We have stayed here many times before, generally for 5-6weeks. The apartments are generally fully equipped and the beachfront apartments have views that are absolutely stunning.
Last year we stayed in an older apartment, not updated, which was ok but had an ongoing problem with tiny ants, Even the toothpaste would get full of them. Someone was called in but the problem persisted and we couldn't buy and keep food unless it was refrigerated. Even the toothpaste had to be kept in the fridge.
This year we are in a lovely modernised apartment with the costs having gone up considerably. Unfortanetly maintenance work to the building is going on. Whilst I realise that it is an older building that requires updating it has put a dampener on our stay. Many mornings we are woken at 8am by ongoing jackhammering. Its very loud and not conducive to peace and relaxation which generally comes with these apartments. while this maintenance works go on, which is for the next 3 years, the pool and spa is closed. We are paying for these facilities which we can't use and no compensation has been offered. Sitting by the pool is one of the things we love and have been told by the management to go to the beach. Sadly it's quite cool on the beach and no chairs to lounge on.
The cleaning is slap dash to say the least and other guests mentioned it to me too. It is done fotnightly. It includes a linen change and a vacuum. No toilets, basins or shower were cleaned or bins emptied. Nothing wiped down or dusted. After 4 weeks the clean was marginally better with the bins emptied and toilets cleaned. Woo hoo! I complained about the regulatory and standard to the management but I was pretty much dismissed. I asked about a proper deep clean to which was told that this happens every 6 months! I was told to do the dusting etc myself. At over $200 a night I was told that this was a cheap rate. I would expect a lot more at this rate.
Anyway the location is exceptional and perhaps I am expecting too much. read more
