to discuss payments with Mikael (who NEVER called us). When i got home i contacted our insurance company to let them know that they are no longer in network. The insurance company insisted that they never notified them of that. Therefore, the insurance company would contact the podiatrist to give them a pre-authorization to cover the bill. When I called to follow up for my daughter's surgery and ask about the doctor that takes Tricare I was told that he no longer takes that insurance as well! I received a bill that they never submitted to the insurance company. I called and spoke to Abby who is very friendly and she said she will have Mikael resubmit the bill, that was only after she said that they submitted it to the insurance and they paid their portion, which was not factual! Then I received another bill with a condescending highlighted comment section from Mikael. I called several times only to be transferred back and forth. I stated to the woman at the Dekalb office that I'm very frustrated and I'm going to be friendly to her however I'm ready to strangle Mikael Thru the Phone from her ignorance in this matter (SMILING and laughing)!!!! She stated she completely understood my frustration and would have her return my call. Mikael called back: Rude, would not submit the pre-approved Bill to the insurance company and stated she will "write off the bill of $170.00 but will never see anyone from our family again!" Being that not only have we sent several people to their office there are seven people in our immediate family.... We have been regular, loyal, and she was too lazy to do her job and even inform the insurance companies that they will no longer take our insurances, including Tricare! She is AWFUL for the business.
