My dog had a TPLO a few years ago, $3500 for one knee, Within 1 year she had the other done but…read morethe cost was close to $6000 which I was not notified in advance (which they did confirm on their end as well). Their response was basically "oh well", or "you can take out a loan". I was disgusted. So unprofessional, disrespectful & degrading, like my concerns were dismissed. Poor, poor treatment.

Physician filing formal complaint over serious care concerns…read more I am a physician and the sole family doctor for the Port Elgin / Strait Shores region. My 5-month-old Maine Coon kitten, Mimi, was admitted here with refeeding syndrome, which developed following recovery from IMHA (immune-mediated hemolytic anemia). Refeeding syndrome is a critical but highly treatable condition when managed promptly with immediate IV phosphorus and IV thiamine. While IV phosphorus was started, IV thiamine -- an essential, lifesaving treatment -- was never given, despite the diagnosis being made and my repeated requests over 52 hours of hospitalization. The medical record shows no documented attempt to obtain it. Mimi did not survive. This was not an isolated issue. It was one of several serious concerns I observed during Mimi's two admissions that have raised grave doubts about the standard of care. In my professional and personal opinion, based on what I witnessed during Mimi's admissions, this clinic is not equipped to handle emergencies or inpatient care. A formal complaint is being filed with the appropriate veterinary regulatory body.
