Overall North Park is a nice area of San Diego. Have alot of good food places within walking distance of eachother. All kinds of different foods. Bars as well. Anything from Fairplay to Seven grand to Redwing. Also have the observatory where you can see shows and the convenient part is you could always grab food or drinks before or after. Theirs also a target close by as well so can go shopping if needed as well. It really is a great little area. I would say parking is pretty breezy here because you have so many options for parking. And even if you have to walk theirs alot of spots you can explore or stop into for a coffee etc., Definitely a safe area. If you decide to catch a lyft or uber driver won't have to many issues with pick up unlike gaslamp. So if you are visiting the area or live in San diego and Haven't visited much of north park I'd recommend a walk down or an afternoon stroll.

After five years away it's still so special to me!

This has to be the most sentimental review I've ever written with this five-star rating! I once lived in this neighborhood right near the edge of University Street. It could get noisy at night and there was a never lack of excitement it seemed. But I loved some of the shops down here! It's proximity to Balboa Park was certainly a perk. But it has its good assortment of shops and restaurants of all kinds, including one of the best camera shops around in George's Camera. Cafe Calabria is also a winner, though hopefully it's still open with the COVID situation. Another exciting thing is that my church has a satellite congregation in the area. Gotta say that North Park had everything I needed! I don't have much more to say and it's probably crazy to give it five stars. But the ratings are always in the eyes of the beholder's experience! So I'm going to stick to my sentimental rating scale here! Do visit North Park. I'd say it's a little underrated, but you'll have no problem finding something you'll like - just do the walk around. Plenty of shops are waiting for you! Recommend: HIGH

I can't believe I'm the second person to write a review for North Park. I really love NP because they have some cool bars, great restaurants and just a great vibe. I'm going to list some of my favorite spots in North Park. 1. Hammond's Gourmet Ice Cream!!! 2. Tostada North Park-Seafood/Mexican spot!! 3. Modern Times Flavordome which is a Brewery!!! 4. Venissimo Cheese shop!! 5. Seven Grand which is an old fashion bar!! 6. The Office which is a dive bar with great prices!!! 7. Fatboy's Deli and Spirits they have some great sandwiches!!! Okay that's enough to name a few but overall North Park is great and is definitely my hangout spot when I'm in this area.

Trendy/trending North Park in San Diego ranks in my top 10 towns in SoCal. Great restaurants, sports bars and coffee shops are here as well as an eclectic bookstore (can't remember the name). Parking is difficult and you'll have to circle a few times to find street parking. While you are circling the town, many walls are covered with street art (much like a POW WOW event). I was also shopping for real estate and realized that not too many homes are listed for sale here. Which means people don't leave a great town unless they have to and they eventually rent it out. North Park is a cozy community of older, smaller single family homes. Great town with a great vibe and diverse population. Definitely a place to spend the morning or afternoon exploring.

Colorful North Park. Nice construction adds to the beauty...NOT) Lol.

The North Park DT area along 30th and University Avenue is an area teeming with every type of restaurant, colorful dive bars and unique retail businesses. I'm particularly a fan of Cafe Calabria, possessing outstanding Neapolitan Pizza, Lattes and other Italian food (see separate review) and for an outstanding burger, Crazee Burger (separate review) and Urbn - North Park's BBQ Chicken Pizza and their fantastic Mashed Potato Pizza (also a separate review). North Park has a weekly Certified Farmers' Market every Thursday. It is held, rain or shine, from 3PM to 7:30PM. The market covers three blocks at 3000 North Park Way, from 30th Street to Utah Street. I have purchased some of my favorite items here. I found Bitchin' Sauce, Hopkins AG Almonds and Witt Pickles. Fresh produce comes from several farms: J R Organics Farm, Smit Farms, Valdivia Farm, and Rodney Kawano Farm. Also, local meat and eggs are available from Da Le Ranch and Three Sons Farm, spices from Smij Spicery and baked goods from The Bread Bar and Maya's cookies. You cannot pass up the delicious Indian food at Masala Cottage, Gourmet Tamales or Sabor Piri Piri's tastes of Africa. Last but not least, you will find San Diego-made crafters and the SD Vintage Flea section. There are definitely deals to be had here. As far as actually 'living' in this town, if you're not hipster, you will not be a good fit, especially by the mostly 'fluid' community. I finally moved from NP because I became annoyed by homeless people literally congregating on my front doorstep. They would regularly use our outside faucets to wash themselves, and that was unsettling to witness when walking to my detached garage. They were mostly harmless, but still, you never really know. Even though the condominium we lived in had a garage (a necessity in this community), the building was old and dated, and could have had a better layout. After awhile, we discovered our small complex was riddled with mold; a common problem in this town. If you are considering renting or buying in North Park, make sure you have mold tests conducted before you sign on the dotted line. The average home in North Park is modest at best in size. You will not find any mansions in this town. North Park is a central-located town in San Diego proper, bordering the neighborhoods of University Heights, El Cajon, Mission Valley and Hillcrest. Housing is expensive for what you get, but perhaps there are deals to be had, just like in any other San Diego neighborhood. For activities, restaurants and the Farmers Market, North Park is an okay town to visit for a day trip.

