The brownsover post office is based inside the Spar supermarket in hollowell way in rugby, its…read moreright at the back of the store. The post office provides an excellent service for the local community, what with paying bills, posting letters and parcels, cheques, banking services etc etc. The staff are great and they have worked there for years so onece they get to know you as a local also they go out of their way to help you as much as they can. They get very busy on mondays and thursday and yet they still provide a very effiecient and excellent service and remain professionable and very friendly no matter what stress they must be under. They have been very helpful to myself as i have done many ebay stuff over the last couple of months to get oney for christmas and they have give me the best time to go up and post all my stuff, showed me how to do the labels and packaging efficently and never make me feel rushed or anything. They also have gave me lots of tips and ideas about my ebay stuff as they have many people whom they provide service to regarding ebay selling. They are great and provide a invaluable service to the community.

There is a small portacabin with a member of staff in it who can sell you a visitors guide and answer any questions you may have. There is very limited parking and I think it's only open for part of the year, so best to check on the website before you go to avoid disappointment. There is a small admission charge. I wouldn't like to be inside when it gets dark! It's quite close to the A14 in Northants, and only takes and hour or so to visit, so is well worth stopping off there if you are looking for something a bit different to do.

Sulgrave Manor is a great place to visit. Traditionally, most well known as the ancestral home of…read moreGeorge Washington's family. A frequent haunt of American travellers, for obvious reasons; the manor boasts an excellent herb garden, which is well worth a visit, and hosts fantastic special days known as 'living history' days, which are great for children, as there is lots of dressing up involved and interesting food and fun games. The fabulous old building was built during Shakesperian times and is a good example of a modest housing and garden abode. The gift shop is extensive and the cafe has a good selection of food and refreshments. The village of Sulgrave itself is beautiful, and a fine example of Northamptonshire country-style. There is a lovely village shop, run only by the community and volunteers! unusual in these times! The village pub is good too, with the same good service and quality. All round, a great day out for the family, but compact enough also for a quick drop in visit. Highly Recommended.

An interesting and quirky building, you could look around this place in 10 minutes and have seen…read moreeverything. However, if you happening to be passing (a little unlikely, I admit as it's in the middle of nowhere) and want to break up a journey, it's an interesting enough stop-off. We were very lucky with the weather when we brought our two young children here and were able to have a picnic on the grass whilst they ran about and played, so we ended up staying around an hour. Be aware that there are no facilities at all except a small (English Heritage) ticket office and gift shop in a portacabin.

A lot has changed about the place since then but it's still essentially the same. They have the usual things you'd expect of a library - childrens section, reading chairs etc. New additions to the library include Internet access, the 1881 National Census, photo scanning, word processing, e-mail and colour printing which are all available free of charge. There is a small car park to the rear. It's a lovely little local library which is worth a visit.
