I would never recommend this dermatologist office to anyone. They are very Rude and unprofessional. If you miss your appointment for any reason they want to charge you 25.00 the office manager Christina is Very RUDE! The front desk staff is nice but that's it. This place is open but stay as far away as possible! Terrible customer service. There is zero care, compassion or empathy from these people. They won't inform you if something they're doing is considered a "procedure" they will bill to the insurance for hundreds of dollars and will send you a bill 9 months later and threaten to send you to collections if you don't pay. I went to see Dr. Bonis, a supposed Dermatologist, at the suggestion of my rheumatologist, (Dr. G. Fahrenbach) due to my hair loss, caused by my lupus. (Northbranch Dermatology on Milwaukee Ave in Niles, Illinois) who is right across the aisle. I'll tell you right now why NOT to go there, Ever!! And before I explain what happened ; I highly recommend that anyone that thinks about going to see Dr. Bonis, to run... run away fast! I visited with her for probably 15-20 minutes and explained to her about the hair loss and rash that I was experiencing as well as mentioning being caused by my lupus. They send me a bill for $450... So I reached out to my insurance company once I found out that the billing wasn't being covered. They explained to me that the coding was the reason. The so-called Dr. Bonis coded it to state that it was general hair loss from alopecia... Completely ignoring that I had lupus and that my Rheumatologist diagnosed me with it! I call my insurance company and ask them to intervene; which they did numerous times in regards to the coding, but Dr. Bonis' office refused to adjust the code! Do you get what I'm saying???!!! They could be paid immediately, if they change the code to state that the symptoms I was having was due to my lupus....but they'd rather not!!! Who does that?! I'll tell you who North Branch(Northbranch Dermatology on Milwaukee Ave in Niles Illinois), that's who! Not the brightest crayon in the box. So I leave three messages at the office with no return calls. Then I request being forwarded to the office manager, and they forward me to her voicemail. No callback from her either.. Surprise, surprise. So then I asked the very rude, unprofessional child, the office manager, to have Dr. Bonis call me back... And she tells me "the doctor will never call you." Alrighty, then thank you for caring! So I asked Dr. Fahrenbach, my rheumatologist, ( you know the guy Qualified to diagnose me with lupus), to please send a script to her stating that my hair loss is from lupus...He did so.... But NO, that's not good enough, evidently; because Dr. Bonis obviously must think that she knows more about rheumatological issues than my own Rheumatologist!! She won't change the code because she feels it is generalized hair loss, instead of lupus! So she's not changing the code. This woman never even looked at my scalp. Since when does this dermatologist get to trump my rheumatologists diagnosis?! NO MA'AM, THINK AGAIN! So then I received my second billing request from them for the $450 and I sent a certified letter back to them stating that this is in dispute, and since I can't talk to mature adult without getting yelled at about this topic, I will not be contacting their office again via phone and I will not be paying the said amount; Because my insurance would cover, it if they'd adjust change the code. Today I received a collection notice from CMG. No surprise there and it doesn't change a thing on my end, you're either gonna get paid through my insurance or not at all. Not the brightest Crayons in the box None of this makes sense to me! You can get paid immediately through my insurance, by adjusting code... Which lupus was verified by my rheumatologist....so Why go in this direction instead? All I'm telling you is to stay VERY VERY clear of this office! Something is not right here! And if you choose to go there, you better be asking a lot of questions BEFORE your visit, because AFTER YOUR VISIT, THE DAMAGE IS DONE, WHETHER YOU LIKE IT OR NOT! They are completely rude, unprofessional and uncooperative! NEVER AGAIN! And when The office manager starts screaming at you hang up on her like I did...3 times... . Absolutely terrible. Providers are extremely inconsistent and inconsiderate. Give u little to no time to send in information for prescription, seriously no more than a day after each appointment, and will cancel your prescription otherwise. All workers there are extremely unprofessional, constantly 30 minutes or more late to appointments, and rely on patients to tell them what medications they are on because they do not keep track. Milwaukee Ave. in Niles, IL The milia removal was a straightforward procedure that took a few minutes and actually does not necessitate a dermatologist, but due to their irresponsible billing department, I would give North Branch Dermatology zero stars if I could. I began receiving a bill for $130 nearly six months after the procedure. All this time I thought my Blue Cross insurance covered it. I mailed a check for the full amount, then over a month later I received a collections letter demanding payment. I called North Branch and left a message with the billing department. The next day received a voice mail message saying they never received the check and that I should call my bank to issue a stop payment since fraudulent check interceptions were now very common and post office deliveries were extremely slow. When I called my bank, they stated that the check had been deposited ten days ago, and they would begin a fraud investigation. In the meantime, they advised that I would be issued a new account number for security and that I should discard my existing paper checks, since they would place a hold on all future debits. So used my hand-crank to manually shred all four remaining checkbooks, and now I'll have to change the account numbers with other connected financial institutions. I then called back North Branch Dermatology to explain that my bank opened a fraud investigation, make sure they withdraw the debt from the collections company, and set up a new payment using my credit card. The woman who answered the phone then stated they had deposited my check but had not updated my account. Appalled, I reiterated that I had just spent 30 minutes on the phone with my bank and had hand-shredded my checkbooks and would have to spend more time to set up the new account number. After I'd called them about the collection letter saying I'd sent them a check in the mail, why hadn't they checked first before leaving me a drawn-out message on my voice mail blaming the post office delays, blaming an increase in fraudulent activity? The woman responded with a half-a**ed "sorry." This situation smells fishy--I recommend that people go to dermatologists affiliated with a hospital which charges exactly the same, not to a skin clinic with negligent billing practices. read more

Dr. Fahrenbach is excellent. I am very impressed at her skills when removing moles for biopsy, without leaving a trace or a scar! I had trouble scheduling an appointment and have had several issues with appointments being randomly canceled (I don't live near this office so I do not appreciate wasting over an hour in commute time). But the doctor herself is excellent. read more

They are unprofessional, You will not see a REAL Dr. just a glorified med school dropout called a NP. They will lead you on and after multiple visits tell you they don't know. I would not recommend to anyone. Waste of time. I've had an appointment scheduled for over a year and I show up only for them to try and tell me my appointment was the day prior. I pulled out the appointment reminder card which shows I was correct and showed up to the correct appointment time. I then have them tell me that the doctor no longer works on the day of my appointment and they had tried to call and confirm (I never got a call) so I asked if it was confirmed and the lady at the front desk said my appointment was unconfirmed. read more

This was terrible experience. The initial doctors appointment went okay, this is me being generous, as they had me wait almost an hour after my appointment time to get in, but I digress. The initial appointment goes fine and I leave, COVID19 starts, so about 1 day before my appointment I get a call that I need to reschedule. They tell me to not do it the next month, which would have been June so that they have extra time to schedule. I am against this but go with it because they give me no choice. They call me again today less than a week before the next appointment and tell me I need to reschedule again. They lie and say they have been reaching out to me for weeks trying to reschedule, but this is the first time they ever called me. I told them that I think they should have done this before rebooking me the first time and that I dont think its fair to me, before I can even finish this sentence the so aptly self titled "Office Manager" or "office Karen" for those who will use this branch ,begins getting loud and almost screaming at me that she doesn't respect what I am saying. She is speaking so loud that she barely even hears me say to just cancel the appointment over her own voice before I was forced to hangup. Would give my experience a 0 out of 10 if I could and it seems like other comments already reflect the service from this "manager" and this office. read more
