We had to walk in single file down the left hand side of the corridor, jewellery was forbidden, and failure to wear a tie was punishable by detention. It was ace. I think it went downhill after I left, of course, although the latest Ofsted report syas: The inspection team agree with the school that Boston High is an effective school which provides good value for money. The school's previous designation as having serious weaknesses no longer applies. Almost all parents and carers think the school is now doing well. Standards are high and progress is now good. Students' personal development is excellent and the care, guidance and support they are given, which were unsatisfactory in the previous inspection, are now outstanding. Teaching is mostly good and sometimes outstanding. There remains some less good teaching, in particular in information and communication technology (ICT) and modern foreign languages (MFL) and occasionally in other subjects, which results in poorer progress. There are good examples of marking to ensure improvement but the overall quality is inconsistent. Personal, social and health education (PSHE) and careers guidance are now good but citizenship still needs development. Leadership and management have improved greatly since the last inspection. There is now a strong lead from the top, ably supported by senior leaders, governors and most middle managers, and rigorous procedures for monitoring and evaluation at all levels. There has been good improvement since the last inspection and the school has very good capacity to improve. BHS is a grammar school, so you have to pass the 11 Plus to get in, and there's an amalgamation with BGS (Boston Grammar School for Boys) planned for 2009, which no doubt Miss Webb would have been horrified at.

I've worked in many schools in Lincolnshire, Yorkshire and Humberside and visiting Banovallum was a joy. People may (or may not) be surprised at the lack of organisation and discipline at some schools. Not so Banovallum. The cover work was well organised, the discipline excellent and the kids were lovely. I received regular support from teachers nearby and the general organisation was great. She has just left with fantastic GCSE results. It hasn't always been easy as there were some issues of bullying but the school were always quick to nip it in the bud as soon as they knew about it. The communication channels between the school and parents are extremely good and always open. My daughter struggles with the more academic subjects due to mild dyslexia but support was always there with extra tuition if required. She left 'Bano' with 2 A*, 4 A, 1B and 2 C grade GCSE's and 2 BTEC dist*. This is a school that truly believes in 'every' child's potential. Not every child wants to engage but the school will do their absolute best at trying to get a tune out of all of them no matter whether they are a high flyer, average or below. Banovallum are not always well spoken of as they are constantly compared with the local Grammar school but we are so glad our daughter went to 'Bano' as she would have never been able to fly in the stifling grammar environment.

The uni has brought a lot more nightlife to the City which is good for the younger generation. Two of my children spent three happy years there, and I'm hoping to send the third next year. Diana, the wonderful manager, and her happy team of staff really get to know your child and offer a really fun, informal, child-led nursery level education. Can't recommend it enough. They offer healthy hot lunches and a before- and after-school service to suit working hours. When your child reaches school age the Limes puts on a fantastic graduation ceremony - proud tears are guaranteed!

One of my earliest memories of Blackfriars is being taken to the annual pantomine by my Nan. Since…read morethen I have watched a fair few more pantos, plays and comedy clubs. These days Blackfriars also shows movies. Blackfriars is a lovely little theatre and arts centre and has its own bar so you can catch a quick drink in the interval of the various productions that are put on there. I am looking forward to being able to take my little girl to watch the christmas panto in a year or two.
