As soon as you walk in the door this place screams character, the friendly staff are all decked out in braces and traditional 50's gear and the basic warehouse décor gives lane7 a real charm. Unfortunately we couldn't get booked in for bowling as Christmas parties dominated the lanes so we opted for an hour of pool on the slick American tables. For one hour we paid £12 which I feel is pretty reasonable. Lane7 offer a table service which means that you can focus on your sport of choice and not waste time queuing at the bar. The bar serves cocktails, spirits and draught beer including hipster drink of choice Brooklyn. They also do food with the restaurant set up like a dining hall. There's a really nice fun atmosphere in lane7, laughter is coupled with crashing ten pins and the back and forth of the ping pong balls. There are lots of options (including a chicken option) with various combinations of jalapenos, bacon, BBQ sauce and various toppings. We went with the west-coast style (ala In-n-Out, for Americans). It was good, but definitely needs to up its game with tomato slices and raw onion. The buns are also good - fluffy, dont fall apart, a hint of sweetness. One of the best burgers Ive had in Newcastle. Fries are thick-cut, but not wedges (Wendy's-style for all my Americans out there). Apparently they are fried or coated in beef drippings. Not sure I got that taste, but they were definitely good. Also tried the buffalo chicken wings, which although small, had a spot-on excellent buffalo flavor and were covered with bleu cheese and celery choppings (?). Cant complain there. Would definitely order again. Only a few beers on draft (we had Goose IPA), but plenty of options in bottles and cans. Also appear to have some nice homemade moonshine and other similar options. The ambiance is a little odd. The entrance is not super obvious and Meat:Stack is actually just food served out of a dark, loud-ish bar. I am not sure if this is the normal experience, because I think they also have a stall in the Grainer Market? Maybe they just serve their food in the bar when the market is closed at night. Apparently there was a "problem with the kitchen", which meant we had to wait a very long time for our food. However upon closer inspection the problem was probably the kitchen as a whole, as on my way to the toilet I got a good look at the serving area. It was grimy and covered in an off putting assortment of foods and slop that must had slipped off of the plates and been left to fester. Upon the eventual serving of our food we were missing 2 of our orders. We assumed that they would be there shortly....they weren't. We ended up having to inquire about the missing meals with our waiter who as it turned out had forgotten to put our other orders through, meaning we had to wait for them to be cooked too. On top of that, despite the cokes we ordered at the bar litteraly being clear and not black/browny coloured, we were served them anyway. We also had to enquire about getting some that didn't just taste of sparkling water and that actualy contained the syrup... And that isn't even the end of it. The food also tasted like raw onions, the bacon, the burgers, the brisket. EVERYTHING. All in all, the service was bad, food was bad and the hygeen was bad. 0/10, would not wait for food again.

We each had a burrito, one pork one chicken. The problem I usually find with UK Mexican is that it isnt well-seasoned enough and generally lacks flavor. The meat and toppings here do not have that issue. The burritos were big and filling. I missed having something on the side, like rice and beans though. That would really clench it for me.