I was once the Duke of Kensington Mini Park This one, too! In addition to the above, I can also recommend Kensington Club, Earthwell Refill, and Stella Jean. The Ken Club is one of the oldest bars in San Diego and they are old school. Cash only! I have seen bands here and I have sung Louis Prima and Faith No More during Sunday night karaoke. Check out their calendar of events. Earthwell Refill is a zero-waste shop that sells household and hygiene products. Bring in your empty bottle or purchase or borrow one from the shop. We get our shampoo here. Stella Jean has good ice cream. They do a few vegan flavors. I want to try the Date Shake Cake. Warning: Burger Lounge uses beef tallow to cook their French fries and their onion rings. Enjoy your visit to my barony, a community in which I would never be able to afford to live!

There are many that like to take trips through the many older neighborhoods which can be declared as some of the older neighborhoods are some of the many where the older times of San Diego can be found. I had taken the bus from the SDSU neighborhood and wanted to see the many other parts of San Diego that had remained hidden for many for some you have to take the bus to get to. To have taken the bus the travel to the area was a time of 25 minutes I had seen the many stops that when you travel on the San Diego Transit route 11 to the area of Kensington Adams Ave parking you can't find much. From the many years that when you look at Kensington the history of Kensington was the history and the background of Adams Avenue that had a Spanish background in the many house that were during the years of 1926. The city of Kensington is one place that you can take a bus up to the area you can walk amongst the many locations and take connecting busses that can take you downtown and over to the area of North Park the many areas people do drive by and not know they have passed by history of the North Park area. The Baron is back!…read more Now that the Baroness and I are freeholders, I feel that my review needs an update, so here we go: Bosforo - Haven't been, but heard good things. Turkish pizza? Worth a try. Get a reservation; this place is always crowded. Sahara - Mediterranean takeout (with a couple of sidewalk tables). Decent beer selection, but read the label. They sell some NA brews. Caveat emptor! Nozaru - Their vegan ramen is on my list to try. Thai Joint on Adams - This jawn never disappoints. Their roots go back to Plumeria in University Heights, but they have vegan as well as omni menus. Dos Palmas Cafe - My sister said that this was the best breakfast sandwich that she has ever eaten. Hopnonymous Brewing Company - A welcome addition to the neighborhood. See my review. Rosie O'Grady's - They are back, and so are $5 draft Tuesdays! But, do they have live music anymore? Miss Shelly's Shack is slinging the grub, but if you are vegan, don't come hungry. See my review. Ska Bar - RIP Uptown Bicycles - Game Over Community Fridge - A free resource where we can share food and other resources with those of us who are less fortunate. It is in front of Normal Heights United Methodist Church. Adams Avenue Theater - Event space that sometimes hosts free comedy shows. I love Normal Heights. Normal Heights loves cool visitors. This time in 2025, I avoided food poisoning and did not go back to the restaurant that made me deathly ill in 2018. It is still open and still serves gelato. My impression this time was much more favorable. There are so many restaurants to choose from, it is hard to imagine how we made our choices last time. It's a pizza lover's dream. I think you could eat pizza at a different restaurant every day for half a year. There are cute little shops and food stores that sell Italian foods and pasta. I'm so glad we stayed in this neighborhood over Gaslamp, as that was on my radar too but sounded like it may have been too wild. We didn't have a car, so parking wasn't a problem, and public transportation was close by. It was also easy to call for a Lyft. I also appreciated how close it was to the airport. I'd absolutely stay in Little Italy again in the future if the price permits!
